Love' Em. The QTE's in God of War are awesome and there's no beating the ones in Naruto UNS 2

I love em. Rather then being completely passive during things like cutscenes, QTE do a great job of making the player feel part of the action where in the past he wouldn't have been.

Hate 'em. A QTE is a cut scene that you can fail.

HolyOrangeCows4731d ago (Edited 4731d ago )

I tolerate (and like!) them for games like GOW, because they allow me to do what the traditional control schemes never would.

But in most situations, the developers could have come up with something much better and creative.

I like the QTE in shenmue was a nice mix without over use.

fei-hung4731d ago

i remember the 1st qte game I ever played called road avenger on the mega cd. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever! All my friends who were watching couldn't believe that I was actually playing a game. They thought it was just a video running or a FMV sequence.

QTE's are great dpeending on how they are implemented in a game. Some games they are great, but only for the 1st play through. I found it hard playing through Heavy Rain a asecond time, but games like GoW and Shenmue I didn't mind playing a few times over.

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
