Gears 3, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 in the top 3.
And we wonder why devs don't give us more new IP's

xPhearR3dx4682d ago

If there's no new IP's to pre-order how are they ever going to take the top spots?

newleaf4682d ago

rAge? Its in the list but nowhere near the top. Last Guardian? New IP right there.

jetlian4682d ago

do people need new ip's all the time? not changing the style of play!

OC_MurphysLaw4682d ago

@Newleaf, actually your top 18 are all sequels off that chart. I say Dues Ex Revolution isn't only because its been so long it feels like a new IP. But reality is... sequels to "Good" franchises get remade. I know it sucks for new IP, but on the up side...you are getting highly polished experiences (for the most part).

Bigpappy4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

What is shocking to me, is that the only exclusives I see on pre-order are Gears and Uncharted (PS3/360). Next is that Skyrim is not charted for PS3 pre-orders. You guys do know that there is free stuff to be had for pre-ordering Skyrim right?

DFresh4681d ago

Uncharted is a Playstation franchise noob.
Not multiplatform.
Make the correction.
:)

gunnerforlife4681d ago

@DFresh either he changed hes comment after you corrected him or what hes saying and what i'm seeing makes sense to me O.o

chidori6664682d ago

danm,uuc3 pre-ordrs is low numbers.sad this..

JokesOnYou4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

Wow, 4 out of the top 5 are on 360, 8 out of the top 10 on 360, Gears3 has over twice as many as the #2 game MW3. 360 fanbase seems to get unfair criticism for their love of shooters, but the ps3 fanbase for all their talk seems to prefer shooters just as much, proofs in the pudding with once again MW3 and BF3 the top games on ps3, also note that Skyrim, AC Revelations, ME3(my favorite) all of different genre's are #5,6, and 7 in the top 10 on the 360. Wow, its been a rather dry first half of the year for 360, so its good to see alot of great games starting this fall through rest of the year, looks like owners of either console have a wide variety to look forward to, owners of both= gaming bliss. I sure hope Batman AC moves higher on that list, at least higher than NCAA Football #23454.

showtimefolks4681d ago

i think now we are into such a critical time of consoles where both console have strong fan base and both are 5-6 years into cycle that now its the time for established games and sequels

don't expect a lot of new Ips now is the time for publishers to make money on their established and growing fan base

last guardian
agent
xcom(since its been so long)
rage
insomniac's new game
heavy rain's sequel or david cage's new game
sucker punch's new IP
GG games new IP after kz3
bungie's new game

well we will get some new Ips but most of them will be sequels

and what's up with each game series being a trilogy

All I know is that according this chart, DICE better damn well be on top of their Xbox 360 game for Battlefield 3, because it seems that the "Shooter Box" crowd, who are more "immature" than the Sony crowd, are rising to the occasion of supporting Battlefield 3 far faster than their PS3 brethren.

killerhog4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

We have other games to play . For me: resistance 3, then uncharted 3, then twisted metal.

Lol @ disagree/s. Enjoy your 1 game sorry if i got multiple games I want to play that are my preference

Convas4682d ago

Really bro? You seem to be speaking for yourself as your fellow PS3 brethren seem to want Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

lMHl4682d ago Show
OC_MurphysLaw4682d ago

Both systems have plenty to choose from beyond BF3 killerhog. Gears, Forza, Skyrim, Batman, Rage, MW3, Withcer 2... And plenty more. Ditch the fanboy speak and just be happy we all will have plenty to play this holiday.

fatalred alarm4682d ago

i'll be enjoying tons of games later this year. And i only own a xbox360 now.

Like someone above me said:
Skyrim
Forza
Battlefield 3
Modern warfare 3
Gears of war 3
Halo
Ace Combat

Not to mention the tons of games everyone can play for amazingly low prices on steam, just look at the current sales! They are amazing.

killerhog4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

of course im speaking about myself and my other ps3 brethren who will get said games i mention. codmw3 isnt the entire ps3 install-base

OC_MurphysLaw4682d ago

Nor is it the 360's. Stop ...just stop. Thankfully you only have 3 bubbles.

Solidus187-SCMilk4681d ago (Edited 4681d ago )

hahah COD is the most popular game on PS3 as well. none of the game yuo mention are on the list(even though it is VG chartz) besides Uncharted 3.

I have a ps3 and 360, and will be getting Gears of War 3 and Unharted 3, and a bunch of multiplats like Deus ex, the witcher, Dark souls, Skyrm, maybe battlefield/AC.

Also, Im pretty sure more people will like the Halo/gears/forza combo than the UC3/TM/Resistance combo. Notice they are similar types of games FPS, TPS, cars.

And guess what, of all the game you and I mentioned CALL OF DUTY will outsell and be the most popular on both systems.

news4geeks4682d ago

The 360 installed user base dwarfs the ps3 in the US. I'm surprised ps3 games actually make the top ten. I should point out, this obviously means that you cannot conclude that the 360 crowd are taking to Battlefield 3 more than the ps3 crowd. Install base must be kept in mind.

OC_MurphysLaw4682d ago

I am pretty sure BF3 ...nor any shooter from the west does too well in Japan. Japan = sizeable portion of the PS3 base....therefore its safe to say BF3 is being taken up slower on the PS3 than on the 360.

Ser4682d ago

I don't think Clizzz took that into consideration. I was about to post the same exact thing.

Shackdaddy8364682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

vgchartz doesn't say anything about how a game is doing.

edit: I thought you said something different. My mistake :) Ya. I agree. lol.

Ser4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

Battlefield 3 (PS3) and Skyrim (PS3) are paid off for me. I stopped purchasing CoD titles after MW2, and I don't plan to break the habit this year.

slavish34682d ago

where is uncharted 3? why do 360 game always sell more?

ECM0NEY4682d ago

We Americans love shooters.

slavish34682d ago

uncharted is a shooter!

ECM0NEY4682d ago

Its an action game with platforming and shooter elements.

I wouldnt call Tomb Raider a shooter.

carlosjrix4682d ago

We Americans love hardcore shooters. :D

OC_MurphysLaw4682d ago

Well after UC2 I think 3rd person shooter better describes Uncharted now than action platformer.

Solidus187-SCMilk4681d ago

No, Uncharted is a 3rd person shooter with climbing/platforming.

Saying it isnt a shooter is funny.

Most of uncharted is shooting and cover. With some climbing in between.

I guess by your standards halo is a driving game with FPS elements.

Tasteless and blind or addicted consumers buying generic war games and sometimes with steroid buff soldiers that kill in hardcore ways just to look hardcore.

And then there's diversity....

Tachyon_Nova4682d ago (Edited 4682d ago )

A definition of generic: 1.Very comprehensive; pertaining or appropriate to large classes or groups as opposed to specific.

By definition, a 'generic' game is going to be more popular because it appeals to more people, how does that make those who buy popular games stupid?

Some people (not me) game on a very limited budget, and so can't afford to take a risk with something a bit more out there like Alan Wake, Heavy Rain etc. Also they need a game that is going to last them for a great deal of time which makes buying a game with a fun, fully fleshed multiplayer essential, even large RPG's may not offer enough content to keep them occupied for 3-6 months or more. This is the main reason that games like CoD, Halo and Battlefield sell so well, because people know they are going to get a game that they can play for hundreds of hours.

Tron_Rocks4681d ago

- There are more 360's larger install base
- If one like me owns both I much prefer multi-player on the 360 by a MILE!

Call of Duty Players Disappointed by $80 B.E.A.S.T. Glove Bundle Deal

Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac17d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-2316d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast23d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22923d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko23d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave23d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan23d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
