Rockstar Made L.A. Noire So Big, They Could Barely Fit It On One Disc (or Three)

You can't judge a video game by the number of discs it ships on&emdash;not unless you're prepared to declare the four-disc Lost Odyssey as the best Xbox 360 game of all time. You can, however, judge the intent of the developer to give you a whole lot for your dollar.

Kran4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

Might have to get the PS3 version then.

3 discs is just ewww.

I aint dissing the 360. I just think that having 3 discs isnt a good thing. You dont exactly swap discs when watching a film now do you (well... some movies did it...)

units4747d ago

people really worried about disc swapping? seems like a silly thing to worry about

fossilfern4747d ago

Its something you did on the PS1! we have moved on since then!

xPhearR3dx4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

Why would they need to delete content to fit it on 3 disc? They said from the start the knew it was going to be a massive game and take up 3 Xbox discs. There would be no need to cut content, if your already sitting on 3 discs, adding a 4th one isn't going to hurt.

EDIT: Discs cost money? Were talking DVDs here, they're so cheap the hobo on the corner can afford them.

Where are you getting a console drags another because of it's inferiority? Have you not seen L.A Noire? All they have shown is PS3 footage and the game looks beautiful, not to mention the facial animations are mind blowing. The PS3 version is the last thing you need to worry about when it comes to L.A Noire. Rockstar knows how to handle their games.

kharma454747d ago

Hopefully R* will let you install all the discs to the HDD to give those buying it on 360 as seamless an experience as those who buy it on PS3 would get.

Winter47th4747d ago

Uh, yeah it's going to hurt. Discs cost money, more discs = less money.

kharma454747d ago

DVD's are dirt cheap now though, the cost is probably equal to (or even less) than one Blu-ray.

Winter47th4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

DL-DVDs are not dirt cheap, 1 DL-DVD costs 3.5$.

Not to mention they need to pay Microsoft $$ for every single extra disc like MisterAV mentioned.

MisterAV4747d ago

it's a big city, don't you mind to change disc when you change district?

@kharma45: microsoft add extra royalties when you need multiple discs so even less money...

BattleAxe4747d ago

If you've got the choice, get it on one disc. If you don't, then that kinda sucks. I'll probably wait for this game to get released on PC sometime in the future.

artynerd4747d ago Show
DigitalRaptor4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

Disc changing isn't such a problem, but for a game like this, where you're exploring a HUGE map.. hmmm I dunno. I'm jut glad I'm getting the version that comes on a single disc, and with extra content. It's probably the visually superior version too.

I mean according to 360 owners, they get the superior versions of multiplatform games 95% of the time, so I guess that would be a welcome change. Not that I would notice those sorts of things anyway, I mean who does?

@ artynerd

You know full well that with a game like this, disc swapping will become a pain. Maybe not on games like Mass Effect where changing the disc is less regular. You will most likely find yourself changing discs regularly on L.A. Noire.

And MGS4 and Heavy Rain don't take those lengths of time to install. Regardless of that fact, once they're done, they're done (for the most part). And you don't even need to update all PS3 titles, unless you're going online. Differences in load times for most games are negligible. Stop exaggerrating everything.

And I presume it's the PS3 system updates you're talking about? I agree, they're slow at downloading for some weird reason. You can download them MUCH quicker from your PC, and put them on a USB drive and copy them over to your PS3 manually. Take literally 60-70% less time by that method. That's what I do. I've got the link to the 'PS3UPDAT.PUP' bookmarked, so it saves time.

Christopher4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

***EDIT: Discs cost money? Were talking DVDs here, they're so cheap the hobo on the corner can afford them. ***

Hey, xPhearR3dx, just wanted to address the part above.

You're not so much paying for the cost of the item so much as the security software and licensing rights to play the game on the 360. I'm not 100% sure how much more of a cost it is, but licensing fees on the 360 are noted to be higher than the PS3 and having more discs has been commented upon by previous developers (including the developers of Rage) as not being cost effective.

R* in the past claimed in a quarterly report to have made a larger profit on their PS3 sales of GTA4 even though they sold more on the 360 due to licensing fees.

Edit: It should be noted that the PS3 licensing fees are likely much lower due to the fact that Sony also gets money for BD sales in general.

b_one4747d ago

and PS3 will have some extra content , some exclusive story...

kharma454747d ago

$3.50 for a DL DVD?!

I can get them here for around 39p a go at retail, I'd imagine wholesale prices will be even lower again!

RIPSKATEDESTROY4747d ago

@DigitalRaptor ''You will most likely find yourself changing discs regularly on L.A. Noire.'' if you read the article before commenting you would know that "Since the game is built around the concept of progressing through individual cases from desk to desk, players on Xbox will find disc-swapping is hassle-free. In fact, players will only need to swap discs twice at natural breaks between cases without interrupting the flow of the game."

Commander_TK4747d ago

Should've still been exclusive. Imagine how much bigger it would have been.

-Alpha4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

@Commander

Exclusive to PC you mean, right? ;)

Disc changing is not a big deal. They already stated that it's at "natural" points in the game.

It's a minor annoyance, the DVD may not store as much but at this point its read faster, hence why mandatory installs aren't mandatory on an Xbox (correct me if I'm wrong)

As for DVD's withholding content, if it's free and already on the Blu Ray then it seems the content truly was cut because of DVD limits.

If they charge on PSN, then it seems more likely that developers are lying about extra content to charge in the form of DLC

TOO PAWNED4747d ago

PS3 version also has exclusive content.

Pixelated_Army4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

this is one of the main reasons why I don't want to buy a 360 right now.

3 discs...3!!! -_-

Lifendz4747d ago

Disc swapping isn't like going to the dentist, but it is an irritant. Given a choice between enjoying a seamless and immersive experience or having to break the tension by swapping discs, I'll chose the former every time.

Rockstar already voiced their gripes about lack of space on dvds. I wonder if this will impact exclusivity of the next GTA...hmmmm

wsoutlaw874747d ago

Microsoft issues a fee for any amount of discs over 2 too discourage devs from doing it.

Dark_king4747d ago

@Alpha-Male22 actually the 360 dvd drive pretty much almost ties the PS3 BD drive.BD drives read at a constant Speed anywhere on the disc as well as other layers. While dvd drives read data fastest on the outer rim of the first layer. If you actually look up the speed data you will see they come out about even now.

kancerkid4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

You swap discs twice, which means over the course of the entire game, you put three discs into your system.

This is a BIG deal.

Edit @ people who hope they can install two discs:
It takes longer to install discs than it does to swap them.

madara0sama4747d ago

@kharma45 They won't let you install the disc unto the HD. If they did that people would just rent/borrow the game and install it.

AngryTypingGuy4747d ago

I couldn't care less about the disc swapping. For me, it's the fact that the PS3 version has exclusive content that I will be getting that version, that and the fact that I believe it was originally developed on the PS3.

I'm not biased...I know I'll probably have to swap discs for Mass Effect 3 next year, but I have to carry over my game saves, which are on the 360!

DigitalRaptor4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

Even with that considered, it still makes no difference. It might be a highly story-driven game, but it's still an open world experience. Team Bondi have created a highly detailed 1940's Los Angeles that is worth exploring.

I'm sure lots of people will want to drive around seamlessly and explore the whole map between cases/missions, like is possible in GTA, Red Dead etc. If you want to go on ultimate free roam mode, you will have to deal with disc swapping on many occasions.

I guess it's a wait-and-see kind of approach for the 360 version, since we haven't even seen any gameplay footage for that, but it's clear that if you have both consoles, the PS3 version 'should' be the one to get since it seems to be superior in ways that matter enough.

mastiffchild4747d ago

Well I think the disc swapping issue is relevant but not for the reason most often stated. I've had several game discs scratched(360 games)to the point they became useless and outside of the console itself I've had kids and dogues break discs (BR and DVD)so, for me, more discs just means more risk of not being able to finish or(even if I want and am able to install the discs straight to HDD as I'm hoping LANoire is capable of doing and if not, why not? As I'll not keep games installed forever)replay/sell it at a later date.

Sure, it's a bit crappy to HAVE to change discs in this day and age but it's not a BIG dewal and to me the pure increased percentage risk of breaking or scratching a disc(which even my newest, though not slim, 360 Elite has done from time to time)is the realm issue, isn't it? Well, naturally my kids and dogues are mental so i notice risks like this more than most but you see my point. If you can install and be VERY careful with your games then changing it once or twice is no issue worth talking about beyond being less desirable than not having to do it but, as i've said, I've lost a good few discs and especially easily on DL DVD 360 games this gen.

So still not a huge issue with an install but an issue none the less. Just a small one unless your home has my menagerie living in it.

The discs become a proper problem when a developer comes out and states that the cost of royalties means they are cutting back the size of a game/it's world as a result on ALL platforms even those not needing extra discs or those which could have DD or not have ludicrous royalties even WITH extra discs as it has with Rage being cut down(wasn't it by a third or something?). Even then it's RARE story and an unclear one when devs and publishers like to blame anyone for them HAVING to charge us all fdor DLC. "We couldn't fit it on the disc!" -like Capcom but iot still meant DLC down the line on ALL platforms. As a current gen gamner you don't know who to trust!Even with iD and Carmack: he's been so unbearably NICE about PS3, 360 AND PC as platforms that I dunno whether even he's on the level over everything. IS everything just so lovely and equal in his world that if a disc issue crops up here another daft issue pops up there to even it all out and make every platform amazingly the same in terms of pros and cons?

IDK, but the world of multiple discs isn't just a case of whether you can be arsed changing them or opting for just the one instead-it's a murky hinterland of platform holder and devs wrangling for our cash without us ever quite knowing the truth of the matter. Sony are VERY invested in BR as they own a slice of the tech, MS are the ones making 360 game devs pay extra over two discs on 360 yet have different rules on PC where, I'm guessing, Steam makes a big difference in keeping disc based game prices reasonable. Who's being straight with us and who's making the sneakiest buck all round we will never know.

NoOoB1014746d ago

@artynerd.. ur wrong about the 360 reading data faster than the ps3. Yes the 360 has a 12x drive and ps3 only 2x, BUT the 2x for blu ray is faster than 12x for dvd at reading data.

http://www.psu.com/forums/t...

saladthieves4746d ago

If you own both consoles, then simply go for the PS3 version. I have a buddy who bought final fantasy 13 for Xbox and now disc 3 is broken. He can't progress through the game.

HolyOrangeCows4746d ago

Disc swapping on an open world game....lol. What did I freaking tell you? It was only a matter of time before this wall was hit.

NukaCola4746d ago

You guys are ragging on Winter,

but the truth is more discs cost more. The Disck itself is cheap but there are fees for multiple discs. Final Fantasy XIII was supposed to be on 4 discs but do to MS's high fees for the 4th DVD, they had to cut out content and reduce the size to fit on 3 discs. 2 DVDs are the only way long games work on Xbox, where the fees for multiple storage isn't a big burden.

As for me, I am getting this on PS3, like all my multiplats. However I have only seen PS3 footage since this was an exclusive once, and am confident that the PS3 version will be equal or greater to the 360 version in quality, and have extra content, the single bluray disc and such. Oh and hopefully the PS3 version, having the entire game on one disc, won't have side missions locking or unlocking with the pace of the 360's disc swapping. I am sorry that it needs 3 DVDs, but I don't think it's fair to disrupt the game to play out like your still swapping when you don't have to with bluray.

But all in all, I am glad to see that this is a huge game. I love games that are worth their weight in gold. And this type of game, being on 3 DVDs nontheless, tells me that there won't be any hinderance to the quality of the 360 version, and it should be just as awesome, since 3 DVDs most likely means there is no compression. I think this game has like 10 hours of cutscenes or something. MASSIVE!

Marquis_de_Sade4746d ago

I can't quite believe what I'm reading here, it takes what, all of of 20 seconds to get up and change a disc? Over the course of a 25 hour + game that doesn't strike me as much of an inconvenience, how do you lot cope when you want to play a different game?

I'm a PS3 only owner currently, but I would prefer a quick disc swap to sitting through the numerous 10-15 minute mandatory installs forced upon us by many developers.

Lightsaber4746d ago

got to love how fucking lazy ps3 fanboys I'm surprise they can put down a twinkie long enough to do anything much less get up and walk over to swap a disc

Rageanitus4746d ago

Its not a matter of worrying it its about convenience.

Think about all the live music cd's out there... it would be more convenient to play the whole concert on 1 disc.

NoBias4746d ago

The time 360 owners spend swapping discs for this game, won't come close to 1/8th the time PS3 owners spend installing this game.

gaffyh4746d ago

PS3 version it is then, I was considering getting it for 360, but a single player and intense game like this, it will probably be better to have it uninterrupted.

Kleptic4746d ago (Edited 4746d ago )

@alpha_male...

The PS3's BD drive has a fixed read speed, while the 360's is variable...at times the 360's read speed is higher, but at other times it is lower...it depends on the physical location of specific data on the disc...

but either way, that doesn't usually matter...the Ps3 has mandatory installs in situations where the developers are not using one of the spu's for back ground streaming...Notice some of the best looking and running titles on the PS3 require no install whatsoever...

but ceterus parabis, access and read times of a physical HDD are MUCH higher than any optical media format...its a cheap work around that developers have available because every PS3 has some sort of HDD...that is why mandatory installs are in so many PS3 games...its faster and cheaper to optimize that way...

The 360 on the other hand could ALSO benefit from mandatory installs, but developers do not have that option as not all 360's had a standard HDD...Its not that the 360's DVD drive is so much faster than the PS3's BD drive that it would never need a mandatory install...its just that 360 games have to be built from the ground up without that option, as its not always there...

An example of why how this applies to games similar to this was the delay of GTAIV...where Rockstar claimed the lack of an HDD on the 360 was just as much of a hurdle as the PS3's complex architecture...and seeing the pop-in the 360 version had, its clear a mandatory install would have helped just as much as it did the PS3 version...

ps3destroyer4746d ago

Only ps fantrolls are worried for this kind of stuff.

king dong4746d ago

mastiffchild4747d ago

Considering I've spent YEARS installing every game I've ever bought(practically) on PC I've never seen the "PS3 needs mandatory installs! LOL! ROFL!!!" outrage.

Like I said above my 360 has scratched it's own discs and my kids and creatures have wrecked every type of game disc going so even on console, and even on the ones which I haven't put big HDDs in I'd LOVE the option to install EVERY game and do so wherever I can on ANY system. As it'as more prevalent on the 360, therefore, I've probably spent more time waiting for installs on that console than on PS3. A one time install of ten minutes or something is time I can use to do something else while changing a disc ONLY breaks up a game and more discs, as i said, means more risk of breaking one.

Give me the option to install EVERY game I buy and I'd take it. On 360 mainly because DVD isn't as tough as BR disc and on PS3 mainly because the upgrade to performance can be , according to those brighter than myself, pretty big because of quicker read times(on 360 loads may be quicker but the upgrade isn't as great as on PS3 because the natural speed of reading a DVD is faster anyway). Installs are fine with me-been used to them and the advantages they can bring for years.

If a disc/cart/card came along which was infallible in all ways then sure, get rid of the ten mins to install(which has been a lot longer in the past as well!!)but while they improve the performance of disc based games AND it reduces the read times and risk of harm to them then why aren't more games allowing non mandatory installs on PS3(and why don't all on 360?)never mind those WITH mandatory ones?

Rageanitus4746d ago

It depends on the developer..... if its a story game disk swapping occurs on each milestone of the story..... I see it much more of an invconvenience for developers (duplicate assets) over a spread of many discs....

This only support more of the reason to do hard drive installs.... sorry but it is the future.

and I still found it annoying the way it still asked for the 2nd disk when I reached certain points, even though it was saved onto the HDD.

Mainly because I was in college enjoying playing Dead Space 2, and then halfway through, it asked for the 2nd disk....which unfortunately I had left at home the previous weekend (after I had installed both disks). I had to wait 3 weeks before I could continue on.....

After splashing out $60 for a new game it was a pretty big inconvenience

omi25p4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

jony_dols, Thats unfortunate about dead space, But i know people who have been unable to buy games for the ps3 because when they bought it at launch it came with a small harddrive and now they will have to spend more money on buying a new harddrive just to be able to play games that need an install, download dlc.

What i find funny is that grenada says its just as anouying to install games as it is to switch disks. Then everyone started listing games you dont have to install on ps3, But im willing to bet the list of games you have to install on the ps3 is much larger than games you have to switch disks on xbox.

but 3 disks is not a bad thing for xbox360 only owners.

on RS's part we should thank them instead of cutting content they actually made 3 disks even though they have to pay for extra disks plus pay MS for each disk.

this game started with sony's millions as a exclusive so its not surprising that this is a huge game

i think they will let you install the disks to pay seamless play

mastiffchild4747d ago

I prefer my PS3(controller as much as anything)but I'm totally with you kin hoping R* are allowing seamless gameplay with installing all the discs. Fair enough, if they need one of the game discs in for the game to run(I don't know why necessarily but for some info which makes switching from one discs cache and back again etc) but I DO find it a bit annoying when a game is installable on 360 or PC yet you then need a change of disc now and then to run the game as it's NOT using and getting the discs out at all(so they don't get wrecked/scratched etc) which is the issue for me.

As I've often said-I don't mind an install on either console and am used to them on PC anyway. It's interesting to see which games need a mandatory install on the PS3 these days when you compare them with some which don't and which seem to outperform their installed counterparts. Makes you wonder about how expensive it is to get a multi working the same on each platform and if the mandatory install is an easy/cheap way out on PS3.

As for the game itslef-I'm not entirely sold on the idea yet. Maybe it's because the period and genre isn't my cup of tea(didn't enjoy either Mafia game because of their similarly earlier 20th century settings for some reason) but also the thought of being a bit old school CSI, then reading chumps mugs(because of the amazing mo-cap used on faces making it possible to read reactions and guage lies from truths etc)and grilling them in interviews with th shooting and the driving etc taking a back seat it all sounds, idk, a bit slow.

Don't get me wrong. My favourite thing in the World is STILL to read so I'm not scared of testing the grey matter butr when I play a game I like it to flow even if it's not a balls to the wall racing or shooting frenzy and from what I've seen of the game I have concerns it could end up a bit too one paced and dull, for some gamers, as a result even if I admit to being very impressed in terms of tech, acting and the gameplay elements themselves seen so far. Will it hang together that well and will it feel exciting enough to keep us all playing is almost as interesting to me as the game itself right now and it will be a while after release before I'll make my decision cos i like to finish every decent game I start(used to be EVERY til last year but, thank God ?i stopped TAT madness)and this will be a BIG time investment for something you don't REALLY love.

Or maybe I'm alone in being worried about it appealing to a lot of gamers and everyone else is certain it's pure gold. I certainly know a lot of people who seem really hyped for it's release to be fair but I'm just not quite sold enough yet despite the clever stuff and apparent quality. Sometimes even amazing ingredients don't make amazing meals, you know? Not sure yet.

OR

2. Wait 2 hours of install time to install all this crap you need to install for the PS3 version?

See, for the people that dont have a PS3, this is what the PS3 people have to go through, BEFORE THEY PLAY A GAME THIS LARGE!

Now again for the stupid:
360= 90 seconds of down time
PS3= 2 hours of load time

I'll take the 360 version thank you.

The 360 dlc will work online, yes you'll be able to use the inter-net to make your game longer on the 360. You'll never know if PSN will work & if you have to pay for the dlc: are you going to trust PSN with your credit card or bank card?

RevXM4746d ago (Edited 4746d ago )

2 Hours?
Like Killzone 3? God of war 3? Killzone 2?
Many of the best ps3 games have no install.
And Killzone 3 for one LOADS QUITE FAST.

The longest install Ive experienced was about 35 Minutes and it wasnt even mandatory. (GT5)
The longest mandatory got to be MGS4, which takes about 8 minutes plus 2 when jumping beetween chapters. I survived it but its kind of lame.

You sir are hilarious.
What would you do?
1: get your lazy ass up to swap disc's.
or
2: Put it in, no install and just go?

Its not certain that the ps3 version will have a mandatory install or an install at all is it?

Again Id like to remind you Killzone 3 = no install + little loading.

And LA Noire was intended to be Ps3 exclusive so there is a fair chance that its not going to have a mandatory install.

You dont know when PSN will work? WTH?
Yes it is down at this very moment, Because SONY

I give them props for that and their security was pretty good, the con though was they told users to late that their cc info may have been stolen.

http://www.gamespot.com/new...

Philaroni4746d ago

It cost them more, good example is if it cost lets say 1$ per DVD and they make around 4 million copies of the game for the Xbox alone that means they need 12 million disks. Even if it cost them 25cents it is still a lot of $$. Also more disks means it will weigh more and cost more to ship.

I use Goozex quite a bit and to ship a PS3 game is about $1.90 and an Xbox game is about $2.30, (At USPS) if you don't know, that is part of the reason blu ray and PS3 game cases are smaller is to save $$ on shipping.

So yes it will cost more but I'd not be surprised of maybe MS helps them cover the costs in some ways. Its not a big deal to disk swap for me but it is an issue for Dev's as far as $$ is concerned.

@Alpha-Male22 Rockstar said they had to cut some content to fit the game on three discs. So they're releasing it as DLC in the future.

lil Titan4743d ago

And people are still in denial saying PS3 and 360 are on par with each other smh I'm not trying to down 360 but it's Microsoft that made the console that has limitations. They could have used blu-ray or if they used hd DVD it might be still around or even on the front page of my best buy paper but no people remain delusional

As long as it's as seamless as Mass Effect 2's disc swapping there shouldn't be a problem. 3 disc though....damn lol Feel like I'm about to buy a Final Fantasy game back in the PS1 days.

cochise3134747d ago

Well at least we know the ps3 version isn't getting gimped due to storage; That's a great thing. Some lazy devs try to keep the game storage down and sell the rest a dlc.

Istanbull4747d ago

I love Blu ray, disc swapping is something from the past. I'm glad Sony funded Blu ray technology

NYC_Gamer4747d ago

wow, 3 disc thats a lot of pause between gameplay.

xPhearR3dx4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

2 swaps in a estimated 20-30 hour game. That's not to bad. Every 10 hours (assuming 30 hours is the length) isn't bad at all. Inconvenience? Yes, but being a Rockstar game, you know the experience will be worth the few extra seconds it takes to swap a disc. That is for 360 users.

Convas4747d ago

I KNEW IT!

Blaze929 man, where you at?!?

This is the part where I tell you I told you I'd tell you so.

2 discs feels like an epic collector's edition. 3 discs ... erg, not sure how I'm feeling on that.

Convas4747d ago

Also, I think you guys are missing something here.

What Barrera is saying is that the disc swapping is for the cases, not for the open world.

Which leads me to believe that the world data was enough to fit on one disc.

As he said, you only have to switch twice, which also means that it's the cases themselves that take up the other two discs.

Christopher4747d ago

Yeah. The world graphics are on each disc, but different case graphics are only on certain discs.

Question is, then, did they have to go with sub-720p graphics to make everything fit onto each disc then (if they did, it's likely the same on both platforms)?

Convas4747d ago (Edited 4747d ago )

That's what I want to know. Since it's obvious that they didn't want to compress any or at least very little of the game data, does this mean that the differences between the two games will be negligible?

Or drastic like FFXVIII on 360?

So many questions, so little time in which to make an informed purchase decision ... because I'm going to purchase this game. It's something that MUST be in my collection, either in my PS3 shelf or my 360 shelf.

Otheros004746d ago

FFXVIII... When did FFXVIII come out?

BullCrap4747d ago

Yay for blu-ray. Wonder how big it could have been useing a full 50gig disk.

cochise3134747d ago

The 360 would have had 6 disc then, or had a lot of compression.

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

Skuletor27d ago

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

Psychonaut8527d ago

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.

Demetrius26d ago

Mfs are too sensitive nowadays and would cry instead of being concerned bout real world problems

Demetrius26d ago

Whenever gta 6 launch we won't be getting another rockstar title for another 10 years lol but on the positive side they bou to come back n show how open world supposed to be done 🔥

Skuletor26d ago

I won't expect any singleplayer DLC like IV's The Lost & Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony after it launches either

One I never finished. I've been looking at the ps4 version off Amazon the last few months just never bit

Knightofelemia131d ago

It's worth playing LA Noire is one of my favorite Rockstar games. But I would also check out pawnshops or thrift stores if you want the game dirt cheap. Someone may have been dumb enough to dump the game.

andy85131d ago

Baffles me when people have these opinions about acclaimed games 😂

RhinoGamer88132d ago

100% agree... not perfect, but an engaging/refreshing experience.

sagapo132d ago

Agree, at time of release those facial expressions were amazing! They still hold strong even today imo.
The game on its own was good. Something fresh, but sidequests were a bit meh after a while.

Nacho_Z132d ago

I picked it up on sale recently, going to play it next summer. I'll get more out of it this time, first time around I treated the open world like it was GTA and goofed about, whereas now I'll play it with more respect. RDR2 has trained me well.

I also hadn't read Raymond Chandler at the time so presumably that'll add another layer of enjoyment too.

1nsomniac132d ago (Edited 132d ago )

Absolutely stunning game. So underrated. Played through it again last year and it still stands up so well. Like many of rockstars games it’s actually a far better experience on PC. I didn’t enjoy it as much on console. Completed it at least 3 times on pc.

The rumours of a sequel are awesome news despite the fact I think Rockstar are now the shell of the company they once were.

SyntheticForm132d ago

Team Bondi made a hell of a game.
