Edmund McMillen has been explaining how Team Meat felt “taken advantage of” by Microsoft during the launch period of acclaimed platformer Super Meat Boy.
Microsoft is a little slow this month when it comes to announcing the Games with Gold lineup for June 2022. This has led to the lineup leaking ahead of the announcement.
Super Meat Boy was a Games with Gold title back in 2016..It's leftover Meat from 2016
I actually really enjoyed Aven Colony when it was on Gamepass. I got it for free from Epic Store a few months back.
I’ll give it another go.
"Now that we finally have a sequel to the iconic super-difficult indie platformer, let's examine both and see which one's the meat to beat." - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums
Vote for either Super Meat Boy or Super Meat Boy Forever at the bottom of the article! 🎮😄
The last decade wasn't the Golden Age of platformers, that's for sure, but there were still many great games. Check out Wccftech's shortlist!
They put Celeste in the honorable mentions. Such a shame, this game is premium in platforming. Rayman is also def a 10/10 platformer.
An appropriatly named site too.
THIS....bitchin abt SONY
“We Cant EVER do a ps3 version of super meat boy because when we were going into negotiations with publishers Sony was the only one who didn’t express much interest in the game. We assumed this ment that they didn’t want the game and decided to sign with Nintendo and Microsoft. Our contracts excluded any release on Ps3.
AND NOW...bitchin abt M$
“Our spotlight placement was gone by day five and never came back,” said McMillen. “We never got a review by Major Nelson nor did we get an explanation for why Microsoft launched SMB alongside Costume Quest, or for why, even though we exceeded their expectations for sales and score, we weren’t given the treatment we were promised, even while they continued to heavily promote other Game Feast titles like Comic Jumper.”
“We were told our price was too high, our visuals too rough and simply not as eye-catching and flashy as the other Game Feast games [such as] Comic Jumper and Hydrophobia"
Really, thats what Microsoft should have said to the guys who made Hydrophobia, not Team Meat >;/
And this is coming from someone who has Hydrophobia and does not have SMB.
"Hey guys, if you get the sales, we'll give you the advertising!"
"Why would we give you the advertising, when you're already selling so well?!"
Team Meat need a manager with bigger balls. The Nickel and Dime is the oldest trick in the book.
Thats Microsoft for you. Instead of encouraging their developers, like Sony do, they put them down and then are surprised when no one wants to make games for them.
