There Are No ‘Exclusive Pre-Order Bonuses’ For Battlefield 3 - StickTwiddlers

It appears that DICE and EA have joined in on the ridiculous nickel and dime schemes for the highly anticipated Battlefield 3 and have announced the ‘Physical Warfare’ pre-order bonus pack, exclusively from GAME and Gamestation in the UK. Fans, however, are under the impression that the content in included in this pack won’t be made openly available to all at a later date. The best case scenario painted by the article is that we'll be able to buy that DLC on or after release. That's not really fair. =/

They've already stated that there'll be similar packs for the rest of the world... but the anger is over offering exclusive items that have an in-game impact (such as the flash supressor).

Whether they offer it later for a fee or free, or you can still unlock the weapons, do you still want people to start with superior weapons by pre-ordering?

I mean, think of how useless the weapons were in the middle of the unlock tree with weapons in Bad Company 2. Weaker weapon, weaker, weaker, OH! An extra pixel's worth of better accuracy.....oh but the strength and fire speed are half of the starting weapon....eh.

it's still not cleared up. WHAT DOES EXCLUSIVE MEAN? if they exclusively have the gun then other people outside of europe won't have all of the guns and vice-versa if other countries get similar packs. IMBALANCE FROM DAY 1. That doesn't sound like a good battlefield game.

really wanna buy bf3 this year but with all the talkin bout bf3 is gonna be 100% free, I believe it when i see it. My money is on that even though it will be free it'll req an online pass screwing over those who own a system with multiple users.

If you buy the game Day 1 (asssuming it's a new game) then you shouldn't have to pay for the EA pass.
I buy most of my games new anyways, and I was happy with BC2 since the DLC was free.

EDIT: Just read the thing about multiple users. Oh well, perhaps sharing the same account is a decent price for free DLC (assuming it is free for BF3 too)

I intend to buy the game new (lol at disagrees) but the pass only applies to the user redeeming it, leaving the other users not having access to the full game. Which in imo is almost as cheap a tactic as charging $15 for a map pack *cough* COD *cough*

but true perhaps the pros (online bonuses) outweigh the cons in this case

Sounds like they're doing an EA again(ripping off people like the $10 "VIP pass" for content that was already on the disc unlocked a year later.. on BFBC2)

The T88 is my favorite LMG so this actually kinda matters to me. It better be unlockable through regular means.

And it's not so much about the content but about the practice. IMO holding back content and making it exclusive is just dirty business.

Demize also said that 'The Physical Warfare Pack is fully exclusive. There's no other way to get those 4 items.' when there's really only 3 exclusive items (the Dao-12 is a day 1 unlock)

I wouldn't be surprised to see them available somehow. Especially if the community complains about it.

I still have no clue why they had to make these items exclusive. Surely an expansion pack is enough to seal the deal on pre-orders? ... Or throw in some cosmetic DLC or reskins if it has to be retailer-specific. Just don't meddle with the gameplay.

That is true, anything can change based on community feedback but what ticks me off is when people do complain about these issues and get labeled as "whiners". One guy complained on the official EAUK forums and everyone ganged up on him, I was actually shocked that so many people are OK with this.

If people don't complain it just sets a precedent that it's ok for them to do this.

And that is so true, the Back to Karkand maps should be MORE than enough to get people to pre-order, this just seems so unnecessary.

The main reason we are discontent with this is because a handful of players will have guns and attachments we don't have. That is IMBALANCE, Battlefield thrives on Balance. DO YOU SEE NOW?

It's all really sucky stuff just to tell ya. LMG in all the BF games is terrible. Everyone is able to unlock the shotty so that doesn't matter. The special ammo is only good if you're shooting through wood or metal up close (When will that ever happen). Then you really don't need a flash suppressor.

I really don't understand what EA is trying to achieve here. At this rate they're only going to alienate some of their fanbase and drive them away to other franchises(eg:- MW3). They worked so hard to capture the attention of millions of gamers, only to come up with s**t like this.
