Well that's good at least they know what caused it.

Edit:Goes back to to the challenge tower.F*** you Shao Kahn cheapest boss ever.

Blaze9294755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

they don't know what caused it. they know 'who' caused it. So sounds like everything is ok, they just shut it down to find out how whoever entered their system did so for future protection and seal whatever big ass hole they have up.

Otherwise as soon as it goes back up, it'll go right back down. Hopefully, them "learning" doesn't take too long.

But that's kinda crazy, from the way they made it sound earlier, it was like they could not figure out why it was down. All this time, they were the ones who flipped the switch. Even crazier that someone got INTO the system, not just shut it down. They freakin got in. *checks credit card statement like a madman for the next few weeks*

Muerte24944755d ago

Yea, I actually have to agree with you there Blaze. They had very poor public relations communication going on there. It's not really a big deal. I get some time to practice on MVC3, and collect some extra trophies.
Can you really complain about a free service going down though? I'm not mad about it and I have PS+. I've recouped the 50 bucks I have spent a long time ago.

Gothdom4755d ago

I agree that the public relations were poor, but in this situation, maybe there was a reason to all the silence. What if they didn't want the party responsible to know they were found?

And to tell the truth, I'm actually surprised about the transparancy of this post from Sony. I mean, they almost literally said the problem was linked with hackers through the Qriocity access. Usually, sony says nothing and moves on (like that clock thing)...

sdtarm4755d ago

it was probably uninformed members from anon, thats why they canceled the op, someone messed up and they know its matter of time until Sony says it was them who attacked the PSN yet again, when that happens everyone gets mad at them and they're screwed

Rainstorm814755d ago

The dumbest thing is, that this is going to probably force sony's hand in future consoles to move to a more secure service possibly causing it to be a pay service similar to XBL, because this is becoming a little more than an "annoyance".

Thanks Hackers or who ever responsible, Thanks for nothing!

@1
yes Shao Khan is ridiculously cheap....but i beat him with Kratos only using the bow and arrow move, gotta be cheap to beat a cheap person i guess.

RememberThe3574755d ago

Yeah and them there will be tons of haters out there bashing Sony calling them greed and consciously ignoring the fact that hackers are causing all these problems not Sony.

We're all supposed to hate Sony but its the hackers that are causing all the problems. Other OS would still be there if it wasn't for hackers yet hackers use Other OS as an excuse to hack. Their reasoning is circular.

MeanOldman4755d ago

sony shut down to get as full look at the damage an to make sure they had everthing secure. but i think they also pulled out the stops an investigated. i think the people behind this should be gettin worried cause you never can fully cover your tracks an if someone has the money an resources they will get to the bottom of it.

darksied4755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

@Raiinstorm81 and RememberThe357

Nail on the head, 100% correct.

Sony might be a large corporation, but guess what: if it's a choice between siding with them and "selling out" or with these jerk-offs who keep hacking with their twisted logic and morals against fighting "the man," then call me a sell out.

I just wish the FBI would get involved in this already, even if it's not Anonymous who did it. A couple of those punk hackers in jail for a few years would scare the rest. They are, after all, just cowards who attack from behind a monitor. I actually have to give credit for those hand-full of anonymous who actually got up off their asses and went to Sony stores to protest, laughable and ridiculous as it was.

I'm just so tired of this.

I_find_it_funny4755d ago

thank you for your patience? bullshit Im not patient I want the network up and running NOW

darthv724754d ago (Edited 4754d ago )

This down time is a real drag. I expect some compensation for having to put up with this.

A free game would be nice. MS has done that in the wake of unexpected service issues.

I expect no less from sony.

/s yeah that is sarcasm.

No offense to sony but that seems like a damage control answer to calm the masses of people who are wanting to get online. For all we know they dont know how or who or what and they just had to say something that sounded legit.

jadenkorri4754d ago

with a free service constantly going down, eventually the company will have to charge to keep it up, who pays, us gamers. Gamers pirate games, price on games go up, hackers hack Other o/s, we, who used honestly, lose access. Hackers hack a free psn service which cost probably millions to keep-up, is now probably doubling with Anon attacks, It wouldn't surprise me if sony announced charging for online. They get Scott-free since all the blame would be directed at Anonymous. The company would take less of a hit now if they were to move on it now. We all know its coming, paying for psn like live, whether now or on the ps4.

HappyGaming4754d ago

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Its now Anon vs FBI...

lol Anonymous are such losers taking big risks for no reason...

Lykon4754d ago

if i saw anonymous protesting at a store I'd be tempted to put them in hospital.

Wow Sony turned it off themselves??

WTF? They better hurry and fix whatever needs to be fixed ASAP already!!!!

gamingdroid4755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

Nah... Now that PSN represents a security risk they are going to disable it, just like they did OtherOS! /!s

Blaze9294755d ago

aw come on...you have to admit gamingdroid's comment was KIND of funny >_>

Soldierone4754d ago

They did it because people were unable to sign in thanks to the idiots messing with the DNS server sign in. And it was spreading like a virus really fast.

Then people started getting an account era when accessing the PSN Store and that posed a security risk. Sony was smart by simply shutting it down and blocking all access. Thus the idiot hackers were probably still trying to break through and Sony had an easy way to target them.

Sucks to be the loser that will be sitting in court after this one.

P_Bomb4755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

An "external intrusion", so a hack?

Wow, peeps just couldn't leave well enough alone eh? Thx guys. I'd love to tell the external intrusionees where to internally shove this, lol.

@disagrees
You approve when people feel entitled to or go after things that aren't their's? Just because someone CAN "intrude" something, doesn't mean they should.

Dante1124755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

My bad, double post.

FamilyGuy4755d ago

1. This might be steam related. New service with access to the playstation network. Maybe Newhall or some other insider still has hated for Sony after all.
Using anon as their patsy.

2. Microsoft. Just so happens that this occurs during their free weekend, it's a little too coincidental.

3. Sony wanted to do some large scale maintenance on their severs but didn't know how to break the news to it's users so they came up with a bs story.
May even be related to creating a stronger protection against anon, modders or hackers, something a firmware update would be unable to fix.

Blad3star4755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

Could be a combination of all 3

Gabe was a sleeper cell for MS who was brainwashed to infiltrate the PSN and deploy project STEAM which stands for Sony's Technical Errors Are Mandatory.

But first MS had to take some of the attention from Gabe so the called upon ANON and special agent Geohotz.

With all the attention on the hackers, Gabe was able to deploy project STEAM but Sony got him and shut down PSN before project STEAM was %100 complete.

Prototype4755d ago

2 and 3 I'd almost bet on because its odd with Socom and Mortal Kombat being out out of no where PSN gets hacked...

And with the free weekend with Microsoft they gonna advertise "unlike the other service ours is up 24/7 with minimal issues..."

Makes me sick just thinking about how much time and effort wasted just to wait longer because of some asshole that thinks its funny to ruin other people's hobby out of "Feeling righteous"

rockleex4754d ago

Dang, these theories sound like MGS5 or something.

Soldierone4754d ago

Problem is the first two are idiotic moves by any major corperation. Sony already basically put Sega out of business by playing dirty tricks. MS tried something that stupid and they would be banned from the console market too....Valve did something purposely that stupid, guess who would be owning them after that?

The last one is just a stupid business mistake by Sony. 3 MAJOR releases and suddenly they think its the perfect time to shut the servers down for 3 days?

You can thank the "hackers" that think ruining our services and causing havok is somehow helping our rights....im sure we will all appreciate their services when Sony is forced to charge for PSN to make it secure....

RBLAZE19884755d ago

So I guess the scumbag group who was claiming they aren't responsible for PSN being down, lied to the public and actually were the ones responsible. If this doesn't wake up all you guys on here defending them then you're all idiots. And like a lot of people last month said, Anonymous will cause a stir for a couple of days and then forget about it like they have with every organization. What do you know, today they said that they're attack is over. What a bunch of scumbag parasites.

xAlmostPro4754d ago

Anyone else think it might be via steamworks by a PC user? :s

X-DominusRebellis-X4754d ago

Well fix it ASAP! I have a flight out to Montreal tomorrow morning and I need to sign in in order to transfer games to my PSP! Stupid stupids!

Warprincess1164755d ago

Hm... external. So it was those losers. Sony please get this fix by tomorrow. This is ridiculous.

Redempteur4755d ago

it's really pathetic ...what is happening ... not sony fault so far since they claim to have been attacked ..

but i wonder if such a attack would have been possible if some moron hadn't released the keys over the internet ...

Seriously ...

xAlmostPro4754d ago

I honestly don't think it was 'anonymous' not those part of OpSony anyway.

Those part of OpSony have been pretty open and grounded with the statements and words released.

However im not saying it's not some butthurt 14 yearolds who were annoyed that OpSony ended.

I also have a sneaky thought that it may be via steamworks though :s

Dante1124755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

Probably jailbreakers using that rebug exploit to get free PSN content from the store. Sony's probably closing it up. Go to psxscene to see what I mean.

Nitrowolf24755d ago (Edited 4755d ago )

i was thinking that to, but according to many they are separate servers. I don't think they would need to close all of it AND Qriocity. closing Qriocity to me because of that reason just doesn't make sense.
I'm gonna stick with what media molecule said and just say hackers got in and can see credit infos and such (that would make sense to close Qriocity then)

@Dante below

ahh my bad
And i just realized that Qriocity uses PSN sign in also, so yeah that def a possibility.

Either way i want to get back on, oh well guess MK9 challenge tower will keep me busy till

Dante1124755d ago

Wasn't that on the unofficial LBP fan page which turned out not to be Media Molecule?

flyingmunky4755d ago

Free psn content huh? That might track with the error message I got right before psn went down. I tried to get into the psn store and got a really weird error message. Something to the effect of 'no further funds can be added to your account at this time'. Maybe hackers tried to give everyone free psn bucks?

I just hope they don't have my debit card information now.

Rolling the Dice: Do Modern RPGs Miss the Point of Team-Based Play?

It seems it was long time ago. A bunch of friends spending hours on end playing RPG games, sitting around the table with the box of cold pizza. Excited about the story, listening to the Game Master, they were completely engaged in the worlds only visible to them and their imaginations.

The GM is the programmer, and in MMOs and co-ops, you can play with others. If you want to ONLY use your imagination for the visuals, read a book.

1) Hope they put it on disc this time.
2) Hope this is a positive for Neptune coming over as well.

Demons Souls5073d ago

If so, that's being developed & published by Idea Factory. Compile Heart has nothing to do with it (Thank God for that).

Godmars2905073d ago (Edited 5073d ago )

Thought Compile Heart was one of the companies lending characters.

Was also speaking in general as in regards to a US of Neptune. If these guys are offing a second game, NIS or Atlus, both of whom offer quirkier titles, will put that one out.

@kagon01:
My issue isn't - wholly - with the DL-only option, but the price. The first game should be $30. Maybe $40, and by that I mean $39.99. The only reason its $45 is the 360 disc version which has extras. Nevermind that by all rights its a PS2 game. Something that proabbly could have been done if the devs had the GOW2 engine or tools.

ClownBelt5073d ago

I approve of this god damn message.

Could have gotten my 60 bucks if they just put it on a disc.

Another exclusive damnn the ps3 keeps on rollin wit games awesome ;)

Jack-Pyro5073d ago

Is this a half decent SRPG, porn aside, cause if it is, i might just decide to go and buy it for the 360.

Anon73495073d ago

There's no porn just some sexual innuendos but that's it.

Also it is a great game by itself, maybe not graphically but everything else is top tier.

RedDevils5073d ago

so it had some kind of "top tier" porn story jk

ThanatosDMC5073d ago

Yup, it's a decent game. I just hate that a move has to go first before any attack options.
