Sonic Generations Demo Gameplay (HD 1080p)

@Ve3tro: "The Sonic Generations demo has finally released on Xbox Live and PSN, it features the Green Hill level. Here’s a video of the level."

Jack-Dangerously4696d ago

mmmmmm... Finally... The second coming.

Yi-Long4696d ago

... it's only the 2D level (which was the only thing I was interested in anyway), and it looks great and it comes very close to the old gameplay.

I say 'very close', but it's not perfect (yet?). When you come of bumpers it's hard to immediately give direction, you have to keep pressing right (or left) to keep pace, and when you're running in a looping it's hard to turn into a ball like you could in the old games by pressing 'down'.

I hope they fix all that stuff, and it could be the best Sonic game since Sonic CD (if the 3D levels don't screw it up...)

Redempteur4696d ago

nice smoke & water effects ..this scream "HD remake" as opposed to SONIC 4 "overly clean approch " that didn't feel right IMO

The Meerkat4696d ago

Looks like someone at Sega has listened to the fans.

About bloody time too.

TheBlackSmoke4696d ago (Edited 4696d ago )

Wasn't that supposed to be sonic 4? Oh yeah then everyone remembered how the gameplay has always been shit. Aside from looking nicer how is this in anyway different?

Most overrated series ever.

Its not trolling, Im just not blinded by my childhood nostalgia.

So you think that making a game that controls like the original solves the mystery of why sonic has been garbage for so many years?

Your still in the green hill zone holding forward for 70% of the level and pressing jump when a spike is under your ass. woop dee doo, how some gamers are easily amused.

Face it, this franchise is tired. Sega have tried everything to make a sonic game relevant and in the end they just revert back to the same old crap.

Jack-Dangerously4696d ago (Edited 4696d ago )

Nice troll... The reason(which I'm sure you actually already know) that it wasn't praised by fans was really because of the overly floaty physics. Closer to lbp than Sonic imo.

That and the look of Sonic was the new one and not the original....

Why would you come to a Sonic article just to say something incredibly stupid like that?

Does that make you feel better about yourself?

Obvious sad troll is obviously sad. << and a troll lmao

Baka-akaB4696d ago

and 4 didnt really look half as good . It looked like the iphone piece of crap episodic game that it really was .

Jack-Dangerously4696d ago

Lol. Well, your one bubble says otherwise buddy.

Going onto an article JUST to call a game crap is trolling.

nintenflo4696d ago

Played it this morning it's actually very good, bit of a shame there are no modern sonic sections to try out but still fun anyway!

Yi-Long4696d ago

... but with a little gameplay-tweaking, it definitely has the potential to be great.... :)

SuperSaiyan44696d ago

My dream has come true, for too long have I dreamt of Sega doing something like this to revive my poor friend Sonic back from his death so finally thank you SEGA!

MWH4696d ago (Edited 4696d ago )

could this be it?! SEGA put back old favorites Tails and Knuckes in there and anything that makes the game feel more lively such as more enemies sounds and background creatures or something perhaps we seen tails or knuckles battling monsters too in the background, i felt it was a bit silent and lonely.

The 7 Best Sonic the Hedgehog Games: Racing through Time

Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?

Rebel_Scum85d ago

Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.

Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.

Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Snookies1285d ago

Nothing wrong with putting Generations over Mania. Generations had a lot more to it. Mania was just a bit too short, despite how amazing it was. They're both top-tier Sonic games though.

Profchaos85d ago (Edited 85d ago )

I don't think mania was to short given 1,2,3, knuckles were between 1 and 3 hours long.

Mania was 5 hours roughly

However i say the originals feel more repayable because they are so short

Profchaos85d ago (Edited 85d ago )

The 8 bit games were pretty bad overall do you mean the 16 bit ones

Rebel_Scum85d ago

Nope. Sonic 1 & 2 on the master system were great. Dont confuse these with the game gear versions either.

Profchaos85d ago

Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2

persona4chie85d ago

Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭

Chocoburger84d ago

Even as a Sonic fan, I didn't really care for those games, and getting the Chaos Emeralds were freakin' horrible. Even with an emulator and save states, I didn't have the desire to try. I also didn't like most of the levels or bosses either. Unfortunately, DiMPs aren't good at making Sonic games.

Sonic Handheld Games that Need Remasters after Origins

BLG writes: "With the success of the films and the promise of Frontiers, it’s possible that we’re ushering in a new golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog. While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
