Dark Souls Standard & Limited Edition Box Arts Revealed

Namco Bandai Games has already discussed details of the forthcoming Limited Edition version of the highly-anticipated Dark Souls, spiritual successor to 2009’s critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls, but had only revealed a placeholder box art design previously. That has now changed, as the publisher has revealed the European box art design for both the standard and limited edition packages.

What will the North American box art look like? I like the Japanese version the best.

I am concerned. Will this game be as good as Demon's Souls? I bought DS day one and love it. But I am afraid that they "lowered" the standards in order to make it multi-platform and reach more audience (like make it easier, shorter, more casual, or something like that).

If that's not the case, I am good, but I actually will have to wait to see some reviews and gameplay videos to decide. Has there been any?

nanometric4753d ago

On the contrary, dev's said that it's going to be even harder than DS. And since it is supposedly open world, it should be longer too.

Imho, I think that it will be better than DS, since they were just testing the water with the first game.

Crystallis4753d ago

I totally agree. It should be a bigger, harder, overall better game then DS.

anubis564753d ago

Its going to be much better than DS in every way enemies, characters, open world, story"although not the main focus of the game" atmosphere and environments!

You sir...just keep trolling

Is it me, or does the Xbox green not fit with the feel of the boxart?

Not trying to start anything, it's just that the PS3 version fits the color scheme more I think. Meh, not really a big deal though.

NegativeCreepWA4753d ago (Edited 4753d ago )

I thought the same thing.

Was about to post the same comment, heh.

nanometric4752d ago

Haha, I too wanted to post a comment about that, but retrained myself, so wouldn't cause a fanboy uproar.

DragonKnight4752d ago

Yeah, the trolls would definitely take a simple statement about how the colors don't match as a dig against the 360 version of the game.

I mean come on, any sane person has to see that it's a weird color to mix with the box art.

Still don't know what version I'll get though. I want to get the PS3 version but, if more of my friends get it for the 360 I might go the other way. When playing co-op on the first one, I actually used my 360 for voice chat.

The prevalence of parrying: Why is it so popular?

Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way.  Why?

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

Dudeson62d ago (Edited 62d ago )

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
