PS3 Fanboy reviews: Go! Sports Ski

PS3 Fanboy writes: "Go! Sports Ski is the latest title from Sony in their casual Go! series of downloadable games on the PlayStation Store, following the Go! Puzzle pack released earlier this year. Dubbed a 'ski simulator' by Sony, Go! Sports Ski offers the usual bundle of features for most of Sony's PSN offerings -- including 1080p support, online leaderboards, and a cheap price (a mere $2.99)".

As of right now, there are only two courses in the game however there are different modes... regular, time attack and slalom which are use the same track; however, the slalom adds the moguls, etc. So, ...there are essentially four. After you get used to the controller... it is actually quite fun. The graphics are great as to be expected and the controller is quite responsive as long as you are not thrashing around with it... You also have the option of online or split screen for local competitions. I am sure they will add more courses down the road. But for right now, the length of each current course is quite nice. You can't beat it for the price.

I see PSN games mainly as games you play while you're waiting for a friend to show up online, or because you have to waste 10 minutes before going to bed and you want to unwind.

I never really liked ski game. But for $2.99? Stop posting reviews, or you'll make a big spender out of me!

I've seen a number of vids of the gameplay and for $5, it's really no gamble. I liked what I saw and I'll definitly get it.

Hell, I keep losing $5 in change from my pockets week damned day so I might as well do something usefull with my $5 that I do manage to not lose :P

marinelife95924d ago

I was going to get it until he said the game pulls your parachute automatically if you decide not to.

Karebear5924d ago

Take skydiving... then add swords... yes I can see it now.
High speed fly bys slashing with katanas attempting to sever ... well whatever.

The winner is the one who can walk away in the end by any means necessary.

I must be having a bad day lol.

Thankfully. Go! Sports Skydiving is a purchase that yields in low risk, high reward. If you buy it and like it, you're extremely happy with your purchase. If you dont like it, it's not like it breaks your wallet as the price is an affordable 5.00.

This is one of the many reasons why Dark Sniper prefers Playstation® Network over the massively inferior XBOX Live. On PSN, you are able to pay for you downloadable titles with a straightfoward currency system. Xbox live extorts money out of your wallet by forcing you to buy Microsoft points. More often than not, you will end up purchasing more points than you need for one game.

If it's one thing Microsoft are experts at, it's at being an elite extortionists.

GameSpot gives 4/10 to PS3's Go! Sports Ski

There's a dearth of snow sports games on the PlayStation 3, specifically skiing games. In fact, Go! Sports Ski, a small downloadable game available for the PlayStation 3 from Sony's PlayStation Network, is the only game in town at this point. Regardless, this so-called "skiing simulator" that's meant to show off the Sixaxis motion controls doesn't do enough--neither in quality nor in quantity--to fill that winter-sports void in a satisfactory manner.

If this came out for Wii, some people would probably blame Nintendo for being incompetent and letting a mediocre game through the filters and that the gaming world is doomed and it's all Nintendo's fault blah blah blah.

I'm not one of those people, so I'll just say that I don't care how bad this game is. At all. It doesn't affect my opinion on the PS3 or on Sony as a company in the slightest, and I am tremendously looking forward to some other PlayStation software in the future.

If anyone really feels strongly to the contrary... I'm not even going to bother insulting you. You're not worth it.

It's a cheap game that probably costs less than what most people have for lunch, so I think if you get as much enjoyment out of a burrito spaced out for a few years equals this game, you might want to just get and see whether its good.

I've read reviews of how some of the cheap PSN sixaxis and eyetoy titles aren't so great, but I found my parents, who have never played a game as far as I remember, and my gf loving them. You just can't tell how a game is from reviews.
