Sledgehammer showing signs of fatigue with MW3. Concerns of a Sub-Par online experience.

Infinity Ward, of course, is the well-known developer of Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 that became a household name last year when their founders left publisher Activision over messy handling from the publisher. Now those people who remain are the ones handling the core development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, although mostly just the single-player portion of the game.

So IW is only really doing the SP part of the game? Kinda weird, they'll still get the credit though if everyone loves it. I personally don't think the MP will be any different from the rest of the CoDs though, whether or not it's sub-par is all up to the individual.

Welshy4740d ago (Edited 4740d ago )

hasnt every game since COD4 online been try-hard and sub par?

il buy preowned/rent MW3 since it has a scottish protagonist in the campaign haha.

if anyone plays MW3 over BF3 or uncharted 3 then its safe to say they are either stupid or just "a couple of hours after work" casual gamers

personally i think COD does a fine job keeping screaming racist 12 year olds off my GT5/UC3/BFBC2 online binges

edit: i meant UC2 of course, but the point stands for when the UC3 beta goes live =D

Nes_Daze4740d ago

You know...I never thought about that, the idea that COD is a filter standing in the way of 12 yr olds from reaching those games you mentioned. Good way of seeing it, lol.

ATiElite4740d ago (Edited 4740d ago )

Thank you thank you thank you!

I know i have bashed MW2 in the past (and consoles in general) but thank the Gaming Gods for Xbox Live and Modern Warfare cause if it wasn't for these two brilliant devices all those little racist, foul language using, wanna be gangsters, living in the suburbs, Fake Internet tough guys, wannabe Cyber Bullies, crying 12 year old little bastards would be on their Mom and Dad's computer turning PC Online gaming into a nightmare of LSD and Ritalin mixed with Sesame Street.

bubbles up for the well said reminder!

Killzone3___4740d ago

i can't play uncharted 2 multiplayer :( , i always get error it says {error synce models} .. anyonehelp me ? ..

MagicGamer4740d ago

Sub-Par for the standard I think is what the article means. Standard refering to the last game of the series.

Welshy4740d ago

sweet mother of christ...

if MW3 is sup-par to the standards of black ops there is truely no hope lol

BornCursed4740d ago

I agree. Although it may very well be. I hate that so much has changed since the series began.

blumatt4740d ago (Edited 4740d ago )

Give me CoD4 style killstreaks. 3-UAV 5-Airstrike 7-Helicopter Simple killstreaks, not retarded ones like the RC Car in Black Ops or the nearly-impossible-to-destroy choppers and planes in MW2.

Soldierone4740d ago

Not gonna happen unless there is a classic mode.

blumatt4739d ago

Then I hope there's a classic mode, cause I'll be on it.

spicelicka4740d ago

well exactly because of that concern they're just gonna use the same multiplayer that's been used since cod4.

waterboy4740d ago

i dont get whats the same about it

MagicGamer4740d ago

Nothing is supposed to be the same. Unfortunately we may see alot of the same because of the lack of expertise and staff to fulfill a order that was leaked early and now being rushed.

spicelicka4734d ago

well let's see, it's the same engine, 90% of the guns are going to be similar, they're just going to rename the challenges in the barracks, maybe add a couple of new game modes, and pretty much everything else will be same.

No innovation like vehicle combat or any such major overhul, like the difference from cod3 to cod4, so i don't get what you don't get about it being the same?

MagicGamer4740d ago

I honestly think most gamers are going to buy the game no matter what. Even if all gaming websites all over the world said it's just a re-make of older versions. COD has a place in gaming history that will always be a force to reckon with. The problem I agree with is hiring a somewhat inexperienced team for a AAA title. We may be surprised though. I hope so.

Thesonygeniuses4740d ago

Yea, 97% of gamers don't even pay attention to the developer. If the game is good, they are happy.

ATiElite4740d ago

i will politely disagree!

I think anyone who is a Core or Hardcore gamer knows their favorite developer or what devs to stay away from. Many people have asked me what separates a Core from a casual well knowing Devs studios and the history of video games are some of the traits of a Core gamer.

anyway ask a gamer their top 5 favorite games then ask them the DEV studio that made it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - GSC Game world
Half Life - Valve
Battlefield - DICE
Arma 2 - Bohemia
Grand Theft Auto - R* North
The Witcher - CD Projekt Red

Codemasters = big disappointment for me!
Ubisoft = Underachievers to me!

Thesonygeniuses4740d ago

Well Call of Duty Sales like crazy, but i bet almost close to none will know or care about the dev studio. Trust me, i work in the industry.

Call of Duty Players Disappointed by $80 B.E.A.S.T. Glove Bundle Deal

Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

Gridknac33d ago

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

X-2332d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.

Cheech And Chong Are Coming To Call Of Duty Because Everything Must Be Consumed

The famous comedy duo is the latest example of pop culture becoming one big grey blob

Christopher48d ago

Certain to have some sort of reference to their online store for CBD/THC chews, which is advertising heavily online the last month or two.

Sciurus_vulgaris48d ago

The randomness of the multiplayer characters is one of reason I quit playing COD after briefly returning in 2022. We got Space Marines, rappers, tree monsters etc. all in a series called “ Modern Warfare”.

OtterX48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

I think if there was ever a time for a competitor to rise up and take away some of Call of Duty's thunder, the time would be now. A military shooter that takes itself seriously, not sold out to Fortnitism. Easier said than done, I know... but the time is ripe.

I can't stand this stuff either.

Palitera47d ago

There are tons of MP shooters that make no profit, if you're looking for one of those

fsfsxii47d ago

You guys have been saying this shit since 2009. Fortunately, nobody’s bringing down cod anytime soon, if ever.

crazyCoconuts47d ago

I agree. I really didn't like how the silliness takes away the gritty origins. That and all the crazy effects... dunno. I'm still playing it but I'd love for someone to steal their cheese and cater to grittier players

OtterX47d ago

@fsfsxii It's not so much wanting COD itself to die as it is wanting this silliness to die. Like CrazyCoconuts said, it takes from the grittiness. Many OG COD players want a straightup Military shooter experience, not silly costume time at Carnival.

is this what the kids want these days a pair of iconic stoners who were big in the 70s and have kind of held on I enjoyed their movies decades ago but I never recall the movie where cheech infiltrates a enemy base while chong snipes for support guess I must of missed that one

Man I'm getting to old for this

Knightofelemia48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

Cheech just looks so wrong in the picture.

Profchaos47d ago

Why just why. cod up in smoke

anast47d ago

They charge too much for a game that is kitsch.
