Operation Flashpoint: Red River review (BeefJack)

BeefJack: "The new Operation Flashpoint tries to bring the two contrasting sides of the first-person action genre together, but it doesn’t merge them as much as it slams them into one another, taking no care to sew up the seams. While you’re in the thick of the action this is still an engrossing, tense and challenging game – but in between, while your foul-mouthed sergeant blathers on about something or other, and the music kicks in at exactly the wrong moment, you might find yourself wondering what exactly you’re supposed to be playing."

this game is so under the radar... lol

I personally found the middle ground very pleasant indeed. Gone was the boring simulation and gone was the repetitive nature of the arcade shooter, replaced instead with a nice balance of action and thoughtful game-play. I'm really enjoying it.

I hope more games go this way in the future, because its a really nice change of pace.

Off Topic: John man I can't wait for your game!

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet3588d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded773588d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
