Leaked Details On Rise Of Nightmares, Sega's Kinect Horror Game | Siliconera

Siliconera - Way back at Tokyo Game Show, Sega announced Rise of Nightmares as a Kinect enabled Xbox 360 game. Thanks to leaked details we know its a first person perspective, monster killing game with brass knuckles and chainsaws.

n4g for the most part is very negative towards kinect

some people forgot that gaming is supposed to be about fun and not about whose console has the best graphics or the most exclusives.

Negative because Kinect doesnt enhance gameplay at all. It only makes things more awkward and limiting from what I can gather.

People are very critical of games for their control schemes (see: LAIR) and I don't see why Kinect games should get a free pass because people perceive them differently. If the controls suck, they suck. There's no getting around that, especially when a camera is your primary method of control.

Digital, you are wrong. Here is why: You can not play Kinect games with a controller. Even the implimentation of 'Child of Eden' will be completely different from the controller version.

Who would you plat DCentral, K-sports, Your Shape, .. with your controller. Please explain. Name one game that Kinect has made the controls worst. You are making stuff up, like most around here do. Yep, that is call lying.

where I disagree with you DigitalRaptor is that the controls dont suck. I understand that some folks dont like kinect, thats an individuals perogative. I understand if the litmus test for you is whether or not it enhances gameplay, thats your standard. What about when I have friends and family (most who are non gamers) over and we use Kinect, what about the fun we are having. What if casual social gaming fun is what I want from Kinect, is the fun we are having an illusion?

I purchased both Kinect and Move, and I enjoy them both and am looking forward to seeing the games that get released for each platform. So while I respect your opinion about Kinect i guarantee that if you hung out with me and my friends and played kinect for an hour, you would be smiling and laughing by the end of that hour. Isnt there value in that?

I know it's hard to take in, but you know how games have been played soundly for years? With those pieces of plastic and wires you can do just about anything.

I'll hand you a nice analogy: I'm attracted to women, but if I liked men I would still be gay. If I like Pearl Jam, but I also liked Justin Bieber and Britney Spears, I would still like bad music. I like using a controller, but if I wanna use Kinect, I'm still a fan of shallow games.

You must be the only person in the world who would describe a game with lines like "Worst sex in my life", and actions to cut people in half with a chainsaw as "casual". Sorry, but casual refers to the games content as well as it's control scheme. Casual gamers (gamers that don't play games as their main hobby and mostly play party/reality (pet, dance, music) games) certainly won't be playing this. I know my mom won't be.

If its on rails, I'd not buy, but I dont see where it says that it is. Just the haters making up stuff again... seriously guys get on with your lives, kinect is a massive success and its not going away lol. The people have spoken.

it'll be on rails for sure just like the gunstringer and Child of Eden. The enemies running towards you and then it turn into kinect boxing with weapons i think making a mature(boobs,language etc.) game isn't the same as making a hardcore(gears,uncharted,infam ous) game it might be a enough to get people through the drought though. I need gameplay though........
