When the DS was first released, Nintendogs was a launch title which showcased well what you could do with the new handheld. In a similar way, Nintendogs + Cats shows what you can do with the 3DS, acting as both as a showcase and a throwback to those who played the original.

Gamertell has published an opinion article that points out five annoyances found in Nintendo's 3DS game, Nintendogs + Cats.

"Nintendogs + Cats is undeniably adorable and will absolutely keep players enthralled for a while since some of the better secrets (Mario room, robot dog) require a substantial wealth of earned Trainer Points to unlock. It isn’t without it’s flaws however and, the more you play, the more the little things grate on you.
Like the fact that your cats don’t seem to care you even exist. Or that puppy weight management is more difficult than it appears. Not to mention the inexplicable need to use AR cards for a contest.... "
NowGamer - What would a modern Nintendo handheld launch be without Nintendogs? Considerably easier to swallow, for one, but here it is anyway. So what’s new with Nintendo’s premium virtual pet? For a start, it actually looks pretty incredible.
