"As Sonic the hedgehog celebrates his 20th year this week I thought I’d dedicate a column to the happy memories I have about the fast ‘hog with attitude. Straight away I realised I have a problem. Most of my Sonic enjoyment comes from the Mega Drive games and the rest comes from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Sonic Rush on the DS. SA2:B is the only 3D Sonic game I ever truly enjoyed. What’s more is none of the recent Sonic games have really pushed my happy buttons. So to celebrate the speedy hedgehog’s birthday, here are some thoughts and memories in his honour."

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
