Today SEGA America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. announced details of Sonic Generations, the highly anticipated video game title in development to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary. Delivering the definitive gaming experience for Sonic fans old and new, Sonic Generations sees Sonic the Hedgehog playable as both the much loved classic 1991 character, and the modern day video game hero he has become in this exciting new fast paced adventure. Sonic Generations will speed into stores for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation3 computer entertainment system for Holiday 2011.
Sega has released its financial statement for the 2023-24 fiscal year, and profits may be up, but it's mostly not down to video games.
SEGA has announced Fearless: Year of Shadow, a campaign that celebrates Sonic the Hedgehog and his brooding acquaintance, Shadow.
GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.
The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
The problem usually isn't Sonic. It's Big the Cat and Ruby and all the other crap that comes with him.
Maybe if expectations are kept low, it will actually turn out playable this time. The concept sounds interesting at least.
I'd really like to see a good Sonic game pop up this generation. Sonic Colors wasn't bad, but it wasn't that spectacular either.
The only part that worries me is the "save their friends" part... i hope they STAY captured and you rescue them at the ending... no friends ingame please...
Classic Sonic: Man, I really let myself go.
