It is cool but I've been doing this for a number of years. First on windows back in the day but more currently in linux.
In linux the pseye drivers are part of the kernel just like ps3 ds3 bluetooth drivers.

dredgewalker4714d ago

Cool if you have the PSeye already, and the good thing about the PSeye as a webcam is that it has a good mic.

elite-shot4714d ago

Anyone know why mine is only working as a mic? no camera is being detected!?

Aarix4714d ago

Reinstall the camera drivers or find new drivers

Sony should think about redesiging, it really looks like dated tech

dazzalfc4714d ago

Yeah, i agree, it doesn't exactly look flashy. I'd welcome a redesign and a few more improvements :)

koehler834714d ago

Regardless of how it looks, the camera is junk and needs to be updated. Or they should allow people to use any USB camera as a PS Eye.

Pixel_Enemy4714d ago

It's more of a camera than Kinect. 120 FPS > 30 FPS

Aarix4714d ago

@pixel_enemy that's because kinect isn't meant for a camera.

SilentNegotiator4714d ago

It's a simple camera for simple game applications. What do you want, a 1080p camcorder, packaged with a professional camera crew?

zero_cool4714d ago

Sony should & could release an improve playstation eye camera no doubt!

clrlite4714d ago

As of right now it works very well in conjunction with the Move. So, for my purposes it's more than sufficient. Sony is already working hard to keep prices down and still make a profit with the sophisticated tech they have been selling. Add inflation into the mix and it can be a lot easier to work with current tech whenever feasible. I personally have absolutely no need for an updated pseye right now, but it would be nice to see them launch another one. With all the (many millions of dollars) money they put into R&D for the Vita, Move, and PS3, not to mention selling systems at a loss, it is understandable that they might want to save a few bucks here and there.

Review - INDIKA (PC) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "INDIKA might have been hit and miss with some of its gameplay elements and had some pacing issues, but one thing is certain: it’s definitely a game that swung for the fences and took a lot of risks. It’s weird and bizarre in all the best ways. It’s a game that hooks you right from the start and will hold your attention until the credits roll. I can’t say it’s a happy experience, but it’s one with a very clear vision and strong message, controversial as it might be. INDIKA is one of those rare games that takes you completely by surprise and sticks with you long after you’ve finished it."
