Five Reasons Why Assassin's Creed is This Generation's GTA

Gamer's Guide to Life.com, Friday 13th May 2011: When examined next to one another, there are many similarities to be found between the Assassin's Creed series and early installments of GTA. Andrew Testerman brings the shared traits of both franchises under his magnifying glass and into the public eye in his latest article for GGTL.

GGTL: "Assassin's Creed has consistently been one of this generation's best-selling series - so much so that Ubisoft decided to give it a yearly release cycle. Canny gamers will remember that this is not the first time the gaming public has gone head-over-heels for an open world franchise, and a brief look at last generation reveals several similarities between the three Grand Theft Auto games released for the PlayStation 2 and the Assassin's Creed franchise."

lol wut? Ass creed probably the most deceiving game to come out this gen. The graphics looks like ps2 covered in fish oil ( not even this gens standard), a very shallow gameplay/story and to top it all... what kind of platformer doesn't even have a jumping button, I mean even GTA has one.

Antholex4732d ago

Erm, you can jump in Assassin's Creed. How else do you think Ezio get's between rooftops?

TheKindRoost4732d ago (Edited 4732d ago )

you don't jump like in regular platformers, you have get a momentum(run) and hold a button to jump, you can't jump at anytime you want like in standard platformers.

Antholex4732d ago

And why is that such a problem? The ability to clamber almost any building surely negates the need for a conventional jump button?

soundslike4732d ago

You're triggering scripted guesses at whats appropriate to get past the obstacle with one button.

Thats not "gameplay" for me and lots of others.

arjman4732d ago (Edited 4732d ago )

Yeah but how complicated would it be to have to press a jump button, a climb button and a run button all at the same time while trying to navigate rooftops?

Very

@arjam

I hope you're trolling...

jetlian4731d ago

jump from a standard position! and the 1 button thing applies to uncharted all you do is aim him and press a single button.

i like assassin's creed; the only thing i dislike is that their milking the franchise just like COD...Brotherhood was nothing really new except multiplayer....hopefully the new 1 is a lot better

NayThin4732d ago

You are mostly right.

The day Brotherhood was announced to come out one year after AC:II was the day I stopped caring about Assassins Creed.
Now I doubly don't care, and many others are tired, too.

I promise this game doesn't hit projected sales marks.

Franchise fatigue 101.

ilikestuff4732d ago

i played the game for an hour and didnt like. maybe i should give it another go?

YodaCracker4732d ago

You can jump anytime you want in Assassin's Creed by holding the right trigger and pressing the A(360)/X(PS3) button.

my counter article:

"5 reasons why GTA is this gen's GTA"

Danielmccue4732d ago

@Yellow13

Lies, you can jump anytime you want. you just stand still and press RT and A/ R2 and X.

and you can move the stick as you do it to jump in any direction you want, regardless of what is around you.

Sirhc924732d ago

i hate trolls like you who attempt to attack God-like games like Assassin's Creed, and have NOTHING to back up your useless text. AC is probably THE MOST immersive story game ever. its based off of non-fiction and the concept behind the conspiracies of religion are mind warping....you fucking retard.

and SECOND...you had to have said the DUMBEST THING, have you ever even PLAYED AC? i dont think so. cuz you can JUMP AT ANY FUCKING TIME....you dont need to run, or gain momentum. just DOUBLE TAP the Sprint button while holding the High Profile button you dipshit.

this trolling post actually made me bust out laughing at how many brain cells you are lacking. but whatever...i see u only have 3 bubbles which means you have indefinitely shown off your retardedness elsewhere. well, once again...Bubble Down vote dickweed.

TheKindRoost4732d ago (Edited 4732d ago )

this post is as shallow as the game itself. Yea you climb through scrpited paths, not climb where ever you want from any angle like in infamous.

MintBerryCrunch4732d ago

problem...Grand Theft AUTO...thus AC can never be like GTA...more like Grand Theft HORSE...but then again...i dont think the game lets you steal horses

did a lot of research on this one guys...trust me

YodaCracker4732d ago

You actually can steal horses in Brotherhood at least.

MintBerryCrunch4732d ago

it was meant to be a joke

people on this site cant take anything without a grain of salt

Lindsey4732d ago

I bought ACII at the start of the PSN outage and just right now I put it down. I tried the first and second game and have come to the conclusion that the games just aren't my thing.

YodaCracker4732d ago

You played ACII pretty long to have not liked it.

RedDead4732d ago

I played first and second from start to end, they're to repetitive right now, AC2 wasn't as bad as one but still pretty repetitive. Imo

Lindsey4732d ago

I am playing multiple games at the moment. I would say I'm about 10 hours into ACII and just not feeling it.

acemonkey4732d ago

i kinda disagree with AC is the next or same as GTA lol

Thanks for the warning. I sure would have hated to have been surprised by installing a ubisoft game on accident.

Profchaos261d ago

Because you can't play all the games on every subscription already

KillBill260d ago

Valhalla is not on GamePass.

anast260d ago (Edited 260d ago )

I like Valhalla. The others haven't aged well.

The Pursuer from Dark Spuls 2 was great, I think the author just sucks at games.
