Crytek Doesn’t Care About Cheating/Hacking in Crysis 2

It hasn’t been a good week for Crytek and it’s about to get a whole lot worse.

movements4817d ago (Edited 4817d ago )

Man, Crytek really needs to get this together. First they bragged about having the best looking console game ever - didn't quite live up to it.

Now, after dashing a really messy demo for PS3 users, they apparently don't care about cheats and hacking in their game....

I was thinking of renting Crysis 2....

err..crysis 2 is the best looking console game...thats a fact!

almost all review state this.

BigPappaPump4817d ago

If can't be proven true then it's called an opinion. All review sites have conflicting opinions about this so called fact, please stop spreading fallacies. For those that claimed it's best on consoles obviously played it on sdtv.

omi25p4817d ago

i would agree with you, but there is so much film grain that take away from the experience.

Crysis 2 IS THE CONSOLE GRAPHICS KING...it can't be argued.

Yes we all have opinions, but the majority agree...confirmed!

kikizoo4817d ago (Edited 4817d ago )

on 360, probably...but not on pc and ps3.

(lol@delusional tudors and all gamers without ps3 talking about "better graphics" : kz has better graphics online than crysis, but fans in denial are probably talking about cut scene against kz multi :))

BigPappaPump4817d ago (Edited 4817d ago )

Why, because the quotes from these cherry picked review sites convinced you? Do you play games or follow the reviewers like a good sheep? Like I said, C2 is 360's best but not PS3's. There are GAMES that are arguably Ps3's top dog.

ksoto4816d ago

You must be kidding me right? you have to be an xbox fanboy ur kidding urself most reviews do not say that they just say its a beautiful looking game and on par with some of the best ive only seen one site say that it was the best looking console game and we all knw they were bough off lol . Please everyone knws UC2 wipes the floor witht his game in all aspects ur delusional lol hahahaa When this game recieves universal unprecedented acclaim like UC2 did and as many awards then u come back to me and as it stands it slowly making its way down in metacritic lol to like an 86 lol

From what I see. Crytek messed up the PS3 demo but the retail version worked fine from day 1 which is more than I can say for alot of other games. So props to them for fixing it.

As for the PC community and hacking. I don't think it helps that the PC community is bashing Crytek for having a dumbed down version afterall the hard work they have done. What would you do if the platform in the minority started to bash all your hard work from day one then start hacking and cheating in your game? All PCgamers should just stop complaining, the game looks great and i'm sure there will be mods out that will improve the graphics even more. How can you expect a developer to support a community hell bent on destroying their game because it doesn't look quite as good as the original.

Crytek had ALOT of work to do. They had to make a multiplatform engine and make their first multiplatform title which looks better than every other multiplatform title out there so far. So considering the amount of work they had to do I think they have done a VERY good job.

I thought Killzone 3 looked better but after playing Crysis 2 I actually think Crysis looks better. It has more open environments and a campaign that took me close to 11 hours which is twice what Killzone 3 took me. Im also enjoying the multiplayer more than Killzones.

SpaceSquirrel4817d ago (Edited 4817d ago )

They need to fix the issues soon if they want the multiplayer for Crysis 2 to strive.

movements4817d ago

enkeixpress - We don't have to care what the dev thinks... We shouldn't be afraid of devs... We have to hold them accountable for their neglect. Remember the PS3 demo they sent us? Yeah - because gamers were hard on them - they tried hard to rectify it but they still failed. Up to this day there's not a demo on PSN when Xbox 360 had two...

Don't tell me they care....

P1NKY4817d ago

They took the demo down and said they were going to fix it for release. Which they did. I haven't had any problems with the multiplayer on PS3.

They also said both version would "look" the same which they do. I doubt you could tell the difference between the two unless you had them side by side.

They have done everything they said they were going to do concerning consoles. So why don't they care? They've done ALOT more than what most devs would do so stop complaining.

radphil4817d ago

"So why don't they care? They've done ALOT more than what most devs would do so stop complaining."

Such as?

P1NKY4817d ago

For starters, creating one of the best looking console multiplatform games that looks basically identical on each platform which is pretty damn good considering this is their first time.

Having the multiplayer working on day 1 which is rare these days. Most games dont work properly until a few weeks after release with numerous patches.

Having a single player that lasts more than 4 hours is also something else quite rare these days with FPS games.

tudors4817d ago (Edited 4817d ago )

@movements "Man, Crytek really needs to get this together. First they bragged about having the best looking console game ever - didn't quite live up to it. "

That's your opinion, IMO they did create the best looking console game, the only thing that come close is UC2, KZ3 doesn't even come close, I play Crysis 2 and I see the same exellence and wow factor I saw in UC2, but come on KZ3 isn't groundbreaking, when was the last time you played KZ3 looking down from a skyscraper or to the building to your side checking out tactical options, it's somthing new and fresh. Edit: oh yeh and jumping off the skyscraper to the building below.

"After the news about Crysis 2′s textures being half the size of its predecessor"

Really people are complaining about that, that's sad.

killalot1004817d ago

"KZ3 doesn't even come close" wow really? Come on you may not like the art direction they went with it but graphically its great. Is it better then Crysis 2? Its up to you but your pushing it saying its not even close. As for me and seeing it at Quakcon Rage looks and runs better then Crysis 2 and it was in alpha stage at that.

As for that whole "After the news about Crysis 2′s textures being half the size of its predecessor" I think they compared it to pc wish is very unfair.

starknight3214817d ago

"As for that whole "After the news about Crysis 2′s textures being half the size of its predecessor" I think they compared it to pc wish is very unfair."

How is it unfair? The game originated on PC so again, how is that unfair?

ksoto4816d ago

Your lying to urself kz2 looks better and UC2 lol well theres no game to even compare especially not this one smh Uc2 when it came out was even being compared to Crysis on max setting so please get the fanboyism out.

I'm still learning how to look for the differences. At first I was focusing on shadows for some reason but I don't think that changes much, is it reflections that change?

rashada071810d ago (Edited 1810d ago )

It is supposed to be simulating how light actually works- so yes if light is reflecting off a surface accurately it should show reflection or an effect that matches what you are looking at in the environment. Next time you play a game look at a puddle of water there may be just a "baked" in texture that if you aren't paying attention seems like it is reflecting but it isn't. I would say though if the light is reflecting more accurately I would think that would give more accurate shadows as well.
I am still not 100% sold on it- it looks okay but I can't get over the hardware price jump for better reflections..

Taz X141810d ago

While games won't look immensely better, it opens up more possibilities overall. Understandably, the price jump is huge. But, that can be said for being at the forefront for any new technology. I'm currently using a 2080ti and while I've played a few games that enable it, the gpu also plays everything else incredibly well so it's not like you're buying this tech for ONLY that option. Enthusiasts will pay top dollar to check out the newest things, but this will eventually become an everyday consumer and by then they'll have optimized and become a lot cheaper.

warriorcase1809d ago

Ray/path tracing can be used how the developer wants it to be. Tracing can be used to calculate shadows/lighting, reflection and even audio, where audio waves are calculated on the bounce off material types to simulate enviroment and echos accuratly.

Should also keep in mind that this ray/path tracing system is different and less accurate option from Nvidias RTX branded type. McFly's is a reshade that layers over the top of the game and therefor the quality will vary drastically. For example you can see nice reflection in the Star Wars demo here but it then introduces colour clipping with the light saber. On a video of GTA 5 for example it was incorrectly projecting a reflection of a red car onto the road which caused a very faint red glow on the ground around the car.

If you want to see a good example of a game developed with ray tracing reflection and lighting in mind then you could look up the youtube video of "Control - Exclusive E3 RTX GAMEPLAY Trailer".

DigitallyAfflicted1810d ago

It supposed to add more realistic light Not actually more light effects and explosions

traumadisaster1810d ago

I hate to say it but I’m fine with fake lights, shadows, reflections. I just kind of like the effect, it’s also great it saves resources for other things.

I’ve been checking out some original Xbox games on x360/x1x and the engine has fake light streaming in through a stained glass window, and I love it even though I know it’s not real time lighting. Heck it even shifts as I move about.

I’ve about convinced my self rt and hdr just doesn’t work for me. Before hdr I would even complain damn why are the headlights killing me they are so bright.

I notice most frame rate, then jaggies, then resolution; with the last two interchangeable depending.

Other day watched an enthusiast rave over 4k and the poor guy was in 1080p. I played the same game the night before and thought wow this is clean, I wonder if it’s 4k, but knew differently and I thought wow even resolution is not always important. The next day he apologized and was surprised he could be fooled.

RaidenBlack1809d ago

EA should have released the Crysis Trilogy Remaster for this gen.

FGHFGHFGH1805d ago

How come the lightsabers don't give off any light? Even in the EA star wars game the guy uses it to light up a dark cave. I guess if it is using frostbite it will support rtx cards.
