ShadyDevil4797d ago

That did not last long at all did it? Wow.

Dragun6194797d ago (Edited 4797d ago )

Too many issues, Mainly with people struggling to connect to a game.

Honestly, this is disappointing. Worse, is the fact that this releases next week. Smh
Maybe, Crytek, You should of released a beta earlier for PS3 than releasing it a week before it actually releases.

lil Titan4797d ago

*sighs* *shrugs shoulders* *lives on*

DA_SHREDDER4797d ago

Yeah, ill be too busy playing Somcom 4 beta to really give a crap if this game starts working or not. Im done with half assed games.

Sillyace924797d ago

no it's because the game releases in 4 days, it's not just the PS3 one that has gone offline, the 360 and PC are off aswell. But they only mention the PS3, now why is that...oh yeah because people love to hate.

Parapraxis4797d ago

Sillyace92 ...you do realize the PS3 demo was only added to PSN 2 days ago...right?

pinksteak094797d ago

well that sucks, i finally got online today :(

starchild4797d ago

That's kind of lame for PS3 users. A couple days in which many people couldn't even get connected and now they are pulling it? It did have issues, but couldn't they fix them without pulling the demo down?

Oh well, this reminds me why I play most my games on the PC.

BattleAxe4797d ago

The amount of bad press this game has gotten in the media has totally ruined my buzz for Crysis 2. I'll wait until the Steam Summer Sale and pick it up then.

Pixel_Pusher4797d ago (Edited 4797d ago )

All I know is that the gameplay is really fuckin' good so I'll tolerate some jaggies and low rez textures.

Black Ops looks like shit compared to this and yet you're still playing it.

PoweredParaglider4797d ago (Edited 4797d ago )

It's not like the ps3 version is broken!

Apart from a blurrier look, lower resolution and lower framerate, this game is still looking pretty cool on ps3.
From what's been reported the ps3 demo was using a newer build than the 360 demo. So yeah I guess that's slightly disappointing.

But it's sad that so many gamers on here write off the ps3 version just because it ain't top dog. It will still be an awesome shooter, no doubt. Just the fanboy egos need adjusting.

Pixel_Pusher4796d ago (Edited 4796d ago )

Damn this mob mentality is no joke.

The hilarious part is that I know people that own both console and have tried both versions and they're telling me that they prefer the PS3 version over the 360's and they'll be getting it for the PS3. Yet the PS3 users here can't even appreciate this game. smh

It always took three tries to get connected to the servers after that I had no problem. And you chances were much better solo than in a group.

Dee_914796d ago (Edited 4796d ago )

well atleast i played it for awhile
but if those connection problems on the final version
im renting

@pixel
what the hell r you talking about ?

Vherostar4796d ago

I wanted to try but ah well I will try PC demo instead. The fact is this is showing they are working on the problems rather than leaving them which is ace in my books.

Kleptic4796d ago

have a 360 at my house, and Ps3 right now...the 360 isn't mine, but a friend is moving who brought it over for the time being...

as soon as I could get the PS3 demo downloaded I tried it...it did take about 20 minutes for it to finally load me in a game...but when I was in, it seemed pretty stable...

to me, this has to be one of the biggest examples i've seen about how people on this site, or on the internet, will blow things so far beyond reality that its not even worth listening to anymore...

I'm not talking about users blowing things out of proportion...the media is even more guilty...

So played both versions back to back on the same HDTV I own...Sony 46" KDL 4100z...its 1080p, 120hz, BE 2, but not LED (that wasn't available until a year later)...The 360 being used was an older model, but did have HDMI...neither one of us could tell any real difference when sitting 8 feet away on a couch...the 360 versions AND PS3 version had noticeable pop in, occasional stuttering, and some 'effect loading' at the beginning of a match...

all this 'blurrier' texturing on PS3 and everything...you WILL NOT notice that when playing the game...if it wasn't for the 360 sounding like a space shuttle at lift off...I would never know which version was which unless button icons were on screen...there are some differences between the 2, but look more like cinematic effects rather than the technical advantages to either system...the background city scapes on the PS3 seem a little more out of focus or softer, where as the 360 seems more in focus, but with more aliasing because of it (this is basically a difference between the AA used I would imagine)...then there are multiple times where a certain effect is happening in one and not the other...sometimes a huge tower of smoke is rising up in the PS3 version background, or the 360 version, but not in the same place or the same time for each version.

the only 'noticeable' differences occur when you do not adjust your TV settings for either console...the 360 always produces cooler color patterns, while the PS3 is warmer...if the display is set to warmer colors, the PS3 will be oversaturated and needs adjustment...if the TV is set to cooler settings, the 360 looks overly 'vivid' if thats a word (like settings you use for animated movies or something)...and needs adjustment...thats it...thats all I could tell in a few hours of playing...

the main issue is that NEITHER console version is the best looking title on consoles...killzone 3 easily walks away with it, so i simply can't understand why anyone is arguing about it in the first place...Crysis 2 is not what was promised visually, based on the demo's at least...for either console...its above average, but doesn't set ANY standards...

have to admit though that the gameplay is actually surprisingly fun...

jjohan354796d ago

Crytek already stated in the official forums that the PS3 MP demo is based on an older build. We do not even know if the graphics or network issues will be the same in the final retail version.

Socom 4 beta is better anyway!!!!!!!

sickbird4797d ago

wanna share your beta code? : )

Parapraxis4797d ago

Beta codes can only be used once.

RonRico4796d ago

At least I'll be able to connect to Socom. Jezzus I didn't get into 1 game on this (crysis 2) demo.

t0mmyb0y4796d ago

I havent been able to connect ONCE on Crysis 2. Socom 4 on the other hand, I joined the second day, and is there even lag lol. I love it

Kingscorpion19814796d ago

I'm having a lot of fun with Socom 4 beta!!!!!!!!!

Persistantthug4797d ago

Instead of taking the M$ cash, why didn't they just release the damn beta's at the same time?

Obviously they are console noob developers, and need as much lead time and help as possible for the betterment of their product.

Now their game is a joke and it will get tared and feathered appropriately.

I hope all console noob developers take note in how NOT to develop and plan their games.

LOOK_AT_THIS_I4797d ago

Reminds me of operation flashpoint. Bunch of false promises to hype it up release it to scavenge some cash....promise fixes release some dlc a week or two after release and ride off into the sunset.

Typical of shady ass devs this generation, speak with your wallets people don't buy into with hopes it will get fixed. WAIT until "if" it gets fixed then evaluate. It's not gonna change much in a few days time. Few weeks may be another story. It's probably already in warehouses or shelves waiting to be sold.

trancefreak4797d ago

Damn right! I got kz3 one of the best fps games ive played in awhile. Just getting warmed in mplayer. I really wanted something special here but crytek is are becoming a bunch of fronting busters.

RonRico4796d ago

@Look
Op Flash Point was soooo bad. LOL

the_kutaragi_baka4797d ago

thanks kratos for this.

Biggest let-down demo of a game in 2011? I think so!

chriski3334797d ago

five bucks says launch will have flaws

pixelsword4796d ago

That won't be so bad; Crysis 1 for PC had flaws, too:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/...

No game launches perfect, but at least nowadays patches can be deployed; as long as developers don't abuse the power and have a sloppy launch, this is a plus for gaming.

:D

trancefreak4797d ago

sh1t was it ever online I never could connect. What a huge let down for the ps3 version on this one.

This game is straight busted and they want a greedy 59.99 us dollars for pc I just noticed. Screw that.

What ever happened to the 49.00 amount. Even then no direct x goodness unless something has changed.

ipe4796d ago

of course it didnt, in 3 days i managed to get in ONE /1 game for few minutes out of 50+ tries. And for some reason my exp. points were gone next day i checked.

Although i like how it plays i wont be buying on release. I ll stick to kz3 before ey sort out these problems. If at all.

DigitalAnalog4796d ago

Ever since i download the game, I was unable to connect this WHOLE TIME. What a f*cking joke, and a waste of downloaded space.

-End statement

finbars754796d ago (Edited 4796d ago )

I hate people who go on about how good the demo was.Terrible game. Its funny that the xbox had 1 beta and 2 demos before the PS3 got it and it was for what 2 days.LOL.Good job Crytek. You guys can say what you want about this game but its going flop.Im willing to put all my money on the table that Homefront will outsell Crysis2.Crytek dropped the ball by turnung there backs on the PC community and porting the game horribly to the PS3.Maybe they should of used all that money MS gave them for the exclusive demos to fix there game.Give 3 months from now and Crytek will go under or be bought out. This is turning to be out like another Bayonetta issue the only difference is that the online was going to be there back up plan to success but even that has changed the majority of peoples minds.

milohighclub4796d ago

that sucks! I've had no issues with the game! the framers dropped a few times but I was playing it for hours. That sucks!

khan_saab4796d ago

you are part of a very small majority

Biggest4796d ago

Minority, but yeah. I was one of the people that couldn't get into a game on the PS3 demo. Screw Crysis 2.

Tyre4796d ago (Edited 4796d ago )

Darn i was just enjoying meself with the MP THX to all the f$$k%*g flamers and power saturated journalists...why the hate man? the developers actually gave use something to play with for the community why did the journalist had to interfere?Crytek always said they were just test versions to gather data..we've got nothing to gain from complete jerks like some journalists thx for nothing now i have to wait 5 more days...that's what u get Larry...that's what u get when u F a stranger in the A.

RumbleFish4796d ago

Not surprised. That's what I call damage control. Did they really believe people would like their demo?
Doesn't matter, but now they know people don't like their demo. They take it off not because of network issues but to avoid even more cancelled preorders.

lpfisher4797d ago

After I got connected, I didn't have any issues...but getting connected is a serious problem.

Jio4796d ago

Waited for 30 minutes before I could find a match. But when I did find one, the game played very well with a few glitches, which is to be expected in a demo

theonlylolking4797d ago (Edited 4797d ago )

but but but it had more shadows and motion blur than the 360 it played THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are no problems with it! It is just your connection and PS3!

jk

It really was a mess on PS3. Hopefully they can get everything working by the time the game comes out.

trancefreak4797d ago

You should see the fake ea pr posts in the ea ps3 crysis mplayer demo forums praising mplayer mode lol.

"Dont listen to the hate crytek this game rocks nothing wrong here and its gourgeous" bwhahahaa

Im going to go with the wait and see approach and will be watching for reviews and some the veteran gamers feedback on incrsysis before I make my purchase.

milohighclub4796d ago

More issues with the 360 mate.

Rage_S904797d ago

already deleted it i literally couldn't get into 1 f*cking game

trancefreak4797d ago

yup same here. Good to have exclusives when you have Maximum fail.

Tyre4796d ago (Edited 4796d ago )

had no problems connecting what so ever...could get into games...not like immediately but that's normal on such short notice....but that doesn't make a game f*cked up...it only means U called the whole full retail game f*cked cause u didn't have the patience and ur NAT settings were f*cked up...happens with more games also happend with Killzone3 beta....so now u base ur opinion on vapor and call the whole game f*cked up?

Parapraxis4797d ago

what the f..... I tried it earlier, but assumed that there weren't many local players as it was the morning.
Was going to try it again...but i guess not??

GodofwarGoty4797d ago

it just came out and now they there removing the demo ? lets hope crysis turns out good they say they are removing it so it plays so it would be flawless lets hope these is true these game was on everyones list but all demos on all platforms are looking bad sigh

Here are Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Crysis 2, RAGE & Resident Evil 2 Remake with Ray Tracing

YouTube’s members ‘Digital Dreams’ and ‘Jose cangrejo’ have shared some videos, showcasing Pascal Gilcher’s Reshade mod – which adds Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects – in some really old games such as Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Crysis 2, RAGE and Resident Evil 6.

I'm still learning how to look for the differences. At first I was focusing on shadows for some reason but I don't think that changes much, is it reflections that change?

rashada071778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

It is supposed to be simulating how light actually works- so yes if light is reflecting off a surface accurately it should show reflection or an effect that matches what you are looking at in the environment. Next time you play a game look at a puddle of water there may be just a "baked" in texture that if you aren't paying attention seems like it is reflecting but it isn't. I would say though if the light is reflecting more accurately I would think that would give more accurate shadows as well.
I am still not 100% sold on it- it looks okay but I can't get over the hardware price jump for better reflections..

Taz X141778d ago

While games won't look immensely better, it opens up more possibilities overall. Understandably, the price jump is huge. But, that can be said for being at the forefront for any new technology. I'm currently using a 2080ti and while I've played a few games that enable it, the gpu also plays everything else incredibly well so it's not like you're buying this tech for ONLY that option. Enthusiasts will pay top dollar to check out the newest things, but this will eventually become an everyday consumer and by then they'll have optimized and become a lot cheaper.

warriorcase1777d ago

Ray/path tracing can be used how the developer wants it to be. Tracing can be used to calculate shadows/lighting, reflection and even audio, where audio waves are calculated on the bounce off material types to simulate enviroment and echos accuratly.

Should also keep in mind that this ray/path tracing system is different and less accurate option from Nvidias RTX branded type. McFly's is a reshade that layers over the top of the game and therefor the quality will vary drastically. For example you can see nice reflection in the Star Wars demo here but it then introduces colour clipping with the light saber. On a video of GTA 5 for example it was incorrectly projecting a reflection of a red car onto the road which caused a very faint red glow on the ground around the car.

If you want to see a good example of a game developed with ray tracing reflection and lighting in mind then you could look up the youtube video of "Control - Exclusive E3 RTX GAMEPLAY Trailer".

DigitallyAfflicted1778d ago

It supposed to add more realistic light Not actually more light effects and explosions

traumadisaster1778d ago

I hate to say it but I’m fine with fake lights, shadows, reflections. I just kind of like the effect, it’s also great it saves resources for other things.

I’ve been checking out some original Xbox games on x360/x1x and the engine has fake light streaming in through a stained glass window, and I love it even though I know it’s not real time lighting. Heck it even shifts as I move about.

I’ve about convinced my self rt and hdr just doesn’t work for me. Before hdr I would even complain damn why are the headlights killing me they are so bright.

I notice most frame rate, then jaggies, then resolution; with the last two interchangeable depending.

Other day watched an enthusiast rave over 4k and the poor guy was in 1080p. I played the same game the night before and thought wow this is clean, I wonder if it’s 4k, but knew differently and I thought wow even resolution is not always important. The next day he apologized and was surprised he could be fooled.

RaidenBlack1777d ago

EA should have released the Crysis Trilogy Remaster for this gen.

FGHFGHFGH1772d ago

How come the lightsabers don't give off any light? Even in the EA star wars game the guy uses it to light up a dark cave. I guess if it is using frostbite it will support rtx cards.
