The only thing which requires serious rethinking is Capcom's single player DRM. Which they likely aren't thinking about.

that got me thinking, what will happen to all these games when the PS4 comes out and Sony shuts-down the online service of the PS3? Are we we gonna lose all those games we paid for?

InLaLaLand4766d ago (Edited 4766d ago )

Yeah I was thinking that a while ago, do we keep our PSN ID's, trophies and stuff we purchased when the PS4 hits?

well look at live going from the original xbox to the 360, both services overlapped for sometime and individual games would access either one depending which system the game originated on. I purchased star wars BF2 dlc from the original xbox live on my 360. They eventually shut it down 4/15/10

so that was a good 5 years into the 360's life that the original xbox live existed.

so maybe something along those lines.

dont know what the disagree is for, I'm not saying this is how psn will evolve once the ps4 drops, I am just showing how live evolved from the original xbox to the 360 as a possibility.

i hate this place sometimes.

I'm pretty sure folks were able to keep their gamertags, and could continue to play any games that were on the backwards compatibility list.

I'm pretty sure Sony has something worked out for how to transfer all of our information from the PS3 to the PS4. We'll get to keep all the dlc, game saves, etc. and I'm sure that it will be Backward Compatible with PS3 games. As far as PS3 games' online functionality on the PS4, that will be interesting. I'm sure some games will retain online playability, the more popular ones anyway.

Of course, this is just speculation on my part, but I hope I'm right.

@ Peaceful_Jelly.. You haven't lost them yet!? So I doubt you will. I may be wrong but I doubt it.....

Not talking about multi but singleplayer. You can still play XBox1 titles on the 360 just as you'll likely be able to play PS3 and most PSN games on the PS4. Jelly's question is that once Sony fully flips the online switch will DRM protected titles remain playable.

As to the disagree may as well ask why I got one. Once you get into the 2-3 bubble range, even before then, you'll get disagrees just for the sake of disagrees.

WTF, Brink is broken??? Oh ffs, not another game I've bought that won't work for months on end.

I give up.

Wobbuffet4766d ago

I'm still waiting for the 'Rethinking online journalism' article :/

And yeah i have heard brink is quite average from certain personally trusted sites.

Looks like the disagree fairy stopped through. This PSN outage is killing the gaming. I barely watch movies on it right now. Please get it back up soon, Sony.

jrisner4766d ago

I still play games on my PS3. It hasn't hampered me at all. I don't do a ton of online gaming because I can't stand to hear whiny 12 year olds bitch because they got killed. I mostly play GT5 online and F1 2010. I'm not losing any sleep over it. It will be up when it's up.

PSN offline is another reason why LAN support should be kept and supported by people. The codemasters games (dirt, grid) do this real well, while now with GT5 you're out of luck. Also why i have 4 copies of dirt 2 and grid for this purpose (luckily i got them pretty cheap)
