VG247: "Blison said that review scores also matter less to him now than “a month ago,” because he has realized that “when you make a mass-market game it’s more like the film business.” This, he said means that the idea of the game and its concept will “resonate with a large group or it won’t.”
“If [Homefront was] universally panned, I would say ‘Yeah I guess it didn’t work’,” he said. “I think the idea of 50 reviews that are so radically spread says that we made a game that has a point of view and that you might even argue is controversial. When we set out, and I was sitting with Kaos in New York, I was saying ‘Guys, if we’re going to make a modern shooter of any kind, we have to compete with the best of the world.’ I remember in those meetings, the summary was: ‘We don’t expect to beat those guys; our mission is to be in the conversation.’
Jack writes: "Back in March 2011, the first-person action shooter Homefront arrived on the Xbox 360 from THQ, along with a storm of publicity which included a really cool live-action trailer"
Last week game dev Steve Thornton took to Twitter to ask: fellow devs, have you ever slipped something into a game you're working on that's just for you? The replies are well worth a read.
Deep Silver and Humble Bundle are currently offering the first Homefront game for free. This offer will last for the next 48 hours, so be sure to visit its Humble Bundle page in order to acquire your free copy.
get it! the single player is excellent and intense and the MP is pretty fun, too.
Ehh, PS4 needs these deals too, or consoles in general we always get discounts rarely free stuff that's REALLY free (games with gold / psplus isn't free)
Well the last time i check, the graphics in "Homefront" is horrible so i don't think you can call that art. This game was a rushed messed so i personally think it average score should be lower.
of course it not 71, it deserve 50 max
of course you can apply math to art.
He says he the goal is to aim for 100, doesn't that kind of contradicts what your saying then?
the "71" is an average of all the scores. If the game was averaging in 9 he would not come out and say that, this is just an excuse that he is using.
Now with applying math to art, yeah kind of true, but the rating is meant to be seen as how the reviewers felt about the game. They can take away scores but that isn't gonna stop people from criticizing the game. I say the game deserve what it got, some gave it a 10 and others gave it a 5.
Homefront is art? BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right.
