With video games being the multi-billion dollar industry that it is today, it’s not exactly surprising when games start to copy each other’s features. For every Call of Duty game, there are a host of other “copycat” FPS games. For every Oblivion, there are a bunch of other similar RPGs.
Examiner: Action RPG (role-playing game) Din’s Curse—and its recently launched expansion Din’s Curse: Demon War doesn’t boast the sophistication or production values of inspirations such as Torchlight and Diablo II, but beneath its rough exterior beats the heart of an equally addictive action RPG rockin’ a strangely retro and even nostalgia-inducing vibe.

Din’s Curse and its expansion, Demon War, is an indie project with no small amount of ambition and soul. Lofty goals alone almost elevate this game above its roots, but all those ideas rest on a very rickety coding foundation, prone to breaking down and becoming very frustrating.
