Gears of War Begin to Turn...

TIG: ..."After openly admitting that the Gears of War 2 multiplayer was lackluster, slow, and not nearly as seamless or as polished as need be, EPIC has dismantled the machine entirely. They kept some of the parts they liked, bought some upgrades, and added a few CoGs, so to speak, with the aim of creating a machine unlike any other the world has seen before. In an epiphany of ingenuity and originality, EPIC has named this new machine Gears of War 3. Just like all first-class machines, it needs refinement and test subjects in order to work out all the kinks. This is exactly where you step in – no engineering degree required."...

Gears 2 had an epic campaign, the online to start with was pretty bad, but within the past year they have made strides to make the online much, much better. including dedicated servers and the ability to back out of lobby's in the game lobby now. Even the addition of social lobby's was a great idea.

Cant wait for the 18th so I can get involved with Gears 3!

I have a 1 mb connection and I can still give as good as I get online. True some games are choppy and host advantage is ridiculous sometimes, but I get sick of hearing people with 10x my speed still whining about lag.

Anyway, looking real forward to Gears 3. It's going to be an amazing experience and will reclaim Gears' reputation as being one of the best multiplayer games on the 360 (like the original). Much as I love Gears 2 (and dislike it on many many occasions), the series is in dire need for an update to survive in the online community.

I'm only able to play Horde mode and can never connect to anything else in GOW2. I still think its fun and play occasionally.

That being said...I love the series and pre-ordered GOW3 but don't feel its necessary to join the beta or get involved at all. I have faith it'll be the best of the series. There are a ton of games coming out soon and Gears isn't too far away...The beta testing is great for the game development though so kudos to epic.

Gears is still the standard and nothing has had as much impact as it since the first game. I still play today and can't wait to kill some of you in the beta....April 18th lock and load!!

Epic Games Faces $1.2 Million Fine Over "Unfair Practices," Plans to Fight Back

Epic Games is facing a $1.2 million fine by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets over "unfair practices" in the Fortnite shop.

Sciurus_vulgaris25d ago

It might be cheaper to simply pay the fine. Fighting said fine could cost millions due to court and lawyer fees. Fortnite generates well over a 100 million in each month, so Epic has plenty of cash.

franwex24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

But if they did pay it, then they are basically admitting that they did something they weren’t supposed to be doing. If they fight it, they may win and continue to have a sense of urgency for their micro transactions thus making more money long term.

Goodguy0124d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Meaning more suits to follow from others if they don't fight as well.

Not a fan of Epic nor fortnite and their micro transactions. But the game is heavily supported and is free to play, all store items are completely cosmetic.

Furesis24d ago

I'd fight back too. These are kinda meaningless reasons to fine someone like really for THAT. It's like they just wanted to make money or something.

Sephiroushin24d ago

There is a law for something, but even if its stupid follow it because if you break it you pay for it; if they knew they cant place a “buy now” in NL then just dont do it!

Why Epic's Win Against Apple And Google Paves The Way For The Future Of Mobile Gaming

Epic Games winning its cases against both Apple and Google is shaping the way forward for the future of mobile gaming.

shinoff218387d ago

I feel alot of mobile gamers are kids which will at some point probably turn to console or pc. Mobile gaming just doesn't cut it for me.

AlterRecs86d ago

tru dat, but i feel like it's gonna be a lot more viable for people who travel a lot or don't want to invest in a full gaming rig. Think of it as a Switch on drugs, with a LOT more room for free illegal downloads.
