Operation Flashpoint: Red River review

STN Writes:

If you’re happy with a slower paced and more tactical squad based shooter, then you can’t really go wrong with Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Even those brought up on the bombastic offerings of recent times deserve to give this a try to see if they can enjoy something that requires much more than just an itchy trigger finger.

Rating: Excellent

What does it play like online?

The game was designed around a coop only experience and its pretty addicting with its class and levelling up system. Not sure on the longevity, but getting all four classes to level 20 is quite time consuming. Its a lot of fun if your into coop.

I was wondering how a review could be posted so early, then I saw that it came out in Europe a few days ago. I wonder why its not out in the U.S till June?

If this is near good as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfigther for PC, I will try it.

it's slower than GRAW and less straightfoward. You get a lot more decison making points in a flashpoint game than GRAW.

I have both envy and hate for all your Europeans xD..you've lately been getting all the games earlier then us Americans.

Shame us PSN users can't do co-op! Ah well, soon.

This is great! More shooters that require heavy teamwork, strategy and not mindless shooting is what I prefer.

Hope it does well in sales.

Off Topic: John man I can't wait for your game!

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet3569d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded773569d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

AntsPai3569d ago

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
