On the lively and intriguing battlefields of Brink, technical deficiencies and design issues can be as deadly as enemy soldiers.

ouch.

The game can't catch a break.

Well, seems like it's the 360 version which is being reviewed.

I guess we'll have to wait for PSN to come back online in order to see if things are different there.

I haven't had much (if any) lag issues on PC, probably due to the dedicated servers. However, the game does seem to hate ATI cards. =/

So are all the fanboys of this game still defending it beyound reason? We have 6/10 ign, 6/10 gamespot, 2/5 G4TV, 2/5 GiantBomb, and GameInformer won't even review it yet. Time to face it, the proof is in the pudding. This is one of the biggest (if not biggest) disappointments so far this year and I was excited for it a few months back. What is sad is all the crap spewed in the comments about the ign review, when it looks like it was spot on.

Call me a fanboy if you will, but I'm enjoying Brink immensely at the moment.

I've never really looked to reviews as the deciding factor in my purchasing of a game. I paid the full $60 price tag even after all of the doom and gloom reviews, and I'm quite glad that I did.

Are all of these bad scores due to the texture popping in-game? Because I haven't really noticed any other flaws. Most people I see playing this game are usually playing it like CoD, and that's a big no-no. You need to take full advantage of the SMART system to enjoy Brink.

I won't call you a fanboy, that's ridiculous. What I will call you is a person of bad taste. Just because you like something doesn't make it any good. I'm sure you can find people that "think" Battlefield: Earth is a good movie. Hell, my mom really enjoys the Resident Evil movies and some of that Asylum BS.

@nolifeking

I am a person of bad taste due to the fact that I enjoy a game which received low scores from various gaming sites?

I see. I guess Black Ops DID deserve all of those 8-9 scores? Anyone that doesn't like Black Ops MUST have bad taste! It all makes sense now!

Thanks for enlightening me, bro!

It seems that there is a lot of gamers that like this who, and gaming media not so much. We have to remember reviewers need to take everything in count, when they review a game, while we gamers can sometime overlook even big problems if we like it.

"I've never really looked to reviews as the deciding factor in my purchasing of a game. I paid the full $60 price tag even after all of the doom and gloom reviews, and I'm quite glad that I did. "

This^. Lost Odyssey, King Arthur the strategic roleplaying game, etc.. were "7"-games, but personally I loved both, amazing games, just to name these two.

"I'm sure you can find people that "think" Battlefield: Earth is a good movie. Hell, my mom really enjoys the Resident Evil movies and some of that Asylum BS. "

True, for example some people will go, and watch, and love every Sex and the City movies that will come out, and in my opinion they are total bullshit in every aspect you can look at them. But do they have a bad taste, or do I have bad taste?

Bad taste or not tought, people prefer different things, it's hard to argue on matter of taste, there is as many opinions as there is people, and this is the main point when we are talking about reviews, they are single persons opinions. Many bad reviews mean that many people don't like it, but that doesn't mean some can't. I find myself often to like things out of the "mainstream" too, so I try a lot of games too, which are mainly looked as "average" games. And I'm happy I have done that.

In the case of Brink tought, I will be passing. I really don't have the time for it.. Tought I like the consept and style.

definitely a fun game, its just buggy.

So much hype...so so so much hype. When will they learn? Hype burns people.

Ign & joystiq are epic fails in the exercise of reviews.

The game did a few things wrong....mostly in the pre-pump up of the devs vid docs.
AI isn't horrible...but it's far from good. Single plyr isn't really cinematic enough...but they planned it that way. Not a good design choice.

But gameplay, team based objective gameplay that doesn't keep a record of your k/d ratios ....this hurts cod elitists and that's a massive market!

It's a solid 7/10...more if mp is functional. I have the ps3 ver.

DevilishSix4753d ago (Edited 4753d ago )

I think the real epic fail here is the game itself, not the reviewers. That's ok though, you have a right to defend the game if you wish, but this so much reminds of Haze a few years back. Great potential, but poor execution ruined it.
