Assassin's Creed Revelations Is Next In The Series

DP: Just recently, Ubisoft may have almost spilled the beans on the next Assassin's Creed game, what we presume to be, Assassin's Creed 3. E3 is next month, and some publishers may not wait until the biggest week long celebration in gaming to show their future titles.

Assassins Creed 3 is going to be mind blowing please ubisoft announce it!!

theonlylolking4766d ago (Edited 4766d ago )

They are milking the franchise. I am hoping that AC3 will come out on the next gen console, just to give them time to think of some cool new features and make the game less clunky.

@PillVille
They seem to release every year and with little to no new features or gameplay tweaks.

Pillville4766d ago

It's a planned trilogy (+brotherhood), leading up to 2012 events. They can't wait until next gen because they wouldn't get it out until after 2012.

It's only had 3 major releases so far, how are they milking it?

Johandevries4766d ago

Because they are releasing these games so quickly after each other. Brotherhood was just an excuse to sell more, and it turned out well, but hubris will inevitably come in if theyre trying to keep up with the every year release line

jony_dols4766d ago

I completed Assassins Creed 2 last year and I loved every minute of it.

I then played AC Brotherhood and got bored after 20 minutes, and I haven't touched it since. It just felt like one big expansion pack.......

ALFAxD_CENTAURO4766d ago

AC Brotherhood, is another game based in AC2. Probably is milking, same thing with AC Bloodlines on PSP, that game was based on AC1.

AC3 it will be revealed. And expect another AC based in AC3, like Brotherhood with AC2.

And I've heard AC3 will be the last of the series.

Pillville4766d ago (Edited 4766d ago )

Assassin's Creed 2 added:
Much more weapons to choose from, including an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, 2 different sword types, a spear axe, and 2 smaller blades.
Swimming
Gliding on Da Vinci's flying machine.
Game will feature a new notoriety system that governs how enemy soldiers and people will treat you.
Players can disarm enemies and use their own weapons against them this time.
Each weapon has a special move.
16 unique mission types.
No more eavesdropping or pick-pocketing missions.
If you sustain too much damage to your health you will need to see a street side doctor to regain full strength.
Hidden objects (like flags in Assassin's Creed) are there to uncover but this time if players track them down they will be rewarded with in-game bonuses that make it worth the time.
Items include, flags, statues, and gold coins and more that hasn't been mentioned.
New enemy types with unique attitudes and weaknesses are present in the game. Archers are mentioned, as well as elite enemies, dagger wielders, "Brutish" armored troops with heavy armor and 2 handed swords and axes, and an intelligent halberd enemy will probe hiding places with their weapons if they think you're nearby.
While hiding in a hay bail, players can assassinate people this time, but it may expose their position if a guard is nearby.
There will be a night and day sequence in the game.
Players will be able to assassinate people underwater.
Players will have different tools to use to evade guards. One of these being smoke bombs.

Brotherhood added:
Assassins (training and calling)
Multiplayer
Training Missions
Guild Challenges
Parachute
Crossbow
Execution Streaks
Sync Percent
Shop Quests
Plus a hell of a lot of side missions

Lifendz4766d ago

Nah. I love the series too much to wait till 2014 plus for the next one. I do think they could let Brotherhood breath a little bit more before they drop the next one.

And I don't think it's milking the franchise if all the games are quality. It may be over-saturation, but that's different.

ReservoirDog3164766d ago

They are kinda doing the yearly release thing but* it doesn't appear to be losing too much quality at all. Plus, it's better than more FPS games.

Well those plans went completely out of the window with Brotherhood. Since AC3 will be the 4th game in the franchise so it is no longer a triology, and they already said they hope to turn it into a yearly franchise. Which if AC3 is released this year, would make 3 straight years with a AC game.

After the sales of AC1, and AC2 it is quite obvious they decided to totally shelve their original plan for the triology.

The major problem I have is they have dumb down the series(both AC2, and Brotherhood) where there is no challenge at all in the combat which takes all the excitment out of the combat. AC3 absolutely must have some kind of difficulty level or something.

So far they have yet to release a good game. AC1(boring, and repetious)AC2(no challenge whatsoever, and terrible AI), Brotherhood(no challenge whatsoever, assassins guild so overpowered there is no need of you even playing).

They have got to do something to fix, and balance the game, and also put some kind of difficulty levels in.

All 3 AC games have been dissapointments hopefully they finally deliver a good game with AC3, but if it is released this year I am scared it will be another dissapointment.

Pillville4766d ago (Edited 4766d ago )

It's one continuing story line, it's actually headed somewhere, it's not just "Let's put another one out".

Brotherhood was kind of 2.5 in the trilogy. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a 6 part trilogy.

Although I should mention that I'm only talking about the main releases. I don't really count the portable ones. They ARE cash-ins, no doubt.

Mind blown, it will if they show a new Rainbow Six.

ReservoirDog3164766d ago

I'm gonna have to close my eyes and cover my ears when they announce 3 at E3. Haven't played Brotherhood yet.

MostJadedGamer4766d ago

Well its not AC3 so this thread can be put to rest. Its AC Revelations whatever that means.

kesvalk4766d ago

i don't buy another AC until they take that damn DRM off.

FanOfGaming4766d ago

It's a feature which requires you to be signed into Ubisoft's servers on PC while you play.

Ducky4766d ago

I thought it (the always-online one) was removed? O.o

kesvalk4766d ago (Edited 4766d ago )

the DRM is still there, it's a little more flexible, but it's still dumb...

the whole no lan/aways connected was what made i don't buy SC2 too

and the fact that is not on steam, i only buy games on steam now...

Emilio_Estevez4766d ago

I hope it's not announced soon. They need to take their time and make it really good and worth while. None of this 1 game a year shit.

tdogchristy904766d ago

I want a conclusion. Please don't milk this great franchise. Just conclude it and make me happy.

kesvalk4766d ago

yeah, even if you make another game with the same engine, just conoclude the assassins creed and make another game with it

like a new prince of persia, it would rock on the AC engine.

tdogchristy904766d ago

Even if it's spin offs like odst and reach that's fine. I just want a conclusion to the current story.

When will you decommission this new one? I’m only asking so I can be happier by not buying it at full price.

bunt-custardly622d ago

The dog Chorizo from FAR CRY 6 has wheelchair legs, so is hardly a decommissioned pet. In fact very useful for digging up dirt.

Historic Eras that Video Games Need to Explore

Xfire writes "Worldbuilding is a crucial part of any story. It's not an easy task to create a believable setting with its own set of rules, customs, traditions and political affiliations and then weave a story into the said setting. Luckily, storytellers and video game writers don't always need to create complex settings when we've got history books as thick as Big Chungus.

Historical eras make a fabulous setting for video games. They've already got the world-building nailed, complete with their own set of rules, customs, traditions and political affiliations. Honestly, I don't think I need to justify the fact that historical eras make an amazing setting for video games. If you don't believe me, just go ahead and play the Ghost of Tsushima or any of the Assassin's Creed games."

sourOG1155d ago

The first crusade would be pretty sweet. I’d probably enjoy any of those on your list if they were done respectfully. Like not some dork in Portland making a Russian Revolution game.

Benin Empire, Far East, Central America. Games are pretty biased toward Europe, North America, and the Middle East. There is a very big world out there.
