GND Review: Roxio Game Capture

At the end of the day, Roxio has delivered with Game Capture a slick and easily affordable capture solution that anyone can use. Its only real black eye is the oddly missing option of capturing in high resolutions. For gamers looking for an easy plug and play solution for capturing and editing their video in one place, Roxio’s Game Capture solution is worth a look if nothing else for its ease of use and fully featured software package.

Wonders if this thing can do 1080p60...
No mention of that anywhere in the review.
Looks like a nice piece of hardware, but no way it'll replace my BMI Shuttle.

On another note, the review lists "non-PS3 HDMI connection" as a con, but you can't capture the PS3 through HDMI at all without first stripping the HDCP.

PS3 and 360 (new ones especially) have this built in. I have read there are some ways around it but still, it's technically not meant to be able to happen. Streaming 1080p via PS3 or 360 that is.

The review is correct in its wording about no HDMI for PS3 and mentions component cables for use with PS3. hence the term non-PS3 HDMI as in no PS3 HDMI option.

Also you won't find a USB2 capture device with 1080p/60 by the looks of things. the only options are USB3 and thunderbolt cards for 1080/60. black magic design have a great range. usb2 cards can still pass through 1080/60 to the TV but can only record in 30 frames. so far anyway. 1080/30 is pretty good still if you only have usb2.

the competition is heating up finally, a couple of years ago there was very little choice for HDMI capture, now there are 4 or 5 options

what i would like to see is space for a HDD and the ability to capture directly to it without a PC as the processing is all done on the device anyway. and while i'm dreaming, also an ethernet port.

Roxio Game Capture Pro HD Review - TheGamerAccess.com

"The saying goes that a picture is worth a thousand words. In the world of motion picture, that saying would lead to up to 60,000 words per second. That may sound ridiculous, but the ability for video to almost completely describe a moment in mere minutes and seconds is extremely powerful. This is very helpful when sharing gaming experiences. User-created gaming media is very prevalent in gaming culture. Companies that normally offer DVR-like devices are now offering “gaming edition” capture devices to satisfy the need for crisply recorded media. The latest is from Roxio with their recently released Game Capture Pro HD. How well does it handle gaming media needs?"
