Warriors: Legends of Troy is a confident enough game to begin with a bang. After the initial scene-setting cinematic, players are thrown straight into the first bout of combat: this is your tutorial, learning on the job. Small skirmishes on the beach teach players the fundamentals of combos, evades, blocking and direct targeting, as well as the Fury Meter. And it’s true that this is all you need know for much of the game, but it’s the expert players that’ll learn how to utilise these basic manoeuvres to create something vastly more than the sum of its parts.

Here in the third instalment of 2011’s ‘The Twelve Games of Christmas’ series we arrive at March, a shockingly busy month for releases of questionable quality. Of course, as is always the case, there were a few diamonds in the rough, as was aptly described by the Nintendo 3DS launch line-up.
