Rage Quitting Online Games: What’s The Point?

How often has this happened to you? You sit down to play an online video game after a hard day of school or work and you party up with friends and while in the midst of playing you turn around and all of a sudden your alone in the room and your teammates have all abandoned you.

Depends. If im playing with 20 year olds that somehow forgot to go to High School English and talk like 9 year old punks while they use hacks in Call of Duty...I leave. Why? Cus losing in that nature isn't fun. End of story.

If im just losing (even if my team ALL left) I still stick it out and just leave during the lobby screen.

Yup. Heck, I often just wait around if it's a game that has good team balancing features (like Bad Company 2). Usually after one or two rounds the teams get a little more even.

But if there's some chromosome-deficient mutant child (of which are usually in their 20s, and from the UK somehow) griefing everyone, I get bored of that real quick. Thinks he's "LOLOL troll u u spastix LOLOL" until someone makes a fool of him, then it's like playing Russian Roulette with racial slurs and monotonously repeating the same nonsensical insults over and over, progressively sounding like he's going to break his own machine in frustration. And that guy's EVERYWHERE on XBL.

I do rage quit, but only under three specific circumstances.

One: My enemies are using exploits or overpowered weapons/techniques to win.

Two: The game is lagging.

Three: My teammates suck a lot.

This is why most, hell, this is why ALL of my rage quitting happens when I play Call of Duty. That and a bit of MAG, mainly because of reason number three.

agreed, i if you buy a game you have every right to quit if you don't like the circumstances you're in, i'm not saying if your doing bad you should quit but some games have tendencies to NOT WORK PROPERLY *ahem* Black ops*

I personally don't like rage quitting or do it. On L4D, however, I keep movin and rarely stop, unless I hear a special infected. Usually I'm alone unless there is another who likes to rush.

This causes quite a few people to rage quit because they got owned by a smoker or hunter for not keeping up.

keep up, noobs! LOL!

I quit a game whenever I'm not having fun and I'm just getting angry from getting killed over and over again or if the game is laggy, etc. Why continue a gaming session if you aren't having fun and are only getting angrier and angrier? Games are meant to be fun, they aren't something you HAVE to do.

I'm not obligated to stick around for my team, I bought the game so "I" could have fun, I didn't buy it so I could stick around and make sure others are having fun.

If you bought the game so " "I" could have fun" then why are you playing the "MULTI"player?

You gave two excuses. I agree if you lag or the other team is OBVIOUSLY hacking, you are fine to quit, because that isn't rage quiting.

If your saying your team is so horrible that your the only player with a K/D above the legal blood/alcohol level,(that's .08 for you underage players), then why are you rage quiting? Just kick as much ass as you can and leave when the maps done. Easy. OR play with your buds.

Sorry, I just saw contradicting statements in there.

Thanks, T2

Because I like killing/defeating other people online. Whenever I'm getting killed over and over again every where I turn (with a little big of lag usually added on to that), then I cease to have fun and get angry and start cursing, so I think to myself, this is not worth getting upset over and simply quit.

You don't HAVE to work with team mates to have a good time in multiplayer. I go into multiplayer just wanting to kill people, but when I lose the ability to do so efficiently or pretty much at all, then it pisses me off and I quit because I am not having fun anymore, which is the reason I bought the game in the first place: to have fun.

I'm not going to stick around trying to "kick as much ass as I can and leave the maps when I'm done", I'm not playing the game for other people, I'm playing it for me, and I'd rather not get angry so I quit while I'm ahead, because getting pissed off about a video game simply isn't worth it.
