That does not look ergonomic at ALL

iPlayGamez4780d ago

its a rectangle who would want to hold that? i doubt it wouldnt have handles, it a controller not an ipad

nicholaswrites4780d ago

the same people who hold and iPad or Kindle

Bull5hifT4780d ago (Edited 4780d ago )

I have a feeling that they dont want to spend much to make a really powerfull system so they are going to fool you by forcing you to play on a small screen where the resolution can suck but still be acceptable.. And maby they dont want to make sony richer by adopting Blu-ray ,so they know that games made for smaller screens need less Resolution textures that take up less space , so another mind trick... I read the 3DS screen resoultion is like 200X400 where the NGP is like 640x960 .......... Im worried about sony announcing NGP to use 2-4 gig memory chips for games i hope thats not set in stone
And years into its lifecycle sony finds a way to shrink the 32GB pro duo to be used for games , if needed

That's kinda stupid...

People complained when the first xbox controller was too big, didn't fit well in their hands...

This...thing...looks...like it's going to be a pain in the ass. Probably costly too..

nicholaswrites4780d ago

It's not as thick as the Xbox controller through

Finger-Eater4780d ago

Still don't get why there is a god damn screen on the controller.

iPlayGamez4780d ago

there are many uses if you have imagination.

wouldnt it be fun to play with 4 player offline on CoD with each player having their own 6" screen so there will be no screen watching. and the main tv could be used as a scoreboard and showing highlights like killcams.

in games like Resident Evil 5 and Zelda you can use the screen as an invetory so you can change items in real time.

Rainstorm814780d ago

It just doesnt seem very intuitive....you still have to stop looking at the screen to choose items on the controller screen.

As far as 4 player COD now that is a unique idea, but then at the same time most people just get online.

With the screen on the controller, project cafe's controller is looking like the system's a non-portable extremly powerful DS, i cant wait to see what the games can do.

sp1deynut4780d ago

...because playing a FPS on a 5" screen is so much more fun than playing on 1/4 of a large TV. /s

ChickeyCantor4780d ago

"of a large TV"

In your world everything must be big.
Don't speak for others.

Rute4780d ago

I would imagine using such a large controller would be a real strain if some games require motion controls like aiming.

I still like my concept better :) :

Agree with me if you like my concept, disagree if you dislike.

Brasi824780d ago (Edited 4780d ago )

Your concept does look very nice. Only thing I can see wrong with it is I could see problems with the locking mechanism holding the 2 together. All in all though a very nicely done and well thought out design for the control.

on a side note just got done playing GoldenEye 007 for Wii. Started with Wii-mote and Nunchuk, then moved to Classic Pro. I must say I did a helluva lot better with the pointer. I really hope they make it into a mainstay on the controller and not some extra add on.

Rute4780d ago (Edited 4780d ago )

Thanks. Yeah, the aiming with wiimote can really improve the ability to control compared to analog stick control, and it also immerses the gamer deeper in the experience.

gypsygib4780d ago (Edited 4780d ago )

Agreed, pointer controls are WAY better for FPS games. Your accuracy and and aiming speed are vastly improved.

iPlayGamez4780d ago

bubble up for interesting concept, but i didnt like it. it looks uncomfortable when they are connected together. and a 6.2 inch screen hanging off the nunchuck looks awkward, plus how would you use the touch screen if it is above the nunchuck.

gypsygib4780d ago

That looks really uncomfortable. Still not sold on a controller with a screen.

If I'm playing a game wouldn't my attention be on the TV? Also, can't anything that's supposed to be done on controller screen just be done in game on an in-game screen. Both would divert attention from the game like a pause screen.

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H94d ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX4d ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

H94d ago

I didn't do any gymnastics I can assure you, honestly I don't know why you think that, not hating I seriously don't see why you think that

ZeekQuattro3d ago

Yeah I don't know where that came from. It's rare for Nintendo to flat out aquire studios. Guess they were trying to be edgy but why flex on this studio. 🤣

Kneetos3d ago

At least they are safer from layoffs with Nintendo then any other company

banger884d ago

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk774d ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos4d ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

SonOfOsiris4d ago

Yeah this guys ported MK11 which is great, Hogwarts Legacy which is great, and MK1 is now ok, play it every day

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Inverno21d ago

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
