Giant Bomb: After the previous games' high standards for chilling atmosphere and cinematic intensity, it's hard not to be disappointed by the common FPS trappings of FEAR 3.
DualShockers Writes "F.E.A.R. 3 (or F.3.A.R. if you’re a marketing executive) isn’t a great singleplayer game. It’s fine, competent even, but Day One Studios had an unenviable task in trying to wrap up Monolith’s F.E.A.R. series. With two timelines and two highly different styles of horror attempted in its wake, F.E.A.R. 3, well, it tries its best."
F.E.A.R. 3 wasn't even really a horror game when it came to the campaign. It was a good action game, but lost just about all of its horror roots along the way.
There have plenty of great horror games, but others haven't been so lucky as to stick around. They deserve to get a new lease on life.
That was probably the first time ever that I saw Castlevania in a list of horror games.
ps: Be warned, you have to click a lot to see every game in the list. I stopped after the 4th time.
What is divergent co-op and how could more games benefit from it?
Seems kind of hypercritical, based too much on disliking style instead of finding fault with the mechanics, and as a review is rather worthless to anyone who'd consider buying F.3.A.R. for the shooting.
The game is NOT as "suspenseful" as the first two F.E.A.R.'s
But let's be honest.
The first two weren't that chilling to beginning with.
Dead Space 2 and Alan Wake have that title on LOCK DOWN.
Hard to be scary when you walking around with an arsenal on your back.
Focus on some "jump moments" and give the player some great action and tie this story together.
I've had better action on this game than in the last 10 FPS titles I've played lately.
You cant stay in cover to long, cause it breaks. Enemies flush you out with grenades and flank you.
You can play the levels solo or co-op WITH different character, which require different play styles.
Whats not to like.
F.E.A.R. ISN'T SCREAM or NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. It's a FPS with horror trappings. They designed it that way to give themselves an identity in a sea of shooters.
They DID play to their strengths in this game.
What bullshit review was this?
