Gears of War Creator: 'I Would Love to Make a Cool Kinect Game'

Gears of War 3 won't be supporting Kinect when it ships on Xbox 360 this fall, but that doesn't mean that Epic and Gears designer Cliff Bleszinski aren't thinking about the motion control camera. It was quite evident from Microsoft's E3 press conference that the company is trying to lure more core gamers to Kinect by adding in interesting Kinect controls or features while still retaining traditional controls. That's something that appeals very much to Bleszinski.

If you really do have an account here Cliffy and you're ego is as big as we've all heard, listen up:

I'd definately give it a go if all you did was kick Cliffy in coinpurse repeatedly...... That would sell copies!

captain-obvious4737d ago (Edited 4737d ago )

he wont
unless he copies something like he did with kill.switch and gears

so far to me this guy is a 1 trick pony
he is yet to prove him self in something other than gears

Nintenuendo4737d ago

@captain-obvious,

He's certainly not a one-trick-pony to anybody who's been PC gaming for any reasonable amount of time.

He played a big role in the development of Unreal and Unreal Tournament, which were huge and revolutionary games for the FPS genre. He's definitely earned some respect in my book.

gamingdroid4736d ago

I would say, Gears of War alone is enough proof considering nobody has made a game to compete with Gears of War so far.

Cliff Bleszinski also has credit in the following games:

Bulletstorm (2011), Electronic Arts
Lost Planet 2 (2010), CE Europe Ltd.[8]

@ above
lol

that's basically a list of games that EPIC worked on
just because he WORKS at EPIC does not mean that he MADE all of their games

the only 2 games he is known for is gears and Jazz Jackrabbit
and even 90% of gamers dont know that game
so yes

Cliffy B. is just being fake as he kisses M$ ass in this article.

epic is so going Multi-plat and they wish Gears3 was multi-plat.

Epic wasting time on an Kinect game is just that a waste of time. Epic needs to do something bigger than Gears with their new IP now that the PC and Sony are open to them.

Objective4737d ago

'Cos he apparently plays games made by the competition, you heard of Killzone?

Stealth20k4737d ago

impossible

gears of sesame street

ScubaSteve14737d ago

i would love to see that elmo fighting or sesame street getting destroyed

Caleb_1414737d ago

Chainsawing Elmo... certainly would look funny with yellow feathers spraying all over the place and him flapping his wings and squawking.

kramun4737d ago

I don't like hating on things, but after experiencing Kinect I would have to say it isn't a viable way of playing games. As a supplement to playing games with a controller I think it could work really well. But as it is I'm not too keen on it.

Neko_Mega4737d ago

If he does, its going to blow. Because I wouldn't play anything using Kinect, not even if they tell me its for hardcore gamers.

I like using my controller, it seems to pick up my movement alot faster then a web cam.

Im sure he would love it. More money for him.

OtterX86d ago

Yea, I remember seeing him and his Lamborghini at one point in history. Lol, I think that kind of gives it away.

rippermcrip86d ago

Doubtful he gets any residuals from anything Gears related.

rippermcrip85d ago

Bunch of clowns down voting without any explanation of how exactly he is getting money off Gears. You think Notch still gets Minecraft money too?

jznrpg84d ago (Edited 84d ago )

Depends on the contract. Some contracts have residuals some don’t

Whitey2k86d ago

Sometimes I don't get what he says half the times. He could of put gears on the playstation from the start but he's fanboyness for xbox got in the way

Notellin86d ago

I imagine this is exactly how fanboys feel how this went down. Microsoft paid for all the development and took all the risk off Epic games for a new IP.

It has nothing to do with anyone being a fanboy. Well other than yourself who oversimplified this entire franchises history.

LoveSpuds86d ago

I agree Notellin, however, once he was in bed with MS he did become pretty 'anti Sony' ans was such a shill for MS.

Hofstaderman85d ago

This. And Sony also does this with titles these days.

shinoff218385d ago

I thought it was said cliffs shopped it around hence rumors of a ps3 demo being out there. If ms took on all the cost, why is there a ps3 demo?

Rude-ro85d ago

Not true at all.
Microsoft had to buy the ip because the contract ran out on keeping it exclusive.
Microsoft took no risk, they just marketed the game and payed for a contract.
Not hard to find out.

Your the the fanboy

Sciurus_vulgaris86d ago

No, Epic signed a development and publishing contract with Xbox for Gears of War. After Judgement Microsoft still had the Gears of War publishing rights. Epic then sold the Gears of War IP to Microsoft in 2014. Cliffy B never owned Gears of War, he was just a lead designer of the series.

rippermcrip85d ago

Ya I don't know what people are saying about CliffyB making money of Gears sales nowadays. He was never the owner and Epic no longer owns it either.

ChasterMies85d ago

“He could of put gears on the playstation from the start but he's fanboyness for xbox got in the way”

It has nothing to do with fondness for the Xbox platform. Microsoft paid for exclusivity.

Travesty86d ago (Edited 86d ago )

Well when you look at the sales perspective of ps5. It has a big audience selling over a 2 to 1 ratio. It makes money sense.
Fanboy era was at its prime during the ps3-360 generation. It’s not as toxic as it once was, thankfully. People grow out of it eventually. I have my preference just as the next person. That being said it’s coming to be more about expanding availability instead of standing behind a brand. Much more Microsoft than Sony. But Sony will probably move up its time of PC release for increase revenue.
We will see, it’s just speculation.

Psychonaut8586d ago

CliffyB is like David Jaffe at this point, always quick with the opinions but haven’t made a successful game in over a decade at this point. Do any of us really care what they think about anything? I certainly don’t.

shinoff218385d ago

I never liked the guy tbh but he's got more relevance in gaming then we do.

Skuletor85d ago

CliffyB, I haven't heard that name since Lawbreakers flopped.
