The way things are going this year for the PS3 I pretty much doubt the PS3 will get the better version. All multi platform games seem to be better on the 360 this year since the 360 was the lead platform. I hope the PS3 is the better version or at least equal to the 360 version. At least there will be free online.

It will either be this game or UT III for my purchase because I don't want so many shooters. I think UT III will be worth the wait but if it's delayed till next year then COD 4 will be my choice for this year.

Is not native 1080p it is like 1440 X 920 or something like that then upscaled to 1920 X 1080, so yeah the PS3 can upscale.

Its got a hardware scaler for 1280*1080 to scale to 1920*1080.

Basically, a horizontal only scaler, which is different to the Xboxs one which can scale in both horizontal and vertical

It is software upscaling for the PS3, hardware/software for the 360. Then again, I'm pretty sure all 360 games put 1080p on the back of the box because of hardware upscaling, which is kind of cheating.

Both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can do upscaling. Choosing 1080p in the settings for both the PS3 and 360 is what the consoles will do it's best to upscale to if the games are not already 1080p.

It's a lot like resolutions on your computer. You can set your desktop to 1280x960 or whatever you wish, everyone knows that's separate once you jump into a game on your computer. You have to choose a resolution again within the game settings. On consoles, that option is removed. Developers choose FOR YOU what resolution the game is playing. The setting you choose inside console settings is only telling the system what your TV is capable of, and whether or not to go ahead and downscale/upscale the image, if or when needed.

PC games dont' scale, only consoles do that. All PC games display resolution natively, meaning if you set CoD 4 to 1080p, then it is rendering in full 1080p as long as your monitor support that resolution. If there is any scaling at all then PC games will only scale DOWN, they don't cheat and scale up like console games.

This is my most anticipated game! I cannot wait until this things comes out. Playing Counter-strike and BF2 on pc got me completely hooked modern day multiplayer FPSs.

I just hope in the furture they add KEYBOARD AND MOUSE SUPPORT! (HINT HINT).

The PS3 won't be lacking any titles soon enough. Don't care what the xbots say, I love this system.

Xbox360 has a scaler chip. It even has a name "ANA'. Which to me is very disturbing and weird. I even hear some of the die hard xbox fanboys brag about ANA as if she was a real girl and thats even more disturbin and weird. But thats why alot of Xbox360 games are not Native 1080P but they are upscaled by "ANA".

PS3 does not have an upscaler. This is a pro and a con. Con being if a game is 720P native thats the highest resoulution you will ever get that game to run at. The Pro being if a PS3 game happens to be 1080P. Best believe it is a Native 1080P. Simpley because the PS3 does not have a hardware scaler that works anything like the hardware scaler in the 360. So please stop gettin if confused. COD4 is however native 1080P on both consoles.

Also not upscaled is not the same as native. Upscaling simply blows up the picture to make it run at a higher resolution but you definetly lose image quality. Dont believe make. Set your PC screen resolution to 1024x720 then take a 800x600 size wallpaper and set it as your desktop. The select the "fit to screen" option. Yes it will now fill your desktop but you will see the difference in image quality and there you have it. upscaling 101. Now STFU about it.

I stand corrected bro. The PS3 does have a scaler. But if im understanding this right it isnt used nearly as much as the 360 scaler. In other words here is how it was explained to me by someone who knows a little more than both of us:

OK, the PS3 has a hardware scaler, its horizontal only, so the following res are supported:-
960x1080, 1280x1080, 1440x1080 and 1600x1080.

Each one of them will get scaled to 1920x1080. So if you were rendering at 1280x1080 you would send a horizontally squashed image to the scaler so it looked correct on a 1920x1080 16:9 display.

Now, I'm not as teched up on 360, but I think it has both a horizontal and a vertical scaler for typical resolutions. Any standard res can then be scaled to any supported output (480, 720, 1080, possibly 576).

The difference is that the xbox is more flexible, but open to dev dropping the res to get frametime back. As people claim about Halo 3 and Gotham.

As for the hardware scaling on the PS3 to 1080p, even at the very lowest res the scaler will support, 960x1080, thats still a higher pixel count than a 720p image (1,036,800 vs 921,600)

I think The Darkness is a native 1080p game on the 360 as well as the PS3...could be wrong though, especially with how confusing this scaling crap is...

basically if the systems use scalers to get "HD" resolutions...its not HD at all...you can't make true high resolution out of pixels that simply are not rendered...they have come up with some tricks apparently, but its pretty pathetic if its really the case...and it would appear the 360 is using more tricks than the PS3...most developers have confirmed that SCE requires any PS3 game to have an unscaled 720p static image rendered as a minimum...so the native resolution has to be at least 1280 X 720...that is not the case with the 360...

Monster makes a normal USB charge line for the PS3 (normal USB end for PS3, mini USB end for the sixaxis) that is like 15ft for 8.99...can probably find some cheaper, but it comes with a nice holder for when not in use...irrc...best buy and circuit city have them in stock usually...

The PS3 does NOT have an upscaling chip the 360 does, the PS3 does it via software.

The PS3 version cannot be better than the PC thats for a fact and no way in hell can it be better than the 360 becase the GPU in the 360 is 1yr ahead in technology over the PS3 RSX FACT!

Also the 360 has MORE available memory for games FACT!
