The Last Guardian vs Shadow of the Colossus: HD Screenshot Comparison

GB: "Shadow of the Colossus was one of the best games for the PlayStation 2. I don't know why, but it was underrated by many publications back then. For me Shadow of the Colossus was one of those games that redefined the PlayStation 2 experience in 2005. Fast forward six years , 2011, The Last Guardian is set to do the same.

So how do the two games stack up with each other? Please do note that this comparison is not aimed at a graphical level, but is for comparing the visual style and art direction.

Let us know what are your thoughts in the comments below."

GodofwarGoty4770d ago

Damn i cant wait for the shadow of colossus Collection its everyones must wanted collection and having it with HD graphics trophie support and much more makes it one of the Greatest collection ( Next to GOD OF WAR of course)

I feel that this game may become more of a fan favorite than the king of action-adventures and puzzle games (just like what SOTC was). It's 6 years later, and we've seen a considerable rise in the amount of FPS games. Obviously, I want this game but that doesn't stop me from worrying about its relevancy in today's market.

GodofwarGoty4770d ago

i agree 100 percent with your comment Rashid Sayed i hope last Guardian successed in everything game play story and sales it seems from what we have seen and heard these may became a fan favourite from all of them and we dont have to worry Team ICO will make sure when they release it it will be the best work they have put it in

paintsville4770d ago

Wow that's really amazing. They look really great. They look identical.

DigitalRaptor4770d ago (Edited 4770d ago )

You're right. I don't think The Last Guardian won't sell its deserved amount. It will do well, don't get me wrong. It just won't be considered or recognised by the mainstream. Such a shame.

I wish I could just make a Public Service Announcement to convince people to play this wonderful game.

To all those who think "the creature gonna die ;( "

Fumito Ueda said that TLG IS NOT A SAD GAME, plus that's why they've mad this trailer with a joyfull music. He his fully aware that everyone belive that Torico gonna die, He wishes to inform the players that the end of the game is amazing.

So I dunno what will happen, but Torico probably not going to die, that would be too easy and desapointing.

-Alpha4770d ago (Edited 4770d ago )

Don't be so sure. We are all expecting the creature or boy to die, ever since SOTC we are all suspecting it.

And I think Ueda says he is aware of this and will try to make it less predictable. Regardless of what happens, I am going to cry, the game just looks too damn beautiful

bangoskank4770d ago

The music isn't so joyful. It's also not original music from the game. It is actually the opening and closing music to the Cohen Brothers film "Miller's Crossing" which, might I add, was awesome.

I believe there will definitely be some kind of sacrifice at the end of the game.

This comparison reminded me of just how incredible the colossi looked, especially for back in the PS2 era (when upscaled into 720p).

In technical graphics, for obvious reasons, TLG looks better. As for artistic design... I would give it to SoTC right now, but that's not really fair: all we've seen of TLG is two characters, some enemies and a couple of environments.

Having said that, some of the colossi even at the beginning of SoTC looked incredible.

They're too different to compare.

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88139d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183137d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie137d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.

The Last Guardian Is One of Gaming’s Most Beautiful Depictions of Friendship

Friendship is hard to depict accurately, but The Last Guardian does a good job of showing all its ups and downs through Trico and the boy.

Technical issues aside, this is easily one of my favorite games from last gen.

ClayRules2012822d ago (Edited 822d ago )

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never forget the emotional experience I had with this game. After waiting all those years, and than to finally play it. It was a visual beauty, along with offering a story/friendship between the 2 characters that was unique and unforgettable. Far surpassed my expectations. A masterpiece!

Technical issues aside, never have I played anything quite like it!

Magog822d ago

I enjoyed the game but it started out too simple and easy. If the entire game was as intense and challenging as the last 20% it would have been a 10/10 experience.

EvertonFC822d ago

Great game, so underrated. One of my favourites and top 20 games of all time

Phoenix76822d ago

I managed to grab the collectors edition for £40 about a year after it released. Was an enjoyable game, but I had just finished Shadow of the colossus, and whilst I enjoyed it, it was not as good when compared.
