Can Someone Bring Akai Katana To Europe? - Midlife Gamer

Xero says: "If there’s one thing to really dislike about the Xbox 360, it’s that game manufacturers have the ability to region lock their games. Without getting into the economic justifications as to why this might be a good thing for the console, it means that some titles just won’t be experienced by a majority of a potential Western audience."

I have no idea why Jap devs even bother making 360 exclusive games that don't even leave Japan. They must make no money. They would probably get more by still making games for PS2.

ThePsychoGamer4765d ago

I believe Microsoft makes deals with these companies where Microsoft will make sure the devs will make a profit in-turn for them taking the risk. can't be sure though. Could be a case where the devs have enough fans with 360 that the game is profitable enough for the them.

Infernostew4765d ago

Nope. Games like these are cheap and easy PC ports so they throw them on 360 to make a few extra $$.

@Infernostew

So true, the 360 has the same amount, if not more Visual Novels than the PS3 also, and games like this.

@Infernostew
sounds like a sony sad fanboy, and mind puting "sad" after sony because i like all consoles almost equally.

With every market, there exists the niche titles and their fanbase. In Japan these companies (like Idea factory or 5pb) usually make 360 exclusives, however I'm unsure if they make a HUGE profit, but I know that they can make profit off of it and willing to publish on the 360 since their loyal fans buy the game. I believe they don't need like a million sale of one game to consider it successful. I'm sorry for my low level of knowledge, but this is all I know and I hope I wrote everything so you can understand :)
EDIT: I didn't know until I read the article, but this is a Cave game... they are known for their bullet-hell shoot'em ups and almost always publishes their games on the 360 (I believe their game Guwange is on the XBLA in the USA). Cave has also gotten Deathsmiles published by Aksys games here in the US. And actually they themselves are going to publish Deathsmiles 2X in the US.

Akai Katana Shin (and also DeathSmiles and Ketsui) is one of few games I really envy Xbox owners.

Examiner - Akai Katana game review

As a port of an arcade game, Akai Katana may be short but it is still incredibly fun and provides a seemingly "impossible to beat" kind of challenge that is lacking from a lot of video games today.
