Before Sonic Generations releases, allyoucangeek.net gives 20 ways to bring Sonic back to the good side of gaming for his 20th birthday.
Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?
Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.
Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.
Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2
Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭
The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.
BLG writes: "With the success of the films and the promise of Frontiers, it’s possible that we’re ushering in a new golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog. While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
it was saved with sonic colors :) I think new one will be a good title too
1. Don't listen to the fans. Their hearts are in the wright place, but like StarFox, they ruined the franchise.
2. Make a 2D HD sprite game. None of this 2.5D 3D model crap.
3. The only acceptable playable characters are Sonic, Tails, maybe Knuckles.
4. Get the original music composer out of retirement.
5. Make the game about two things:
5a. Speed.
5b. Rings.
6. Don't make it episodic you greedy shits. Episodic releases are for small and indie companies who want fan-driven success. Not for mega-corporations who have released their own damned consoles.
How difficult can this possible be?
I agree with most of the points however it is Sonic Adventure 2 that was the last great Sonic game. The only reason some people hated that too was because it became completely linear and lost the RPG style free roaming of Sonic Adventure 1.
There needs to be a Sonic Adventure 3 with almost no new characters at all and get back the mild free roaming from SA1. They tried doing that in Sonic Unleashed but it sucked because of the bad controls, camera view and werehog levels.
Also, they need to cater to the older audiences too because we are the ones who grew up with Sonic. Make the story a tad bit mature so everyone can be attracted and not just retarded kids.
I think it's completely wrong to go back to the 2D route. It should be like Mario by keep making 2D and 3D games.
try it, really :)
