It is cool but I've been doing this for a number of years. First on windows back in the day but more currently in linux.
In linux the pseye drivers are part of the kernel just like ps3 ds3 bluetooth drivers.

Cool if you have the PSeye already, and the good thing about the PSeye as a webcam is that it has a good mic.

Regardless of how it looks, the camera is junk and needs to be updated. Or they should allow people to use any USB camera as a PS Eye.

It's more of a camera than Kinect. 120 FPS > 30 FPS

As of right now it works very well in conjunction with the Move. So, for my purposes it's more than sufficient. Sony is already working hard to keep prices down and still make a profit with the sophisticated tech they have been selling. Add inflation into the mix and it can be a lot easier to work with current tech whenever feasible. I personally have absolutely no need for an updated pseye right now, but it would be nice to see them launch another one. With all the (many millions of dollars) money they put into R&D for the Vita, Move, and PS3, not to mention selling systems at a loss, it is understandable that they might want to save a few bucks here and there.

You can also use the PS3 controller to play PC games as I have already. Playing Amnesia: the Dark Descent is fun with a controller :3 just use Xpadder or some other keyboard to controller device

I also play PS2 and PS1 games on my PC with my PS3 controller but I won't get into that >_>

it may suck as a camera, but i use it for a microphone and the quality is pretty damn good.

The mic quality is horrible unless you almost sit right on top of it. Doesn't compare to a headset.

Sounds good for me. Its 3 feet away and I dont like the feel of a headset, too used to bluetooth I guess but thats my preference.

When I say headset, I mean either full headset or bluetooth ear piece. When you say the camera sounds good for you, do you know how you sound on the other end?

I use it for Head Tracking, it works good, but it software needs a better development.

PS Move is good for what it does on the PS3, but bringing over the camera to the PC for anything other than educational reasons(which is sort of what this is) is a waste of time.

Upon checkin out that camera, it is a pretty good buy. If people need a good web/video cam they are very cheap. As long as PSeye can track movement very well at 60 FPS I'm happy with it. I have a HD video camera anyway.

It's crazy how cheap some of this tech is these days. A camera like that would have been hundreds of dollars not too long ago.
