As for the version, Im going to have to rock the PC since Ill feel like Im cheating myself not getting the best graphical experience. After all, I haven't really had a chance to push my PC since I've basically been using it as a SC2 box for the last year.

A lot of the sales success of a game has to do with the amount of buzz it creates. Battlefield 3 is already a success in that department, and I'm sure the buzz will only increase between now and launch, especially if they put out a kick-ass E3 trailer, which you know they will.

No it depends on who you ask, I thought COD was a blast, sure it had big problems with cheating for awhile but I enjoyed the game nevertheless. jrbeeman, yes I played Battlefield2 multiplayer for a couple of days, and while I can appreciate its a more teamwork oriented game than COD I just couldnt really get into it, MW2 is more fast paced, more action imo, and although the cheating was abundant for awhile I still had 2-3 hrs of great gaming everytime. I recently bought Crysis2, its a visual masterpiece, but the gameplay didnt really standout imo, still its a good game but I find myself quickly gravitating back to BO. I mean BO has been like crack for me over the last few months. I did not like the previous COD IP from Treyarch but I think they did an outstandanding job this time improving on IW formula that made COD4, and MW2 so great and its going to take a helluva lot more than some PR exec to pry me away from it. n4g thinks only young kids who dont know any better prefer COD series, but Im 36 and Ive been gaming since waaay back when the original Atari released, and I can tell you most of my buds are 25-40 and most all of them love COD just as much as I do.

4sh0w - it won't take much to drop you from BO - one day, you'll overdose, become unconscious, and accidentally put CoD4 or BFBC2 in your system during your early afternoon haze.

I can't believe they gave them to me free!" and then you'll run around trying to spray n' pray and knife, but your K/D will be negative 4, and then you'll realize that you're not in that world anymore.

Bottom Line: Battlefield FEELS like a war is taking place and you are in it.
COD is you running around in a maze, a pretty maze, but its pretty straight forward.

So its a matter of what kind of game you want to play.

Battlefield is to overwhelming for some players, while COD fits some just right.

I like more options in my gaming, I'm particular to BF and Homefront. I lost interest in COD after 4, even though I've played the others.

I'm looking forward to Brink, hopefully it will be something new, cause Crysis 2 is shit. That's a campers heaven.

Exactly. BF requires you to sometimes spend a minute or two flanking a position, or strategically laying down mines, etc. There's a lot more thought involved in between the shooting. In CoD, you can generally run across the entire map in 10 seconds, and strategy is only somewhat effective given the random spawn points.

Don't be that upset at them, they HAVE to do this. CoD has such a following that people will buy it without a second thought; to get through to those people, you have to catch their attention, and this might be the only way. They need to add these kind of statements into their commercials to get people who don't frequent video game websites to get this information.

And I don't think they ever said the game will sell better, so the sales figures don't really matter NOW. They are just saying they have made the better game, and considering how much work they have put into this game, what we've seen, and how much of an improvement it is (assuming everything works the way they say) then this could very well be a better game than CoD. Very true. There's that feeling like, you want the game you support to have the sales it deserves. So I want Battlefield 3 to be a great game, and yes, I want it to sell a lot, more than CoD if that's possible. But think about what that means: if it sells more than the next CoD, that means it drew that CoD audience in, and that is not exactly what most people want (the CoD fanbase is NOT the same as the Battlefield or Bad Company gamers). What a lot of people on n4g say is true, the common person doesn't know anything except the names of the games. I think if EA and Dice want people to realize that they have a better game than CoD, they need to show that in tv adverts. You know, maybe show some snippets or single comments from critics that actually compare the 2 (like, "blows CoD out of the water!" or something). Otherwise, average people will just be like, "I'll just get CoD, I don't know how good this is."

BF is like 80 times better than COD, but the problem is that they DICE made a horrific transition to consoles with the first few battlefield titles. The console version was pretty bad up until the last installment of the franchise.

BF3 IS not going to take COD of the first place in sales, but it will be enough to restore BF to it's rightful place as one of the top shooters available in any console.

there's nothing like taking on a tank by yourself when the game is on the line and BF is the only place where you can do that and win if you are good enough.

In my opinion, Battlefield Bad Company 2 was better than Modern Warfare 2. I feel that the FPS multiplay genre has changed for more of a casual audience....(With all the killstreaks,rewards/perks for camping, and Care Packet stuff.)

BFBC2 is kinda the same, but separated by the fact that their battle is at least trying to keep the game experience balanced. I'm not crying bout it....just understand that COD is a pick up and play game, and you don't need teamwork to win. (like Halo) games that offer team/squad based play doesn't appeal to everyone. You need a medic, engineer, sniper, and in some cases, a good vehicle drive, to all play their part in a win. ARMA, BFBC2, Killzone, parts of Halo, make it so you have to at least be organized to win.

The COD series is Arcade shooter disguised as a realistic FPS. (I'm in the US Army, and there's no silencers for lightweight machine guns, M162A, M60, or carbine assault rifles....and you can't run superfast while wearing a UBA, vest, or caring tons of stuff.)

A lot of people go on about CoD fans being morons and whatever, but Battlefield fans are just as annoying in my opinion. Always raving on about Battlefield being the best shooter ever and DICE can apparently do no wrong.

I like the atmosphere in Battlefield, but the gameplay in general feels too sluggish to me. Some of the animations are a bit dodgy, and the hit detection/lag is pretty bad most of the time. Then there's the snipers sat in bushes about a mile from the action, people all camping near vehicle spawns trying to grief each other because they want the tank, etc.

I'm not saying CoD doesn't have it's problems but I just prefer the faster pace, and the smoothness of it all. It just depends on what sort of experience you're after.

I play both games religiously. I only play Call of Duty on console and I play the Battlefield games on PC. Naturally I have issues with both, but they are so minimal that they have never impeded my enjoyment of the game.

Both are niche games. You won't be able to instantly get into Battlefield as quickly as you do with CoD, but it's also more rewarding to do the team-thing in Battlefield. Call of Duty at its best is absolutely amazing to play. At its worst, it's downright awful.

I think the people that hate CoD haven't put in a legitimate amount of time to really criticise it (they put in 5-6 hours online, have a few terrible games, and never play it again). Battlefield took me around a days-worth of playtime before I truly understood what I needed to do, and I'm still not great, but I love it. It's impossible to get into Call of Duty online now because the regulars that have been playing since Cod4 know what to expect, for better or for worse. New players arrive to a bombardment of Cod veterens.

BFBC2 and COD are both really fun games, but as a whole package, BFBC2 is undoubtedly the better shooter.

Battlefield 3 is the most excited I've been for a war shooter in... ever?

No one is doubting BF3 will be better then any COD Dice.
BFBC2 was better then COD.

Problem is, building the better game won't equal more sales then COD.

If you are trying to achieve sales anywhere close to COD, you WILL need to noobify the game and make it twitchy and arcadey, combined with MASSIVE marketing.

The problem with this is that the game's quality gameplay will be dramatically decreased.

Dont forget Call of duty is not too different from guitar hero and tony hawk games.

very popular and sold well, but got overdone and people grew tired of the games.

Call of duty is on another level, being the number 1 game for a few years now, so it may take longer, but people will begin to tire of this game.

I think the empty promise that BO would fix the issues of MW2 and bring people back to the MW1 may have pushed people away from buying this years already.

I will say that Call of duty is not a bad game, but I just cant play the same game every year with minimal changes, I have played 10 dollar expansions that have more changes than COD has had over the last four years.

The power of advertising and name branding will almost always guarantee that somewhere, somehow a lesser game will get better reviews and sales than a superior one.

Even if the next COD is a copy of the last, it is poised to sell more than Battlefield - no matter if BF turned out to be twice as good.

The hype surrounding this game is practically orbiting the planet.

I can see a huge dissapointment on the way, not for retards anyway...they lap up anything with pretty graphics and sound but the BF2 players will be dissapointed, garunteed.

THis game has proven to be nothing more than a graphic and sound showcase but yet everyone is saying its the best game ever already when realistically it could end up being a polished turd.
