It's time to clear the sidewalk! bam!!! :p Can't to play this game :D

HappyGaming4700d ago

I always thought GTA would always be the best open world game out there but WOW!!!

This really shocked me I think I actually have to buy SR2 even if its half as fun as SR3 looks!!

GTA 4 is officially gone there is no argument.
GTA 5 has a lot of work to do to catch up.

I really like the mentality of SR if we can do it than why not do it? Rockstar pissed me of in GTA 4 why not have tanks? Why not has planes? Why would you take things away only to add them again as DLC?

Electroshocked4700d ago

If only the first one was on the PS3 with trophies, then I'd get all of them.

NukaCola4700d ago (Edited 4700d ago )

Wow talk about the freedom to just get out there and have fun. This is bringing back something GTA hasn't had...well ever. This looks flat out fun. Like if San Andreas and PAIN had a sweet baby who did meth and redbull and loved Johnny Cage and Gaston from beauty and the beast and then went totally mental in the city....and tanks...and cannons for both bullets and people. The madness galore..!!!!

YodaCracker4700d ago (Edited 4700d ago )

@Gumtrol: "GTA 4 is officially gone there is no argument."

GTA IV is the highest rated game of this generation with a 98 on Metacritic and has not dropped out of the top 10 most played games on Xbox LIVE a single time since its release in 2008. It is widely regarded as a masterpiece and one of the greatest and deepest games of all-time. It has more attention to detail than almost any other game you could find. It is also a technical marvel of its time, a lot of that having to do with the incredible Euphoria physics engine which makes every interaction infinitely more fun.

The only accomplishment I can think of that the Saints Row series has is being probably the first open world sandbox game of the current gen. Both games in the series have an 81 on Metacritic. GTA IV simply has them trumped in pretty much every department; graphics, physics, storytelling, depth, detail, atmosphere, dialogue/voice acting, multiplayer... it's not even really a competition here. GTA IV's presentation values are so sky high that almost no other game can compete.

Saints Row is a good series in its own right but comparing it to GTA is like comparing a straight-to-DVD children's film to a big, Hollywood blockbuster.

artynerd4700d ago

^^
"one of the greatest and deepest games of all-time."

... maybe for those who haven't heard of Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. Makes the "deep" gameplay of GTAIV seem like a rails shooter by comparison. I mean, seriously, what was there to do outside of the main story? Some SUPER lame side-quests and... darts. Big city, yes, but kinda like a blonde supermodel - looks great, but totally empty on the inside.

turgore4700d ago

"GTA IV is the highest rated game of this generation with a 98 on Metacritic"

That's because Rockstar paid reviewers off. It is ridiculous how poorly GTA4 has aged. Driving is like crap. Control is like crap. Story is crap. Gameplay is crap- i mean who the hell wants a game where all you do is take your cousin bowling.
Graphics were okay at the time but the game felt like a huge city with nothing to do in it. At least multiplayer was pretty decent.

For me this generation GTAIV was the biggest disappointment ever but Saints Row 2 made up for that disappointment. So many things to do in that game can't wait to see how packed in content this will be.

tee_bag2424700d ago

I have to say I feel the same way. Iv completed all the GTA's. I even played the death match on GTA4 up to 8 Stars. But the game really took many steps back from San Andreas.
Where the f@#k were the planes?! Where was everything?! Where was the fun?

Most of all?! Where was the story coop like Saints 2 had ? What they did was marvelous !!!!!!!!

metsgaming4700d ago

thats why im looking forward to SR3 way more then gta5. Saints row picked up where gta4 dropped the ball. Saints row has the fun the old gtas used to have and gta4 wasnt even a gta game to me.

NarooN4700d ago

This game is a day-one buy. Nope, I'm buying it before it even comes out. Day Zero Buy.

subtenko4700d ago

Finally a game to keep GTA in check.. this is ridiculous, I can already tell thiss game has more than what gta4 had in it. I dont like SR cause its more cartoony gameplay buttt right now its more appealing than stupid gta4 right now..

I was thinking just cause 3 being online would keep gta in check tho if they make one.

p.s. 5:13 so SaintsRow3 now has Warhawks?

the_best_player4700d ago

GTA4 was so boring GTA San Andreas is still king for gameplay.

Saints Row 3 looks like it has fun gameplay to.

showtimefolks4700d ago

and it reminded me of how much fun gta use to be. This reminds me of smaller VC,SA mixture where you can do anything crazy buy property and just have fun blowing things up

flying place and killing who ever is in the way

i hope RS makes a 360 turn and make a fun GTA5 otherwise just give us GTA hd collection

i know i will get many disagree but no one in their right mind would put gta 4 over SR2 in just plain fun factor

disagree to that

metsgaming4700d ago

exactly how i feel. I loved GTA's but when gta4 came out it was so disappointing i went and bought saints row 2 and it was so much better. GTA4 just wasnt fun and they took huge steps backwards. Saints row has the crazy mess around fun that the old gta's used to have. Plus it has good controls unlike gta4. I too really hope Rockstar goes back to the old gta's but they seem to be keeping the gta4 controls in their other games (RDR).

CryWolf4700d ago (Edited 4700d ago )

I want this game so bad now after seeing the gameplay video I love open world games like Saints Row, GTA, Assassin's Creed and prototype series, I'm hoping the next GTA game have some of these over the top features that wasn't in GTA 4 next time around.

SR3 looks freaking awesome, can't wait.

RayRay364701d ago

Yeah same here. Volition is really impressing me. I dont think it's going to out-GTA at GTA's own game though. Best believe the next GTA will be what everybody wanted from jump street and more. It's so great to see competition bringing the best out in companies.

just_looken4701d ago

it looks ok 90% of the stuff they showed were either copied from gta and or copied/enhanced like the jet gta sa had the harrier but without the laser. This gen gamers will say THIS FN RULES POWNS GTA. Yet again like sr2 the old gamers know there just copying gta rockstar should enhance gtasa with 2x more content that would be epic.

blizzard_cool4701d ago

Yeah, I get what you're trying to say. You know how in the first Zelda you could shoot out an arrow with a bow?

It seams the creators of this game have copied that as well and have only replaced the arrows with bullets and the bow with a gun. What a bunch of copycats! /sarcasm

RayRay364701d ago

Name one other franchise directly competing with GTA. There just arent any open world games that are set in the modern era with a gangster/thug style to it. When you have more than one game with that syle, there's bound to be similarities. Its not like they copied it completely, just the foundation of the game. Volition knows there is no Saints Row without GTA.

metsgaming4700d ago

Saints row is a better GTA then GTA4 was

nopunctuation4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

After seeing this im just shocked at how much they are stealing from the last GTA game. Saints Row 2 was pretty bright and colorful but this one is gritty and grey like GTA IV. They should have stayed with the color pallete used in the last 2 games. People wonder why GTA games are kept secret before launch. It is because people like Volition would copy it and release thier own second rate version before it even came out. The crazy weapons are about the only thing original ive seen out of all 3 games. The rest has been a blatent and shameless copy of GTA and they dont deserve to make any money from it yet they make millions. Its makes me sick really. We need some original ideas for the free roam genre but instead we get rip offs like this. The free roam genre isnt the only one either. Look at the FPS games trying to copy Call of Duty to make money. I can remember a time when it payed to be original. A time before capitalism sunk its claws into the industry and it was ok to take a chance. Now we have games that take no risk and steal ideas from other games. This game is the epitome of that. No. No more of this crap. We need original games not a market full of clones. We let them get away with this by buying it. Dont let it happen ever again.

LOGICWINS4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

1. In SR2, when you fall in the ocean, you have the OPTION to automatically warp to land..instead of being OBLIGATED(like GTA) to swim to shore no matter how far you are from it.

2. SR2 has cruise control, GTA doesn't

3. SR2 gives you the option to hold up banks and stores ANY time you want. GTA doesn't.

4. SR2 gives you the option to start a hostage situation(with the ability to literally grab your victim and put a gun to their head as if they were a real life hostage) ANY time you want..GTA doesn't

5. SR2 has drop in drop out online co-op and ALL missions can be played via co-op, GTA has NO online co-op.

6. SR2 gives you the choice to be a man/woman within FOUR different ethnic backgrounds(black, white, asian, latino) GTA doesn't.

7. SR2 gives you the option to pimp your crib, GTA doesn't.

8. SR2 lets you customize your gangs clothing and style and give them a choice between 20+ different taunts. You can even customize the voice and personality of your own character and change your race/gender ANY time during the campaign. GTA doesn't.

9. The partner A.I. in SR2 is SOOOO smart that if you have 4 partners and you hop on a motorbike..the other two partners will get ANOTHER vehicle and ACTUALLY follow you. Not in GTA.

10. In GTA, when you get pulled out of a vehicle by a cop..its game over. Not in SR2.

Thats TEN major gameplay features that are present in Saints Row 2 and not present in GTA...yet you say that they are stealing ideas from GTA? LMAO!

This is just SR2. IMAGINE what Saints Row: The Third will bring to the table.

vickers5004701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

edit* Ah, you got there first, logicwins, and you also had a numbered list of responses to some of his ridiculous arguments.

1. Saints Row is better than GTA at this point in time because it paid homage to the old GTA games, the GTA games we loved. Saint's Row is king for the moment.

2. Rip off? If you had actually played Saint's Row 1 and 2, you would have known that there are plenty unique elements to the Saint's Row franchise that don't exist in GTA. Yes, it does take some inspiration from GTA, but it's not a rip off. Even if it was a "rip off", it's certainly better than the game it ripped off.

3. Every game can't be original. Do you go around complaining about games like Uncharted, Battlefield, Killzone, etc. because they aren't original? A game doesn't have to be original to be good. Some of the highest rated and most beloved games of all time lack quite a bit of originality.

4. "people like Volition would copy it and release thier own second rate version before it even came out."

Yeah, because GTA4 is top quality material. God I can't believe how much fun it is to go virtual bowling! Completely original and totally brilliant! BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! Not only can you go bowling, but you can also play virtual darts, go on virtual dates, hang out with a virtual friend, surf the virtual internet, watch virtual tv, and watch virtual stand up comedians! Wow those are some amazing and totally original ideas.

"Now we have games that take no risk and steal ideas from other games."

Tell me a few of your favorite modern games and I can list more than a few instances of which it "stole" (as you so moronically put it) from other games.

Are you kidding me? Saint's Row is one of the only franchises out there that has the balls to not take itself so g*d d*mned seriously, with the goal of providing a completely over the top, purely FUN based gaming experience, and you claim it's not taking any risks?

VINNIEPAZ4701d ago

nopunctuation is one of thee most hateful gamers I've ever seen. Even when I saw his name I just KNEW he was gonna say something like this.

I cant wait for SR3. Co-op in the last one was a blast!

nopunctuation4701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

1.Kill character. Warp back to land. Problem solved.
Also you can spawn a boat with a cheat.
2.Yeah just take me right out the the gameplay experience by driving for me. No thanks. Not a legitimate feature.

3.GTA San Andreas let you stick up banks and rob them. So did vice city with stores and malls. http://www.youtube.com/watc...

4.Granted. Stil not a great feature. Cops would probably just shoot from behind and your own mobility is limited.

5. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

6.That is not a good idea for a story based game. You character is nameless, faceless and the dialogue is limited as a result. Your character is never called by name or even acknowleged as a he or she. This kills the potential story you could have.

7."Pimp your crib?" Are you 12 years old? This is the most juvenile thing you can do in a non racing game. Why would I want to put needless bling on everything I see? Maybe that is your idea of fun by I left middle school a long time ago.

8.So you can just chance your characters voice in the middle of the game? Talk about inconsistent. I guess if you all about breaking the laws of biology then go for it. Ive already explained how too much customization leads to a lack of a real story. GTA San andreas go it perfect. Saints Row takes it too far.

9.The Gay Tony Add on and the Lost and Damned add on let you do this as well. Your friends can get on another car and follow you. I wont bother with a link since so far ive proven to be more credible than you and have a more vast knowlege of both games while you seem to onlly have knowlege of one and not the other.

10.GTA IV lets you bail from a pull out from a car at early wanted levels. After wanted level 2, they just blow your head off and disredard the cuffing.

(Second comment)
1. What you call paying homage I call stealing. Saints Row lets you play as a criminal that steals cars, shoots guns and kills hookers. That is pretty much GTA with a Saints Row logo stamped over it. Im all for taking inspiration to make your game better but Saints Row has crossed this line 3 times. Imagine if I came out with my own piece of rusty metal and called it a ferarro. You would call that "paying a homage?"

2.See #1

3.True. But these games arent blatently ripping off other games. These are what you would call a "homage" as you put it. They took ideas from other games and made it thier own. Saints Row is the equivalent of taking the Mona Lisa and painting the same thing with a moustache.

4.Nice. List all of the optional stuff you do in GTA IV and call it the main gameplay. Those are sides that you dont ever have to touch. Dont like darts? Fine. You dont have to play it. There is plenty more mayhem to be had that Ispent a great amount of time playing in GTA IV. You dont have any right to judge this game if you didnt get the full experience with the add ons. That made the game fun and put in all the stuff it was missing such as the missed tank (yes a swat tank is a legit tank). How about actually playing GTA IV and not going on opnions for idiots on N4G who call it overrated despite it being the 4th highest rated game of all time. Its obvious neither of you have played more that an hour of GTA IV. Ive played both games. Saints Row is far worse period.

vickers5004701d ago

1. There's a lot more to do in Saint's Row than to simply steal cars, shoot guns and kill hookers. I won't start listing them off because that would take too much time.

2. ~~~

3. No, they're just subtley ripping them off and trying to pass themselves off as original, while Saint's Row is HONEST and out in the open about where its inspiration comes from, and that's one of the reasons why people who aren't idiots don't get pissed about Saints Row, is because the devs never claimed to create a completely original title. You act like if somebody is doing something, then no one else should be allowed to do it. Timesplitters the third person shooter/cover system, so why aren't you getting pissed off at Uncharted? GTA4 ripped off third person over the shoulder shooting mechanics from the wealth of other games out today. Calling it a "rip of" or "stealing" is retarted, and I honestly cannot believe that you think otherwise. It's really sad. They aren't "stealing" or "ripping off", they're borrowing and paying homage. Games like Uncharted, Gears, Killzone, Halo, THOSE games are ripping off other elements, as they don't give any credit to the original inspiration, where as Saint's Row does.

"Saints Row is the equivalent of taking the Mona Lisa and painting the same thing with a moustache."

No, Saint's Row is the equivalent of painting a brand new Mona Lisa that looks better than the original.

"List all of the optional stuff you do in GTA IV and call it the main gameplay."

"There is plenty more mayhem to be had that Ispent a great amount of time playing in GTA IV"

Like what? Running around with extremely sh*tty and clunky on foot controls AND driving controls? Shooting people with the most generic weapon set in video game history? Getting killed by a swarm police as soon as you reach like a 3 or 4+ wanted level without the ability to put in a cheat for unlimited ammo or infinite life or infinite sprint (the things that made GTA FUN to just go around doing), trying to activate what little and crappy cheats there are by pulling out a cell phone, only to have it immediately put away as soon as one bullet touches your body, pretty much making entering cheats in a rampage impossible or extremely hard?

Yeah, that's really some fun mayhem all right. /s

"You dont have any right to judge this game if you didnt get the full experience with the add ons."

Oh yes I do, as the add-ons didn't come out until a few years after the full game. I'm judging GTAIV here, which I played fully.

"That made the game fun and put in all the stuff it was missing"

That's a poor excuse. A game shouldn't have to rely on its DLC to be fun.

"it was missing such as the missed tank (yes a swat tank is a legit tank)"

Ooh a tank, how original!"

"How about actually playing GTA IV and not going on opnions for idiots on N4G who call it overrated despite it being the 4th highest rated game of all time. Its obvious neither of you have played more that an hour of GTA IV"

I've played it, and I've beat it. It's an incredibly boring game once the story is over. Saints Row is still a blast after I've beat the story, as there are still a TON of fun things to do.

vickers5004701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

Had to split this into two comments because it wouldn't fit in one:

"How about actually playing GTA IV and not going on opnions for idiots on N4G who call it overrated despite it being the 4th highest rated game of all time."

As opposed to idiots like you who think that a rating in this day and age determines whether something is good or bad. I guess you must actually think CoD is amazing if you're going by that logic.

"Ive played both games. Saints Row is far worse period."

It's clearly obvious you haven't. Or at least you only gave Saints Row (probably only the first game) 20 minutes or an hour before you quit. I've played and beat both GTA4 and Saint's Row 2, and Saint's Row 2 is FAR better. Period. Only I can give plenty of reasons WHY SR2 is better than GTA4, where as you can only talk sh** about SR2.

uncharted564701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

Dude
You need to understand that there are pioneers and then their are followers. GTA is or was the pioneer of open world games, Mario was for platforming and so on. These games created these genres of games and set the benchmark for other games to work on, improve and revolutionize. Uncharted 2 is the best example for what Im trying to say. Uncharted 2 didnt created platforming, action adventure, storytelling, humor, acting, shooting, cover system. But what it did was, took all these elements refined them and polished them. Threw its own features and twist in the mix, then polished that to create a experience unlike any other. Uncharted 2 is literary the height of action adventure 3 person shooter, cinematic storytelling in a video game.If uncharted 2 is borrowing all these elements, is that ripping off. That means every game today is a rip off. No, Volition took the gta concept and threw its own twist in it. Saints Row is more over the top then the gta series. Do yo know why people hate on GTA 4, because some things that made Gta fun were took out and dumped down. While Gta 4's production value is high its nowhere near as fun as GTA:SA or SR 3. The point is that there is nothing wrong in taking a concept and improving on it, IMPROVING IS NOT A RIP OFF!

Ps: While Im sure SR 3 will be mad fun. Imo now the benchmark for open world games is no more GTA but rather Red Dead Redemption. It is a masterpiece, fun, intriguing and a compelling game unlike any other openworld.

gedapeleda4700d ago

I dont uderstand how come people like theese kind of games,it's only fun for like 10 minutes,

Nitrowolf24701d ago (Edited 4701d ago )

unless they decide to bring back all the fun stuff from past GTA games then no. If the next GTA is anything like 4 then keep me out. This is what GTA use to be .

If you talking sales then yeah.
otherwise GTA has lost most of then fun factor it use to be.

All that stuff they showed off in the video use to be possible in GTA, but in GTA4 you can barely do some of those things.

@Above

I can see what you
If the campaign plays like this and is always filled with these crazy things. Like your not even purposily doing them yourselves and the game is forcing you and they try to put jokes in the story and such, then yeah i understand that.

But aside from the story of GTA4 and Online, what is there really to do in the city?
They made owning money pointless
Most fun cheats from past games are gone
Majority of reviews gave it a free past and ignore all the things it was missing. GTA4 should have been a top 8 for a score

This video, is how GTA4 free Roam, fully around with stuff was suppose to be. It's like that in other titles

This game is meant to be over the top. I can see what you mean though.

Slightly disappointing game but Wo Long had a good creator. I was impressed by Oblivion back in what 05, 06? But the worst i have ever seen, clearly, Valheim.

ModsDoBetter373d ago

What was up with Wo Long?

Not looked at any reviews and did download it on my Xbox before I sold the console but never got around to playing it. Saw it drop in price on PS5 and was thinking of picking it up.

RE: Character creation

Oblivion hold a special place for me, when it came out on PS3, it was the first game of its kind that I had played and the character creator took was amazing.

I do like Monster Hunter: World & FFXIV, personally.
Cyberpunk did good in that department, despite its numerous flaws.

IamTylerDurden1373d ago

I played Oblivion day 1 on 360 and was impressed with the creator. Damn near 20 yrs ago, it was impressive at the time. Special game, unfortunately 90% of current gamers on social media have not a clue about the older stuff. Elder Scrolls is just Skyrim to many. They know not of Gothic and the old guard that paved the way. Flimsy ass rhetoric and recycled opinions about the same bs is what garners attention. Meme culture. Insight and intellect hold no place on the current day internet. Fuck likes, follows, BS. I say what i believe is relevant, what i'm interested in, and following means fuck all bc i don't respect 99% of the ppl online anyway.

For the "TLDR" bs. I'ma not space it out on purpose. Fuck you very much folks.
