VGLoaded's James Chalmers asks Who Needs A 3DS especially when the DSi has so much to offer?
From the article -
"So who really needs a 3DS when there are so many quality titles in the DSi library? 3D Gaming isn’t a gimmick it will in the future be a huge part of how we play our games but the thing people seem to forget is that the Nintendo DS is loved and adopted by the casual market; hell my 50 year old mother has a DSi XL! While news this week that the 3DS has sold more in release week than the original DS it wasn’t until the introduction of the likes of Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training that the casual market exploded."
Game developers have already started to confirm that they will support the Nintendo Switch 2 with their future titles.
Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."
The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.
Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
I know exactly what you mean, I've had a DSLite since it came out and havent been sold by the 3DS to spend that much money $249 on a new console when the only game that has caught my attention was SSFIV.
People are acting as if the 3DS selling more AT LAUNCH than the DS or Wii is an indication that the 3DS will be more popular. Pu-leeeeze.
@Jio that is true, I'm sure Nintendo will slowly faze out development for the DS but with so many casual gamers using the DS at the moment I think they won't completely abandon it straight away.
That is unless they bring out a new Brain Training or big casual title like that for the 3DS.
I picked up the 3DS at launch, and because TrU had the buy 1 get 1 50% off, I picked up SF4, RR3D, Steel Diver and Pilotwings. Ridge Racer does impress in 3D, yeah its pretty much a greatest hits with all the tracks from every RR but it's still fun and looks good. Steel Diver also impressed, the 3D depth underwater and variety keeps you playing, SF is SF for sure, I had high hopes for Pilotwings but must say I'm a bit disappointed and I REALLY loved the N64 game. Anybody have an opinion on Ghost Recon? I was looking at it, but it didn't look visually impressive and looks like turn based strategy...
No one needs a 3DS.
Same thing with a NGP, 360, PS3, and PC.
They are not needed for basic survival. Just make life more fun and easier (PC) on us.
