What is with all these ratings turning out this way? I would love to see the rating system scale it down a little to the point where things are more accurately represented. Some games end up T that should be M and some M that should be T.

Meanwhile way too many games are given back to be changed otherwise they get the dreaded AO.

I would hate to see the government step in and regulate but also I do feel like the ESRB would benefit from an overhaul that had the developers and publishers best interests in mind.

I've played several of these Wizardry games. They've all been very tough and closer to automated paper RPGs then actual video games.

If this is the same as previous games it'll be much harder for this generation to accept then say someone in the 90's. There is hardly anything flashy game play wise in previous Wizardry titles. Most are windows full of stats with backdrops for city and tavern zones.

These games are a nitch market and the average gamer might not accept them as well compared to other more graphic action intensive RPG styles currently available on the market. You basically crawl a dungeon and choose menu options to decide your fate.

Which can be bad thing unfortunately. Some of the best ideas and functionalities came from around that time, and this generation of people are just going to shun it for being "outdated", instead of appreciating where gaming came from.

The thing is, Wizardy games are very math heavy as well, and a huge portion of the population apparently hate math (saw a few studies a while back).

Yep, 100% agree, those where the days with the largest spectrum of unique games.

I just finished playing Grandia on PS3 (PS1 downloaded game). The graphics weren't ungodly but the game play was fun and had an extremely well driven story.

Now days it's hard not to hear people complaining about resolutions, polygon count, trophies, achievements or DLC.

I've played the recent Wizardry games that were released in Japan, and they're very, very good. Niche, but good.

I played the original Wizardy, at least I think it was the first... Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord I think was the subtitle. I'm interested enough to keep an eye on this but I don't see how this could possibly do well with the gamers of today.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls (PC) Review | Hey Poor Player

Kevin writes: "Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is a decently constructed title that continues the classic series' traditions very well.  However, the real value lies in how big of a fan of the series you are, or how much you enjoy other Dungeon Crawling RPG's in general."
