As you may have already read, the recently released shooter Homefront has surpassed the one-million-sales mark in a little over a week. Somewhat surprisingly, these sales numbers place it ahead of Bulletstorm, which has yet to hit one million sales, and it also out-paces Killzone 3's sales, which didn't break a million until its fourth week.
Many people are baffled by this, mainly because Bulletstorm and Killzone 3 are AAA titles that were both expected to sell 4-5 million units easily; Homefront is generally not considered a AAA title and has received significantly lower average review scores than Bulletstorm and Killzone 3. So what happened?
Back in 2011, Epic Games and People Can Fly launched a Call of Duty parody - Duty Calls - that has been lost to the annals of history.
"Duty Calls: The Calm Before the Storm" sounds more like a massive case of the sh**s. 😂
I saw the parody mention, and half expected the ability to drop a deuce on your opponent... I left disappointed.
Hahaha i actually just dropped a review of this game on my channel! I hit all the story beats for anybody too lazy to install it and play through it

Bulletstorm will soon receive a VR remake, but is it worth revisiting? Take a look back at the original 2011 release.
Absolutely. I remember when the game came out on ps360, I thought: "wow, another shooter" and in the 7th gen that wasn't an unfair reaction.
But when the game was re-release on ps4 I took my time an played it (it was on playstation plus at the time) because, ironically, I missed a shooter in that console. And boy, what a fun game! They made a game to be played and not to be watched. It was a fresh air in the genre that deserved better.
So yes. Maybe it find its audience this time.
I got it on PS3 at launch and am still waiting for the long rumored sequel to finally be announced. Currently have it on Switch and wish a physical version of that would be released. Absolutely love it.
I actually feel like this game gets revived all the time, not that I hate the game, I actually quite like it, it's just constantly available, unfortunately I'm not a fan of VR so I'll be skipping this version.
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
This actually got lots of ads. I went to timesquare and they had a huge billboard across the centre off on the side
Whoa, really?
Just goes to show how often reviewers have no clue what the public actually wants.
The gaming world is full of low-selling "AAA" games according to the standards of a very small segment of gamers.
Killzone 3 is on one system -- sold 1.3 million units in 4 weeks.
Homefront and bulletstorm are on like 4 or 5 systems. Nuff said. Killzone 3 is the best FPS I've ever played and I hate the genre. Take it to the bank when I say it's worth it.
Edit to guy below me: It was a sarcastic jab. But it was grounded in reality. Homefront is on 3 systems, 2 of which have far more units available to them than Sony has with Killzone 3.
There are more PC's capable of running Homefront and more xbox 360's out there than the PS3. Killzone 3 is doing very well against all comers.
Is it VGChartz?
