New Wii U Dev Kits Coming Soon

Sega is saying that Nintendo will ship out new development kits in the next few weeks that will increase performance and cover the online infrastructure.

TheViper4736d ago

From underclocked kits which we've seen running Killer Freaks, Ghost Recon Online, the Zelda Demo and the Garden Demo to what may be totally new hardware.....yes please.

Also, the guy with the motion tracker is screwed.

Ness-Psi4736d ago

I cant wait to see what they do with inproved dev kits and to see some actual gameplay (from the new dev kits).

when i see any alien stuff it reminds me of bill paxtons character screaming "were all gonna die man" lol.

TheViper4736d ago

"Game over, man. Game over."

matey4736d ago

Nintendo will ship the ultimate beast i reckon 900mhz gpu and a 6 core power7 cpu with 3.5 ghz per core lets wait and see

TheViper4736d ago

As nice as that sounds on paper, that would likely generate far too much heat for that case and cooling system to dissipate.

The GPU clocks will definitely be lower than that. I'm hoping that they utilize the new Southern Islands GPU that AMD spoke about yesterday. Something from the midrange class would still be incredibly powerful and have a low enough TDP to work in a console case form factor.

The power7 CPU will likely be 4 cores. 6 is probably overkill for video games and the wattage on a 6 core Power7 at 3.5 would be too much. Drop the clocks a bit and go 4 core and you've got something.

matey4736d ago

it will be 6 cores i think plus its a micro proccessor power cpu so it wont get that hot m8

TheViper4736d ago

OK, I have a suggestion. Why don't you take the fan and heatsink off the microprocessor in your computer, run a CPU intensive application and see how hot it gets. And I bet it's not even 6 cores.

RevXM4736d ago

@ matey

All cpu's are micro processors!
All that is used in computers that is.

And I can assure 99.9% of them will die and overheat quickly withouth proper ventilation and or cooling.

The Cell in ps3 is a microprocessor. it has 8 active cores running at 3.2 GHz... remove the fan and it to will melt.

a load of work on millions!!! of transistors shifting
3 200 000 000 times per second on each of the 8 cores... on a die that is smaller than a SD card, maybe even your thumb nail... I tell you it will melt eventually... or really fast like if you start up a game.

fatstarr4736d ago

yea he doesnt know cpus, a pentium 4 can cook food if you take off the heat sink.

im sure nintendo will have a nice cooling system cant wait till next year.

hahaha i love your comment man but thats way out there

id say 4 core 2.8-3.3 ghz

700-800 mhz gpu maybe 2 of em

but im already excited with what we have

TheViper4736d ago

"maybe 2 of em".

As in 2 GPU's? Not a chance. While AMD has done an admirable job getting their crossfire scaling up, it's not 100% which is not a good use of components in a consumer product (it's fine for consumers to do it aftermarket if they want).

And that's to say nothing of the power requirements and heat dissipation system required for 2 GPU's.

This is probably the most solid and reliable news to come from a good source in many days! Seeing as to Sega does have actual real hardware development hardware and can paint a real picture of what Nintendo's future plans may look like for us gamers...

AWBrawler4736d ago

will we finally see a Mario and sonic Adventure? The problem of sonic being to fast for Mario to keep up can be solved by using the Wii U pad, and adding in some obstacles where he needs mario to help out. The Co-op would be amazing.

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H914d ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX14d ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

H914d ago

I didn't do any gymnastics I can assure you, honestly I don't know why you think that, not hating I seriously don't see why you think that

ZeekQuattro14d ago

Yeah I don't know where that came from. It's rare for Nintendo to flat out aquire studios. Guess they were trying to be edgy but why flex on this studio. 🤣

Kneetos13d ago

At least they are safer from layoffs with Nintendo then any other company

banger8814d ago

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk7714d ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos14d ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

SonOfOsiris14d ago

Yeah this guys ported MK11 which is great, Hogwarts Legacy which is great, and MK1 is now ok, play it every day
