Game Informer's Matt Helgeson reviews and scores Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, with Andrew Reiner giving a second opinion.

Concept: Take the tried and true Ratchet & Clank formula and use the PS3's power to shoot the production values through the roof

Graphics: In its own colorful way, this is as impressive as BioShock or Gears of War. The cutscenes really do resemble an animated CG movie

Sound: As always, the hilarious voiceovers are top-notch, as is the rousing score

Playability: The Clank levels are a bit lackluster, but the core platforming and shooting is better than it's ever been

Entertainment: While not doing much in terms of innovation, this is as much pure fun as you'll have this fall playing a video game

Replay: Moderate

People should look for the AVERAGE SCORE/RATING or CONSENSUS out of many, many reviews. One or two less-than-stellar scores from GameSpot or 1UP are not going to make too much difference for the average scores. This game will most likely end up with over 90% at Metacritic and GameRanking -- which are really the only review sources that matter.

What a couple pathetic sites. They thought everyone else was going to do the usual trashing PS3 games get and no one else went along and everyone can see 1Up and GameSpot for the idiotic fanboy hittrolling sites they really are.

Make sure you AdBlock or whatever you use on their sites so you run up their bandwidth and starve them of their ad revenues.

They got it yesterday. I have played it about an hour. If anyone was wondering the first level is the demo level. I have been trying to get to the first boss, but the game is big. it just keeps going. I'm on the 3rd planted in only one hour and no boss yet. thats a good thing. it holds at 60 FPS and lots of stuff going on all around you.

My advice is to play this game slowly and look at all the detail. there is tons of eye candy:)

well lets jst keep the 9's coming am jst gonna ignore gspot and 1up. They may have ruined its chance to be top ps3 game on megacritic. Oblivion has been the top game for ages and that jst angers me. Gspot brought it dwn frm 9.3 to 9.0 with their 7.5 review but we'll let that slide they still havnt added a couple of reviews and they havnt added play magazines 10/10.

as this(PS3) is the first console I have ever owned really(since I don't count my original NES); but this game looks fun as hell. Soon as I bought my PS3 I bought about 12 PS2 games along with 6 PS3 games(have the 60g version). I totally love this thing and can't wait to try this game out.

But Halo 3 IS a 7/10 game. Crappy last gen looking graphics, 640p sub-HD graphics, crap networking, no dedicated servers, only 16 players per game

Ratchet and Clank is a true next gen AAA title with 720p 60fps unprecedented graphics, perfect controls, insane variety and quality of gameplay, huge replay value.

I don't really care about scores, but I will say that I like Game Informer and their 2 review/second opinion idea.

I also really like the graphical layout of their magazine. Another positive is that they give very detailed previews of games. And again, the layout looks nice...

They seem to at least try support their opinions with substantive reasons. Something that we see lacking in other reviews.

Nobody ouside of 1UP gave this game less than a 9 and this is not the end of the story. GameRankings ain't really up to date, they is no GameSpot score yet and guess what? gameSpot gave this game a 7.5, holycrap a freaking 7.5. From what I've heard from people (people that I personally know and are dedicated 360 gamers, not some anonymous online user), Halo 3 is pretty much the same (gameplay wise), only with shinier graphics. So if you want to go to the opinion that Ratchet and Clank is the same PS2 thing, then fine. The same opinion goes to Halo 3.

rachet and clank looks next gen.. halo 3 looked like a ported version of halo 2 with better lighting effects.. A lot of sites are saying rachet is the best looking game so far this gen.

Halo 3 got a lot of negatives in the graphics department from websites.. The only thing that saved that game from bombing was the multi player.. Halo 3 was over rated not rachet and clank..

I am surprised a lot of you get hung up by Gamespot or any other negative comment! We are all entitled to an opinion. I am happy to check all reviews and the majority tend to get my following. Ratchet ain't normally my type of game but i think it looks ace and can't wait to play it. And i certainly won't let 1 or 2 negative comments after 10 good ones stop me.

For the simple reason - for months now we stated that some sites are biased. Not just biased - extremely biased. The are on a totally different planet when reviewing PS3 games. This got shouted down. Why make a big deal about it? Because if you play football, and the ref clearly plays with your opponents against you, then you can not take the score seriously.

This review proves beyond the shadow of a doubt - and many xbots are agreeing with it now - that the reviewers are not treating PS3 titles fairly. Even XB360 fans who would like to see the PS3 go down is a bit shocked by this score. It is a title on par with many of the 10/10 titles out there, and most reviews agree - and then - bang!!! 7.5!!!

Yeah right. Time to get the reviewers fired - because this kind of bias is gonna do some big damage to the site that publishes these "reviews" which is more a nitpicking list - down to less than a page - to try and justify a low score - gives up on finding fault - blames "too much variety" - and gives it a low score anyway. Wow!!! What next? The game is so good that we just can not believe it. We have take points of for it being too good?

This is the best score IMO and GameInformer proves again that they are the best reviewers. The game is awesome but lack of multiplayer and some problems prevent it from reaching perfect score. Still, it's a great game and 9+ one.
GameSpot is looking more and more of an attention whore now.

Gameinformer really is absolutely non-biased... they scored Resistance a 9.5 along with Gears... Heavenly Sword a 9 and Warhawk a 8.25(because no single player) and now and 9.25 for Ratchet. Gameinformer is number one in fairness.... they will not rate a game according to biases against a console or because they're sad Sony is gonna win putting Blu Ray in the PS3 so they choose to bash it. PS3 is a great system with much more to come. I can't wait!
