Destructoid: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is considered by many strategy RPG enthusiasts to be one of the best examples of the genre. Originally released on the Super Nintendo, then remade on the PlayStation and Saturn, it now finds itself on the PlayStation Portable. The story in this re-remake has been largely unchanged, but several new systems have been added to alter the manner in which it unfolds.
When it comes to the best PlayStation 1 RPGs, we’ve all heard Final Fantasy this, Chrono Chross that. Two problems that emerge when a steady stream of blockbusters are released on a system is is that some of the very good RPGs are crowded out and some games are less great in the eyes of players who experienced the best games on the system.
From Xfire: "There seems to be some sort of JRPG renaissance going on these past few years.
In addition to new entries of long-running franchises being released on multiple platforms and new IPs being introduced, some classic JRPG games are getting the love that they rightfully deserve in the form of a remake.
Case in point, Legend of Mana, and of course, who can forget the Final Fantasy 7 Remake?
But while there's a growing number of classic JRPG titles that are being remade for modern audiences, there are still far more that aren't getting enough attention and are in desperate need of a modern remake in 2021 and beyond."
Wild Arms, Xenogears, Xenosaga trilogy, Arc the Lad, Alundra, Golden Axe Warrior, FF Crisis Core, Ar Tonelico, Rouge Galaxy.
First I would like to have the originals easily available again. Than the remakes, that way it's assured that the classic version is still "gettable" in case de remake sucks or take unwanted liberties.
Xfire writes: "Announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, Project Triangle Strategy (a working title), is a tactical role-playing "2D HD game" described as something that is "full of choices and consequences" and that looks a lot like their vastly underrated modern JRPG, Octopath Traveller.
But while the upcoming title is visually similar to something from 2018, it actually has far more similarities with titles released way back in the past. Coincidentally, some of these titles, Square Enix ended up either developing or publishing themselves.
With that said, we've decided to round up some of the best games likes Project Triangle Strategy that you can play today."
not a review worth reading. He hates games
I haven't played this game but ive heard pretty good things about it. 5/10, really?
Need to get this game soon as well as Duodecim. Odd, everywhere else seems to be giving the game 10/10 and 9/10 :/
Got this game the day it came out and I still play it. It's a great time killer.
There needs to be more srpgs.
His list of qualifiers for why most people would dislike the game are what make this game so refreshing. My apologies if it isn't a new michael jackson dancing game or angry birds.
