In what way exactly? Yeah it scores a bit higher then I thought it would indeed. I played it in Leipzig and at that point in time it looked what they state here:

A PS2 game with some extra paint. It's scoring high because what is good in the game, is done the right way. And thats good for PS3 owners. It seems 2007 gives them 2 x AAA or should we say on or over 90% average scoring games that are exclusive on the PS3 will release. Ratchet&Clank and Uncharted.

That's why it's an IP Franchise. People like the way it works. Of couse it's not going to be much different. What makes it different? Oh ya! The amount of detail, polish, and content. Exactly what changed in Halo 2 to 3. We like them both because it gives us what we know is fun.

For those who want to be innocent about this Halo was criticized for the same thing and they got the great score and dont give me a load of bull like it was a great game anyway so is this. He lives in his own little fantasy land, he even said to me yesterday that the 360's failure rate is actually 10-15% (according to him and some of his XBL friends), not 30%, because that number was due to PS3 fandroids rigging an online survey. This game is incredibly beautiful, with gaming depth and variety.

Posted before, things I love...

The vast, dynamic skys... they are just teaming with action... clouds, ships, stars etc...
The particle effects... smoke, fire, weapons discharge etc...
The warping caused by the weapons discharge.
The visible hair on Ratchet's ears.
The shader glows.
The huge levels, with extra areas that you can explore if you desire.
The lush color palette.
The proper mix of specular and diffuse shaders.
The character animations of both Ratchet and the enemies.
The ridiculously creative art direction.
The incredible diversity, and tightness of game play.

It deserves better than 9's, compared to what other games have scored.

But remember...

1) Expect every PS3 game to be docked % points if it doesn't have multiplayer.

2) Expect every PS3 game that isn't the second coming of Christ, to be docked % points.

So you know its good...

A ps3 game gets a 9. But the reviewer can't help but bash the ps3 before he actually starts talking about the game. Sometimes it truly amazes me how bias the gaming media is against the ps3. Still complaining about price while taking a shot at Heavenly Sword and Warhawk. Surprise, surprise... Just review the damn game and admit there is nothing like it on any next gen console to date.

then an Elite but includes Motorstorm. So are comments like this "It's not a roaring justification of the high cost of owning a PS3." still valid? I mean did we hear comments like this when the 360 first launched? Did every review for a 360 game start out with something like well its not worth $X00 blah blah... If there was, please point me to some reviews. Because I certainly don't remember reading 360 reviews that start out by bashing its price then moves on to comment about its lack of exclusives and how said exclusives "were greeted with what seemed like a collective shrug from critics."

The 360 had no competition although I'm pretty sure that If MS priced it at $500-$600 like Sony did they would have had problems with acceptance as well. We'll see if sales just spike for the 40 gig or if they see a general increase. Unfortunately for Sony (and everyone), the economy seems to be moving into a recession. Once those $85 a barrel oil prices start to impact heating oil costs and gas prices people are going to be much more skeptical about spending money on a game console, no matter who makes it.

Edit: Good point popup...I guess I'm the typical "ugly American". How's it selling over there? Can you find them in stores?

there is quite a few differnt game types in ratchet. there is flying, driving, skydiving and juggling (list probably not exhaustive). it terms of gameplay variety i don't think it has anything less than drake. from your comments i don't think you know much about ratchet.

i cant contain my excitement at all. i'm Picking this up immediately after work today. and i'll go get EYE of judgement on the 1st of Novemeber. and Uncharted, COD4, HAZE, and Assassin's creed all in Novemeber, and close of they year, with UT3, and a sh1t load of PSN games that hit between now and the 31st of DECEMBER... great way to close of my year. and then spend some time with all my new Wii games dropping in that time frame

This game is the same game with a an upgrade in graphics, has no multiplayer and it doesn't bring anything new to the table and its funny and how PS fans were saying how Halo 3 was Halo 2 with better graphics, bla, bla, bla... and now they are saying how awesome this game is. Anyway the R&C games are always fun, this one shouldn't be any different. Its good that its getting good reviews.

And the point - singular - that he docked off the score probably had nothing to do with how he spent an entire paragraph complaining about the space combat, or with his frequent mentions of how the game really doesn't bring anything new to the table. So after searching everywhere the reviewers could not get it down lower than 9.0... Live must be hard for them. Such a good game and no flaws to jump on than whine that is very much like the previous titles. And the previous R&C was great. So great that my kids still play it on the PS3.

One can nearly pity the poor reviewers who must be heartbroken that they could not find something to pound on. Well - lets hear from some who own both consoles and pit R&C:TOD against some other 10/10 titles and see what they think.

Ratchet and Clank Future + Folklore + Resistance + Heavenly Sword + Warhawk + Unreal Tournament 3 + Uncharted: Drake's Fortune = me being a happy Playstation 3 owner.

not to mention the really cool multi-platform titles hitting the system (it amazes me how the perception is that, if the game is coming out on the 360, you'll choose the 360 version over the PS3 version. um, what if you don't *HAVE a 360? there *ARE those of us that only own one next gen console for now, so multi-platform games don't mean sh*t to me).

i don't understand this whole, "XXX console just *HAS to have a system seller. i didn't stop buying PS2 games when GTA 3 came out. nor did i buy my PS2 *JUST for GTA 3. i bought it for a wide *RANGE of titles, even though, at the time, there wasn't much on the PS2 worth crowing about.

i bought a PS3 for the games i mentioned above that are hitting this year, and many more that are coming next year and beyond (like MGS4, Little Big Planet, and Infamous). i also bought it for it's Blu Ray and Wi Fi functionality, and compatibility with my PSP, a bunch of USB devices, and even it's backwards comp (at least until more games hit. and they have, and are coming; i haven't popped a PS2 disc into my PS3 for about a month or two now).

i've only played the first Ratchet and Clank title, and a little bit of Deadlocked. i most certainly plan on picking up Ratchet and Clank Future, especially after getting my hands on the demo. by the end of this year, i'll have, at the least, 15 or more PS3 games. those *FIFTEEN games are the reason why i own the shiny black box. not just one. i don't need one title to "justify" my purchase. i've been a happy customer since February this year, and looking ahead, i'm going to be even happier.
