Darksiders 2 Premier Trailer

Game Informer’s July cover story is Vigil Games' Darksiders II, the post-apocalyptic ode to titles like God of War and Legend of Zelda. If you can’t wait to get copies of the issue in your hand then you’re in luck, because you can catch an exclusive first look at the game right here.

The trailer recaps events that happened in the first Darksiders and sets up the story for Darksiders II. You’ll also get to see the horseman Death in action and get a brief glimpse of his new mount, Despair.

How official is that image? War and Death look epic, and are exactly their counterparts in the game, and the guy on the right looks like one sleek badass. However that chick on the top has me annoyed, arent they supposed to be brothers?

There isn't really any surprise when it comes to the character's designs. Hell, we even know (a little) about one important ennemy even though we could only hear her voice in the game:

I suppose it fits with the "prophesied end of the world", but I would at least like to finish it before everyone dies. Lol.

This trailer seems to suggest that you will be playing only as Death for this game, which also suggest that maybe they will release more games playing as the other horsemen, but is that really a good idea? Seems like it would be kind of like milking it.

But anyway, loved the first game. Can't wait for this one. GET IT OUT SOON THQ!!

Hey, Darksiders was released in January 2010.
Who knows, Darksiders 2 might get a January 2012 release date...

Then you would only have to wait for 7 months.

Of course, it could also get a December 21st 2012 release date...

I hope Death will be as interesting as War was.
I remember an article saying Darksiders 2 would be a midquel (which is confirmed now) but Darksiders 3 would continue right after the first game's ending.
Of course, this doesn't mean we'd play as War again as there are 2 other horsemen but it would serve to bring us closer to the story's conclusion.

But honestly, even if they made a game for each horseman, I wouldn't call it "milking" as long as the story stays fresh, the environments keep being renewed and the gameplay doesn't remain unchanged.

For some reason I don't see Famine and Pestilence getting their own games. Always saw them as the Ringo and Gorge of the group where Death is Lennon and War is Paul.

Maybe they'll get one together so by the fourth game they can all assemble for the reunion...

@newn4gguy trust me. You need to give every game a chance. Its not a rip off. Darksiders only borrows a few of the aspects of GoW. Darksiders is open world. God of War 1 and 2 (aint played 3 so I dont know) isnt.

Dantes Inferno is great too. If anything. Dantes Inferno is a rip off. Just give it another chance.

Dude, Dante's Inferno is inferior to Darksiders. Trust me, finish the game. Think God of War mixed with Legend of Zelda's more open world and kickass puzzles. You definitely need to get past your first hour mark. Hell, that's barely even after the initial apocalypse scene.

Except it's not a god of war clone . If you had kept going you'd notice an adventure exploration title a la zelda /metroidvania , hence no fighting mechanics supposed to rival dmc , gow , bayonetta or a ninja gaiden .

Whoa whoa, keep going.
This is, along with Castlevania : Lords of Shadow, one of the few games that keep getting better and better the more you play, sometimes starting slow and making you think it's quite bad before making you drop your jaw as you realize how deceiving your first impressions were.

Edit: All those comments replying to you should make you realize that you have to give Darksiders another chance. It isn't anything like God of War. It's quite similar to Zelda, and that's a good thing, but its design and general atmosphere makes it a very unique experience. Its climax is also quite awesome.

There's also the fact that the game is (at least) 14 hours long, so you've barely seen anything with an hour of gameplay, especially knowing where the game starts.
Darkiders' demo would have been a better way to understand how the game works, as it is a 1 hour long journey through one of the game's dungeons.

OMG yes. It's one of those games that takes a while for it to get going. But damn, once it get's going you'll think it's a goty contender.

Seriously, it has quite a few flaws, but there's something about Darksiders that makes you feel as if it could be a goty winner if the flaws were fixed, and some extra polishing was implemented.

Dude, graphics are not nearly as important as you think. As someone with a Rare logo as his avatar, you should know that.

I, too, noticed that.
And I clearly remember telling myself, "Eww, this is ugly", when Darksiders' prologue started.

But I had already played the demo before, so I knew what the game had in store for me.

You can't say it wasn't beautiful. It was amazing, gorgeous, jaw-dropping, mesmerizing, etc... The art style, the colors, the dungeons' designs, everything was perfect. Just because textures don't all look as good as The Witcher 2's textures, doesn't mean the game won't be amazing looking.

It's all about the atmosphere, and Darksiders 2's one is looking a lot darker than the first game.

I'd have liked, of course, to see graphical improvements, as a few things were noticeable in the original, but who knows, maybe they did improve on things. I can't judge basing myself on a Reveal trailer.

But it doesn't matter. This game can't be less beautiful than Darksiders 1, and that's enough for me to know I'll buy it.
