Massively: Exclusive WWII Online: Battleground Europe Team Interview

WWII Online: Battleground Europe is still going strong. In fact, Playnet and Cornered Rat Software are on the verge of a massive update for the game. Update 1.31, currently in open beta, has been in the works for many months and is set to overhaul the graphics of this old-school MMOFPS. It might even give newer games a run for their money!

Massively was lucky enough to sit down with several members of the Battleground Europe development team -- Amy-Lynn Engelbrecht, Dana Baldwin, and Geof Evans -- and fire off some questions about the visual overhaul, as well as a few questions about the weather -- that is, the game's new weather system, which will actually affect land and air conditions in PvP!

The event weekend begins today and includes some nice giveaways -- just logging in enters you in a drawing for WWIIOL t-shirts, beer steins, and even one-year game subscriptions. There will be fun in-game as well.

WWII Online: Battleground Europe v1.29.3 Client

Developed by Cornered Rat Software, WWII Online: Battleground Europe is a game fought on an accurate half-scale map of 1940's Western Europe. This map is dotted with a network of towns and cities. Each town is a varied collection of facilities, but includes always at least one army base (which includes an infantry spawn point and a vehicle spawn point), one "town center", and supply depots linking the town to adjacent towns by road, rail or water. The only exception for this is some cities located on islands that are inaccessible by road/bridges do not support vehicle spawning.
