From the PlanetXbox360.com feature top 10 list:
"There is no doubt that 2011 will be a big year for Xbox 360 when it comes to hit games, with some of them – Crysis 2, Bulletstorm – already making the rounds, and others – Mortal Kombat, Shift 2: Unleashed – coming in a matter of weeks. But what about the games that are expected to be “sleeper” hits, the ones that the gaming community recognizes more than the masses? Well, there will be plenty of those, and here now are ten games that we believe will set the tone for gaming greatness, even if they don’t sell in the multi-millions. These should definitely be “sleeper” hits for the next-gen consoles set to release in 2011, later this year we’ll take a look at the major players."
"Dark Souls: Archthrones is like playing a brand new FromSoftware game, and that speaks volumes about just how much good modding can do," says Hanzala from eXputer.
Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way. Why?
i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)
I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
TheGamer writes, "Some weapons resist the test of time."
Should be interesting to see how these "non-typical" games do in terms of sales; I bet they will review well regardless....
Dark Souls for the win!
Dark Souls will be anything but "Sleeper." Demon's Souls was. They won't make the same marketing mistake.
We aren't even into the 4th month of 2011 and 'Top' is in the title ermm
they forgot Brink
