Set to launch across Europe this week, after a very busy beta testing phase, Frogster has revealed the official box art design for their Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) Mythos. Set to launch at retail today, Mythos will also be available via a downloadable client.
Hanbitsoft and T3Fun have announced that the open beta for their online action role-playing game, Mythos Global is now live. European fans can once again join in the action after Mythos Europe was closed down last year. Mythos is set in the land of Uld, a fantasy world arisen from the ashes of a dark and terrible war. Uld is a place where many different races live and where gods try their best to gain more power and influence among their followers.
DSOGaming writes: "Sad news for fans of MYTHOS, as Frogster’s community manager announced that MYTHOS Europe will be closing its doors on October 27th at 12:00 CEST (11am UK). According to the team, MYTHOS enjoyed great popularity with the launch in April and the numerous registered users ensured a good start. The desired long-term success unfortunately did not follow and under these circumstances, they have made the difficult decision to discontinue the operation of MYTHOS."
Massively: The last time we profiled Mythos on Massively, it was in service of some new content. It's no surprise, then, that Frogster is once again expanding the free-to-play hack-and-slash MMO. This time the new bells and whistles can be found on the Fog Island of Horror, and in case the name didn't drive the point home, it's a pretty scary place.
This is actually a very fun game. I followed this project (and beta tested) since almost as far back as when Flagship had developed this as their testing ground for the online system to be used in Hellgate: London, and eventually spawned into a real game of it's own. It's come a very long way since then, having less classes, only the overhead view, and a single town, into many towns, more classes, an "MMO camera" and much more content.
I'm a huge fan of dungeon crawlers, so obviously this really appeals to me. While it still needs some stuff ironed out, it's really enjoyable, especially with friends, and I hope that HanbitSoft sees a lot of interest considering the price range they seem to be introducing it at (£10 in EU, which in NA will probably end up being around $15). It's a straight fun dungeon crawler that takes a ideas from some of the best others out there, and has it's own uniqueness to it. If they can nail the camera movement a little better I think they've got a very solid game.
