VGrevolution| Hunted : The Demon's Forge Review

VGR: "I wasn’t even aware of this title before PAX East. My friend mentioned wanting to check it out and me being a fan of hack-n-slash titles, I obliged. I feel that inXile has improved upon the hack-n-slash action adventure genre with this title and competitors now have to take notes. With several of these games coming out (or already out) like The First Templar, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and The Cursed Crusade it will take a lot to stand out in this crowded season.

The best way I can describe it though is that Hunted is a blend of classic hack-n-slash mixed with various improvements big and small, with nice additions that allow for much more replayability that is rare for these types of games."

OK, good review. I'll need more data before i'll commit though.

VampiricDragon4716d ago (Edited 4716d ago )

so what is this? rpg or hack and slash action adventure?

Reading the review they make it seem like its pure action adventure hack and slash

but for some reason I was under the impression this was an rpg

Pintheshadows4716d ago

It's an action game with RPG elements basically. I think that is easy to gather from the review.

VampiricDragon4716d ago

why the disagree I was asking a question ( General statement)

So its not an rpg persay?

ceed9114716d ago

Its not an RPG the most RPG you get is being able to choose what skills/spell to use/upgrade.

Weapons are more like a shooter title where you pick them up on the course of your missions.

I didnt see it as an RPG at all though more like a Resident Evil 5 type experience.

VampiricDragon4716d ago (Edited 4716d ago )

ah ok I check rpgamer alot and its on the upcoming release schedule.

But then again so is zelda and thats not an rpg either per say

So I guess they will just include any action adventure game and put it up

@shadows

for some reason I thought this was an rpg (maybe because bethesda was publishing)

But its not so its cool

Before purchasing I wanted to know what I was getting into

Pintheshadows4716d ago

Not a balls out rpg no. This review makes it sound more in the ball park of rpg lite rather than full on Witcher 2/ Demon Souls goodness. It looks like it could be fun.

And yes N4G community, I have finally played the Witcher 2 for about 3 hours and it was good.

Buried Gems In The History - 5 Underrated Games That Still Worth To Play

by Caspar Leblanc:
"When you first started playing Spec Ops: The Line , you might feel that it’s just another brainless third person shooter, and some parts are kind of boring, that’s what I thought as well, but I was really into shooter games so I finished it and I was totally impressed by its story, don’t worry not spoilers, If you want to know why this game is on the list, and you are interested in good stories, go play it and pay attention to the plot, you will agree my opinion afterwards."

The Saboteur was great, nice art style and such a good soundtrack. Hunted was cool but very flawed.

Alice the Madness Returns is still really cool for those who like the premise. The original Dead Space holds up well. Catherine has aged incredibly well. The Suda 51 games are all still great if you can dig quirkiness (Shadows of the damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer is dead). There are lots more, many have had remasters already though.

NouveauBlanc2024d ago

Totally agree, Alice the Madness Returns was good, and Split Second mentioned in the article was not bad as well

LoveSpuds2024d ago

I always felt that Saboteur was under appreciated, I really did like that game a lot. It was a real shame when Pandemic got shut down.

The Underrated Files: Video Game Soundtracks You (Probably) Missed

Forbes: At the PAX East Composer’s Panel, an interesting question was posed to composer Kevin Riepl: aside from Aliens: Colonial Marines, had he ever poured so much time and work into a soundtrack only to have the game suck or go largely unnoticed? When a game does as poorly as Aliens: Colonial Maries did, critically, it’s very rare that people then attempt to hunt down the soundtrack. Likewise, when a game releases to a mediocre or lukewarm fanfare, the soundtrack rarely sees publication.
